How to begin: GO to http://www.car.chula.ac.th/curef-db/slist.html#general Select ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, ProQuest Home page will be displayed. From the first screen, select then “Dissertations & Theses” (PQDT), the PQDT database screen will be available, which enables user to browse, do basic search and advanced search, see figure below. Browse User can browse alphabetical list of dissertations and theses by subjects or location, see figure below. From browse option, user can view more in details of each selected subject / location, see detailed locations under Japan within the box of the above figure. Basic Search The PQDT first screen provides default Basic Search option for user to enter word or phrase, i.e., “online social network”, click for search, and the results will be displayed, see figures below. Advanced Search Advanced search allows user to create a search that is as precise as he/she needs it to be. Click “Advanced” at Home page screen, “Advanced Search” screen with different options is provided. User can enter word or phrase, select/specify field (optional, default All fields), use Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT, and select other Search options if needed. Search options include: date range, degree or manuscript type, language, sort result by, and items per page. Click then “Search” to continue, see next figures on the next page for sample “Advanced search” and results. PQDT — Full Text includes millions of searchable citations to dissertation and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present day together with over a million full text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format. Over 2.4 million titles are available for purchase as printed copies. The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and strong retrospective full text coverage for older graduate works. Subject coverage is Interdisciplinary, including Business, Health & Medicine, History, Literature & Language, Science & Technology, Social Sciences, and the Arts.
