Where did you receive your education, where have you worked and what are your specialties? Laura S. Liddle, Au.D., Clinical Audiologist Doctor of Audiology • B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences - Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN • M.S. in Audiology - Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN • Au.D. Doctor of Audiology - A. T. Still University, Mesa, AZ I have worked in a variety of settings - ENT Clinic, Private Practice, including various hearing aid and implant manu- facturing facilities. I have been a Clinical Audiologist for both Pediatrics and Adults, Product Manager, Director of Training and Education, and Sales/Training Territory Manager. I specialize in hearing aids - specifically programming and counseling. 2) Dr. Julie mentioned you will be bring- ing cochlear implants to the practice as a new option to patients. Tell me about your background with this medical procedure and how will it enhance patient’s experience at the practice. Prior to joining Flatirons Audiology, I was a Cochlear Provider Network Territory Manager for Cochlear Americas based in Centennial, CO. Cochlear Implants are designed to provide clarity of speech and sound for people who find that hearing aids no longer provide a powerful enough solution. Typically, these patients have a moderate to profound hearing loss in both ears and are not receiving enough benefit when using hearing aids. NOTE: Wearing hearing aids first is a necessary step in the cochlear implant evaluation process. 3) How do cochlear implants help patients improve their hearing and what can those in need expect out of the procedure? When hair cells located in the inner ear, specifically in the cochlea, have become damaged, they break. These hair cells do not regenerate. Cochlear implants are designed to mimic the function of healthy cochlear hair cells to provide clear, more natural sound than what hearing aids can typically provide. 4) Why do you think you are a good fit to work at Flatirons Audiology, Inc? YEARS of experience and a wicked sense of humor! LOL! Flatirons Audiology Welcomes Laura S. 5) Why have you chosen this time and space to join the practice?

I have joined Flatirons Audiology at this point in my career, as I have become burnt out on traveling across the country every week! Flatirons Audiology provides me with a “close to home” working oppor-tunity. And who better to spend my day with than Dr. Julie and staff???

6) What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I am an avid traveler - have a bit of Wan-derlust! I love to be outdoors and tend to be somewhat adventurous. I hike, run, SCUBA, and recently started kickbox-ing! My family is very important to me - I have three adult children and one grand daughter. I love entertaining family and friends, and I love to bake!

7) Dr. Julie mentions baking is a hobby of yours. How and when did you get started baking and what are some of your favorite things to bake?

I do enjoy baking! I bake chocolate chunk cookies for my kids ....often! I particularly

like gingersnaps and scones. My mother was NOT a good cook/baker - she just never enjoyed it! I learned to cook out of self-preservation!

8) What would you like to stay to patients at Flatirons about joining the practice?

I look forward to meeting you and working with you to help you in improving your communication goals!
