The teacher gives the students the answer and they provide the question. This develops the ability to change between interrogative and affirmative structures. Try to introduce contracted forms at an early stage. 1. It’s a pen - What is it? 2. It's a book - What is it? 3. It's a chair - What is it? 4. It is 2 o’clock - What time is it? 5. The pen is red - What colour is the pen? 6. I am a teacher - What do you do? (teach as a fixed expression for asking about somebody’s profession) 7. My name is XXXX - What’s your name. 8. I am from England - Where are you from? 9. She’s my girlfriend - Who is she? 10. That’s my brother - Who is that? 11. My girlfriend is from Chile - Where is your girlfriend from? 12. My brother lives in London - Where does your brother live? 13. She’s my sister - Who is she? 14. My sister lives in the United States - Where does your sister live? 15. She is an accountant - What does she do? 16. That is her husband - Who is that? 17. Her husband is an IT engineer - What does her husband do? 18. He is my best friend - Who is he? 19. He is an actor - What does he do? 20. Christmas day is on the 25th of December - When is Christmas day? 21. My birthday is in MONTH - When is your birthday? 22. I start my new job next week – When do you start your new job? 23. I’m wet because it is raining outside - Why are you wet? 24. I don’t work because I haven’t got a job - Why don’t you work? 25. I don’t drink beer because I don’t like it - Why don’t you drink beer? You have now covered the full range of wh- questions. The next questions introduce ‘whose’ and ‘which’ 26. That dog is mine - Whose is that dog? 27. I use my wife’s car to go to work - Whose car do you use? 28. The blue one is mine - Which one is yours? 29. The red one is his - Which one is his? 30. That is my coat - Whose is that coat?
