To make the lives of children and their families a little brighter by focusing on their individual needs with the help of volunteers. Our Mission: Monthly Change A MAKING KIDS COUNT E-NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2011 We can’t believe it’s already the last month of summer! We’ve had such a busy last three months that June through August have just come and gone. Over the course of June through August we’ve had: a Community Garage Sale, 3 birthday parties, 3 Volunteer Days, 3 newborn basket drop-offs, and a Golf Outing Fundraiser! Among all of that, we have also had our 3,000th hit on our website, thanks to all of you! During the summer months, the children at the Beatitude House like to venture outdoors and do activities at the monthly birthday parties. Dairy Queen in Cornersburg has been so gracious to donate dilly bars for the children to enjoy outside instead of cake! On top of that, Chick-fil-a on Boardman-Canfield Road has supplied us with a medium tray of nuggets for each party! It’s been such a nice treat for the children and the support of local businesses like Chick-fil-a and DQ have made these parties all the more special! At our Volunteer Day on August 2nd, we were able to make 18 baby baskets for the Pregnancy Help Center, 3 sets of cards, 25 “Back to School” bags for the children at the Beatitude House locations in Youngstown and Warren, and get things ready for our Golf Outing that was only 4 days away! Make sure to check out the next page for an upcoming fundraising event. Thanks again for following our cause. We really appreciate all of your support. Have a great month! A MAKING KIDS COUNT E-NEWSLETTER

AUGUST 2011

We can’t believe it’s already the last month of summer!

Dairy Queen in Cornersburg has been so gracious to donate dilly bars for the

children to enjoy outside instead of cake! On top of that, Chick-fil-a on Boardman-Canfield Road has supplied us with a medium tray of nuggets for each party! It’s been such a nice treat for the children and the support of local businesses like Chick-fil-a and DQ have made these parties all the more special!

Events of Special Interest

Stamping for a ‘CauseA few months ago we were approached by a

woman named Judy Lawton. She puts on different fundraisers for organizations and chose us for her next endeavor! She will be having a fundraiser for us at the end of August called “Stamping for a ‘Cause”. It will be on Saturday August 27th from 10am-12:30pm at The Community Center at the Links of Firestone Farms. Judy will provide all of the supplies for the 3 different cards you will get to assemble & take home with you as well as lunch! If you want to only come for the card making or only attend the luncheon that is fine too! $20 for both or $10 each! We have attached the PDF with information on the event! Please contact us or Judy ([email protected]) no later than August 18th if you plan to attend!

First Annual Golf Outing

Our Golf Outing Fundraiser on August 6th was a huge success. We had so much support from both local and national businesses! Along with 15 Hole Sponsors, we also had 21 baskets for our Chinese Auction, and a $1,000 in Airtran Airways ticket vouchers up for grabs! Catullo Prime Meats of Boardman was our luncheon sponsor supplying us with the sausage & peppers, pulled pork, and potatoes for the event! They were among 6 food donors for the event (Kravitz Deli, The Landmark, White House Fruit Farms, Outback Steakhouse, and Schwebel’s being the other 5 generous donors)! We were able to raise over $3,700 for the event! A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers, golfers, and businesses who donated to help our Making Kids Count First Annual Golf Outing a successful one! We couldn’t have done it without you!
