Black Consciousness In Blue
A self taught artist, Roland Mecklembourg (Rojmeck) was born in the Caribbean country of Haiti. A natural visionary, thinker and philosopher, he tries to conciliate art with his concerns for the space in which every essence finds its being . Desiring ultimately to portray and mingle the seen and the unseen, the energy felt and expressed (past-present and future) with a hope that can take the soul into a deeper understanding of existence and of self within that existence.
Using bright colors either in acrylic on canvas or pen and ink (India ink), Rojmeck conveys at times a fantasy world of imaginative concepts that have taken him to indefinite linear and un-linear revelations of forms and shapes that he says are guided totally by the Spirit. “ Without art there would be no life, for God is Art in whatever dimension you reach him, says Rojmeck. Look next to you and you will see this truth.”
His works, since 1977 have been in private collections in Europe, the United States and the West Indies. His latest exhibit was at the Franck Sinatra School of Arts in New York under the auspices of the International Queens Film Festival, during the month of November 2009.
