1. INTRODUCTION

Fiber To The User (FTTU) is quickly becoming the only logical choice for new access network build outs and for the revamping of existing networks. This radical transformation in access network design is made possible by passive optical network (PON) technology. Therefore, most of the FTTU deployments today around the world use the PON technology as it uses low-cost, easy to install and maintain, passive optical splitters to perform the fiber distribution.

This document describes the Alcatel-Lucent GPON NayaTel proposal.The capabilities of the 7342 FTTU GPON system are also outlined in the sections below.

Alcatel-Lucent is pleased to present to NayaTel an offer for the supply a Gigabit passive optical network (GPON) for a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solution using the award winning Alcatel-Lucent ISAM portfolio, and to share with NayaTel our innovation and expertise with a goal to create together the best fitted, future proof access solution.

Capitalizing on Alcatel-Lucent’s industry leadership in wire-line digital subscriber line (DSL) and next generation digital loop carrier (NGDLC), the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU expands Alcatel-Lucent’s access portfolio with an all-optical PON access solution. The 7342 ISAM FTTU allows established and emerging service providers to supply revenue generating services to their residential and business customers, including high quality voice, multi-channel video services and high speed Internet access at speeds way beyond the classical HSI delivery of today. Small business customers can be served by the same system, minimizing the varieties of equipment an operator must deploy. The 7342 ISAM FTTU is a highly flexible solution that extends optical access across the last mile of the communications network, supporting broadband services today and into the future.

We would be very pleased to work closely with NayaTel and offer our unique business and technical experience. As NayaTel intends to invest in a new and highly scalable access infrastructure, Alcatel-Lucent provides the building blocks you need to accomplish this goal to the maximum extend.

Corresponding to the deployment of GPON some interoperability tests need to be conducted between the currently installed 5020 MGC-10 Rel R27.2.3 and the proposed 7342 GPON. This offer includes these testing services along with some on-site integration services in order to allow smooth deployment of GPON.

2. GENERAL FUNCTIONALITY

The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU platform provides unmatched, scalable bandwidth using GPON technology for video, voice, and high-speed data services. Services are delivered using a single fibre with receive and transmit wavelengths multiplexed together — along with an optional wavelength for downstream RF video. Figure below shows the elements of a complete Alcatel 7342 ISAM FTTU end to- end solution.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU system includes a packet optical line terminal (P-OLT), located in the CO, that terminates PON interfaces connected to many outlying ONTs.

The Alcatel-Lucent FTTU solution includes different types of ONTs as mentioned below:

Indoor ONT (ONT I-Series) for homes, Outdoor ONT (ONT O-Series) for homes, Business ONT (ONT B-Series) Brick MDU ONT (ONT M-Series) for multi-dwelling unit application

The Alcatel 7342 ISAM FTTU solution supports long reach from the CO to the user, up to 20 kilometres. Each fibre terminated at the OLT in the CO can be split using optical splitters, which enables the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU to serve up to 64 ONTs located at outlying subscriber sites.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 FTTU performs service differentiation and traffic flow prioritization in the ONT and P-OLT.A full bundle of services — voice, data, and video — can be provided over a single fiber cable to any residential customers whether they are living in single family units (SFUs) or MDU/MTUs, for indoor or outdoor deployment.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ONT O-Series is designed to deliver triple play services to single-family homeowners that need a Telco demarcation point outside the home. The ONT O-Series is a temperature-hardened unit ready for outdoor deployment with battery backup for lifeline services.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ONT I-Series is designed to deliver triple play services to residential, single family home customers. I-Series ONTs can either be mounted inside the home or placed freestanding on a desk, and can be equipped with a battery backup for lifeline services.

The Alcatel 7342 ONT M-Series is designed to provide services to residential subscribers in MDUs such as apartment buildings or multi-tenant units such as business buildings. The MDU ONT terminates the PON interface and has 24 POTS and 12 Port Ethernet.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 FTTU ISAM solution uses a one single mode fiber technology to connect the OLT equipment in the central office (CO) to the ONT’s located at the subscriber location. Each fiber coming from the central office site can be split up to multiple houses by means of optical splitters. Each fiber from the CO can be shared by up to 64 subscribers using optical splitters.A detailed network design (distance, splices, losses, etc) is needed to determinate which splitting ratio’s are appropriate for each case. The Alcatel-Lucent 7342 FTTU ISAM solution supports 2,4G/1,2G asymmetrical PON operation, as defined by the ITU-T G984.X GPON standard and this on each fiber coming from the central office site.

The reference fiber for the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 GPON platform is ITU-T G.652.

3. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The 7342 FTTU ISAM solution features the following key elements:

P-OLT: the Packet Optical Line Termination unit that provides central processing, switching, and control functions

ONT: the Optical Network Terminal located at the subscriber premises EMS: the Element Management System, 5520 AMS

Note: The V-OLT (the Video Optical Line Termination unit that distributes video signals across the PON) and the WDM coupler are not part of this offer

Alcatel 7342 FTTU Solution Components

3.1 ALCATEL 7342 FTTU O-ONT

The Alcatel 7342 FTTU O-ONT was designed for single family and small business application. The Alcatel 7342 O-ONT is environmentally hardened for external installation, but can be installed inside buildings as well. The Alcatel 7342 O-ONT has separate operator and user access areas to support a network point of demarcation.

3.2 ALCATEL 7342 FTTU I-ONT The Alcatel 7342 I-Series ONTs are designed for easy fiber termination inside single-family homes. They are compact in size and can be mounted on walls or stand freely on a desk. Each ONT terminates a GPON interface running at 2.5 Gb/s downstream and 1.2 Gb/s upstream, delivering triple play services. The Alcatel I-Series ONTs can be powered from AC outlets and can also be equipped with a battery backup for lifeline services. The bottom cover can be easily removed for access to fiber and power terminals while the service interfaces are all designed for external access. External LEDs indicating the operational states of the ONT as well as individual ports are included for user-friendly maintenance. The I-series ONTs include up to two POTS interfaces, two Ethernet interfaces, and one RF video interface.

3.3 ALCATEL 7342 FTTU GMDU-ONT (NOT PART OF OFFER)

Two different variants will serve either access through VDSL2 or Ethernet.

The Alcatel MDU-Series ONTs are designed for fiber termination outside multi-dwelling units (MDUs) or multi-tenant units (MTUs). Like the O-Series ONTs, they are hardened for outdoor installation and can tolerate extreme temperatures, lightning, and other weather-related effects. Each ONT terminates a GPON interface running at 2.5 Gb/s downstream and 1.2 Gb/s upstream, delivering triple play services. Battery backup is available for lifeline services. The MDU Series ONTs are equipped with 24 POTS and 12 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The Alcatel MDU-Series ONTs are locally powered and can be equipped with battery backup for lifeline services. The entire unit is passively cooled, meaning that there are no fans to ensure highest reliability

3.4 ALCATEL 7342 FTTU GSBU-SMALL BUSINESS UNIT (NOT PART OF OFFER)

The Alcatel 7342 B-series ONTs are designed for small-to medium-sized businesses that require connection to legacy TDM, Gigabit Ethernet and video (optional) services. Service providers can make applications such as telecommuting, videoconferencing and online collaboration a reality. The B-Series ONTs can be mounted indoors or outdoors because they are hardened and can tolerate extreme temperatures, lightning, and other weather related effects. The B-Series ONTs are ideal for communities with a mix of business and residential customers because they operate on the same GPON termination as other Alcatel ONTs, providing service providers the flexibility to deploy residential and business services on the same GPON line. Each B-Series ONT includes eight POTS interfaces, one Gigabit Ethernet interface, two E1 interfaces, and an optional RF video interface. The Alcatel B-Series ONTs can be locally powered and equipped with battery backup for lifeline services.

3.5 ALCATEL-LUCENT 7342 P-OLTThe 7342 P-OLT is the core of the GPON system. It provides capability to terminate multiple passive optical network terminations to ONTs and connect those for user and control plane traffic to the operator’s network using Ethernet technology. The P-OLT consists of two key functional blocks: network termination (NT) and line termination (LT), which actually act as a two-stage switch. The functional blocks are built on the intelligent services access manager (ISAM) platform with tiers of software applications, including communication and management protocols, core service and management applications, and transport applications.

The OLT has 14 interface slots for GPON line termination cards and two slots for network termination cards. Towards the Ethernet network, the shelf houses up to two slots for NT card positions:

EHNT-B – up to four 1-GE and one 10-GE interfaces (48G switching matrix)

The GLT4-A line termination cards support 4 ports each, thus providing up to 56 PON interfaces in total. The GPON line card contains a media access controller (MAC) that provides the interfaces towards the PON and introduces and supports Ethernet adaptation for VLAN functions and the processing of voice, data, and IPTV video services. Interconnection between NT and LT is over point-to-point links transporting Ethernet frames. This point-to-point interface is embedded in the backplane of the shelf

Besides the NT and the LTs, the following building blocks can be found:

ACU – Alarm Control Unit provides collection & distribution of ISAM & customer alarms (mandatory board)

SMAC – System Mac@ Card – contains the MAC@ of the 7342 ISAM FTTU

4. ALCATEL-LUCENT 5520 AMS

4.1 OVERVIEWThe 5520 AMS is the Element Manager of the Alcatel-Lucent broadband access product suite. The 5520 AMS brings powerful and simple to use tools to reduce the time for fault resolution and service creation, in a secured environment. This carrier class application is based on high quality architecture and offers a modular and scalable architecture.

The 5520 AMS is an enhanced platform based on the latest software technology and IT infrastructure. The 5520 AMS is the cornerstone for the new service aware management applications and will evolve the EMS platform to an application platform. The 5529 family of enhanced AMS applications are an optional set of integrated applications that are focused on subscriber management, service management, alarm management, inventory and software management functions with appropriate interface capabilities.

4.2 A NEW ENVIRONMENT FOR THE 5520 AMSCurrent broadband access networks are being transformed: broadband access networks move away from ATM and hybrid networks towards full Ethernet and IP.

The new technology allows broadband access networks to support multiple services and topologies. Triple play services (high-speed internet, VoIP, IPTV) are offered using the same multi-service Access Multiplexer while the broadband access topology allows a mixture of copper and fibre. Deep fibre penetration in the broadband access network has become a default architecture and is supported with 7330 FTTN and 7342 FTTU

4.3 THE IMPACT ON THE 5520 AMSCustomer networks are being transformed: Triple-play services are required and broadband access networks are being used to deliver critical services. This results in more complex service activation scenarios and stresses the service assurance activities from alarm monitoring to pro-active service management and qualified QOS monitoring.

New IP forwarding models have been introduced to cope with different services. This has resulted in a complex set of provisioning parameters. The OSS systems do not have the flexibility to rapidly adapt to the fast introduction of new services. Therefore the required OSS-interfaces must be stable and backward compatible with defined services.

The multi-service environment and the mixture of residential and business subscribers also need highly available systems to meet strict minimum reliability and downtime requirements

4.4 THE 5520 AMS ARCHITECTUREThe 5520 AMS architecture is designed to manage the new broadband access environment. The technology allows building carrier-class solutions to manage, in a reliable way, the new broadband access networks supporting multiple services and topologies.

The 5520 AMS provides a fully modular and hot pluggable system that accelerates field deployment through reduced customer lab entry / exit times.

The 5520 AMS is the converged platform for the complete suite of Alcatel-Lucent broadband access products, including 7300 ASAM, 7301 ASAM, 7302 ISAM, 7324 RU, 7330 ISAM FTTN, 7342 ISAM FTTU, 7354 ISAM RU and 7356 REM.

The new AMS software architecture allows local redundancy and geographical redundancy for high-availability and has the potential for creating clusters of machines that load balance between them.

The 5520 AMS architecture allows a broader range of supported hardware and the use of secure protocols (SNMPv3, SSH, SFTP, …) to communicate with the network elements that support these protocols.

The 5520 AMS client architecture

The 5520 AMS client software distribution

The 5520 AMS client is a separate software entity that runs either on a Windows-based PC or Solaris-based workstation.

The 5520 AMS client software is distributed from the 5520 AMS application server. The AMS client requires having an IP-link with the AMS application server and a Java runtime version 1.5.0 or later.

As depicted in Figure 2, the 5520 AMS client navigates to the client distribution window on the server, which includes instructions for downloading the 5523 AWS client for Windows and Solaris.

The 5520 AMS client software upgrades and extensions

The 5520 AMS client can download the latest AMS client software upgrades. The 5520 AMS GUI provides the capability to search for software upgrade and new extensions. The new extensions include for instance the Client software for the 5529 Enhanced AMS applications.

As depicted in Figure 3, the 5520 AMS client GUI offers the capability to search for updates and new features to install.

A client installation log is included as well. A user-friendly web-page makes the client installation history available on a browser (see Figure 4).

4.5 THE 5520 AMS FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEWGraphical User Interface

The graphical user interface (GUI) of the 5520 AMS is a Zero-install client (Windows & Solaris). The GUI has the ability to be localized per region, and displays the racks, shelves, boards and ports in a realistic view. The operator has the option to navigate in the element tree or use the graphical representation of the equipment to navigate to the involved object. The GUI also displays alarm information through standard colour and text indicators that are used throughout to aid the operator in getting a quick and accurate overview of the system. An example is given below:

All applications have a consistent user interface. In other words, the handling of windows, menus etc. on the screen is done exactly the same way no matter what particular application the user is running. Furthermore the object names are unique and consistently used in the different applications i.e. a network element is always referenced with the same name in all applications. Similar functions are named and represented consistently i.e. pushbuttons for termination of the applications have one specific representation.

All GUI related parts are developed within one and the same framework. The result is a uniform user interface for all application modules. The user interface is windows based and a universal set of attributes is reused over all applications.

Color-coding of graphical symbols is used for indicating the status of the represented objects.

The 5520 AMS uses the concept of “perspectives”. A perspective is a collection of windows related to a specific function of the system like fault management, configuration or scheduling. This allows the operator to quickly switch between tasks without having to open and close all the involved of windows.

Online help is provided through the use of tooltips and attached URLs, these URLs can point to any help file or other information that can be useful to the operator. Besides these help functions, the operator can add comments to almost any object. An operator can for example add a comment to a port that he is troubleshooting as info for an operator that comes after him.

Network/Equipment views

The network view of the 5520 AMS consists of a tree view, which displays all Network Elements as defined. Network elements can be grouped together along geographical domains or otherwise to facilitate the management of very big networks. The Network View also depicts with a colour indication the current status of the nodes. The tree can be expanded in order to allow the operator to zoom in to the detailed configuration of the network element.

The graphical view is a realistic representation of the groups and the network element as selected in the network view. It allows the operator to drill down in the network element (rack/shelf/board/port). All configuration options relevant to the zoom level are displayed in the object details window.

Alarm management

Alarm management is modelled after the 5523 AWS R7 and consists of alarm collections from the nodes. A presentation window in the 5520 AMS GUI enables the operators to view, to acknowledge and to delete alarms. Alarms are colour coded according to severity. There is easy navigation between the alarm and the object that reported the alarm and by double clicking the alarm entry the operator gets all details of the alarm including the proposed repair actions. Both a current and a historical alarm list are available and cleared alarms are moved manually or through a predefined schedule from the current list to the historical list. The number of days that alarms remain in the historical list before they are deleted can be configured.

Profiles & Templates

Profiles

Profiles exist in the Network Elements. A Profile is a group of related attribute values. Profiles make the node provisioning much easier. The network operator sets a pointer to the applicable profile(s) instead of configuring each parameter individually.

During the NE pre-provisioning phase, the profiles are made available in the network element. This can be done through craft-access or with 5520 AMS. The 5520 AMS can configure all profiles in the network elements.

Templates

Templates exist in the 5520 AMS. A Template is a data model of a profile. The 5520 AMS can model every node profile into a template. Via the use of templates, the 5520 AMS is able to manage the use of profiles in the Access network.

The 5520 AMS is able to manage all profiles as defined in the network elements through the use of templates. Profile templates can be created based on the type of network element and its software release. Profile templates can be given a friendly name and can be uploaded to one or several network elements. Templates can also be discovered from an already configured network element. This gives an easy method to copy profiles from one network element to several other network elements.

Profile Management

It’s very likely that operators will deploy multiple services concurrently in the network. For each service, the operator will use a set of profiles. The combination of multiple services normally leads to an operational environment where many profiles are in use. This can result in a complex and error sensitive situation.

Via the use of Templates and Template Groups, the 5520 AMS has the capability to manage the use of profiles in a structured way. Service profiles can be grouped together and a network wide profile deployment is possible.

The 5520 AMS allows to group templates and to download the group, in a single command, to one or more network elements. For each deployed service or combination of services, a Template Group can be defined. Template groups can be deployed in the same way as profile templates, thus avoiding manual interventions and human errors.

Real Time Performance Management

With the 5520 AMS the operator has the ability to trace in real time one or more performance measurement counters available in the network element. The selected counters are displayed in tabular form or in a graph plot allowing the operator to assess the activity and come more quickly to the root cause of a certain problem.

Network Element Backup, Restore and Download

The backup/restore application allows the operator to initiate a backup or a restore of the network element database. For the backup part he has the ability to schedule this action so it can be performed during night time. The backup can be triggered on an individual network element or on multiple network elements.

The 5520 AMS also has the ability to manage, download and activate the network element software. An operator has the ability to select which software package he wants to download to one or multiple network elements. This can be done immediately or can be scheduled. Once downloaded the operator can activate the SW on the network element.

Scheduling

The 5520 AMS scheduling agent allows the operator to create schedules that can be used in other applications like SW download or backup. Both one time and repetitive schedules can be created.

User/session Management

A user can be created and a specific profile can be assigned to him. This profile is a set of functional rights to perform certain actions on specific applications.

When an operator logs in, the operator must provide a username and password. Once authenticated, a user session is created between the operator position and the server. This session is used to uniquely identify the operator. All actions of a user that modify the network are being logged and saved in a log file.

RADIUS/LDAP authentication

Local and Remote operator authentication is possible. Remote authentication is based on the use of an LDAP server.

The RADIUS protocol enables an operator to utilise a centrally located authentication server to authenticate the operators when they log in. The EMS can address the LDAP server directly or through a RADIUS server

4.6 THE 5520 AMS SOLUTIONSNetwork Pre-provisioning

The 5520 AMS is the core system for network commissioning and pre-provisioning activities. The 5520 AMS provides the capabilities for infrastructure preparation, equipment planning and service planning.

Before network equipment is deployed, the equipment is pre-provisioned with the appropriate configuration. Via the use of Profiles the network elements are prepared. In every type of NE, there is a list of profiles; each profile type represents a set of coherent parameters.

The 5520 AMS provides the capabilities to manage profiles in a structured way i.e. profiles are typically grouped together and associated with a typical service/equipment rollout. Therefore the 5520 AMS offers the use of profile Templates and Template Groups.

Profiles can be setup and tested in a lab environment. Profile configuration can either be done with 5520 AMS or with direct Craft access. The profiles can be uploaded to the AMS and be managed through Profile Templates. It is also possible to first create the templates on the 5520 AMS and then download them to the NEs.

The 5520 AMS allows to group templates in a Template Group. Template Groups are typically associated with a certain Equipment type or a Service. The 5520 AMS can download a Template Group to one or multiple network elements. This allows for a new network wide service introduction. Once downloaded, the equipment is pre-provisioned and further service and equipment provisioning can take place.

Network Equipment Planning

The 5520 AMS can manage the Network Equipment Planning. The 5520 GUI gives an advanced representation of the NE equipment state.

Shelves and Boards can be provisioned via Craft or via 5520 AMS. The 5520 AMS is able to monitor the resulting states. The 5520 AMS gives a consistent view on board planning using a specific color scheme in the GUI.

Boards have a planned state (configured in 5520 AMS) and a detected state (in the network). The 5520 AMS discovers the detected state and compares it with the planned state. Both states are represented in the 5520 AMS GUI.

This results in an appropriate management of Equipment Planning. The AMS displays the plugged configuration and notes deviations from the planned configuration via an appropriate colour scheme. This is important when trying to describe the state of an NE to a technician in the field who might have to make changes.

Apart from the planned and the detected state, the 5520 AMS provides

additional information on the actual Power state, the Administration state, the Availability state and the Operational state. In this way, the 5520 AMS allows to be an important component in the Network Planning and Building solution.

Network Equipment Troubleshooting

The 5520 AMS is the core system for network troubleshooting. The 5520 AMS allows to navigate between the Alarm and the equipment view. For detailed troubleshooting, the 5520 AMS generates specific Table views for long lists of information. The tables can be sorted and re-arranged easily to draw the operator’s attention.

The 5520 AMS provides dedicated alarm view windows. Most of the AMS GUI windows include object’s info with alarm info. For instance, the equipment tree view, the equipment object details window and the graphical equipment view include the alarm state info.

4.7 ACCESS CONTROLThe AMS allows assignment of roles to users to limit the access they have to network equipment and services even after successful login. At creation, each user is assigned a functional access profile and a partition access profile.

Functional Access Profile

This profile defines the actions that the user can perform. Following default functional access profiles are available:

Viewer – User can view, but not modify, network and equipment information. Constructor – User can create and delete objects within the Network. Administrator – User has no restrictions. Software Administrator – User with Software management capabilities only.

The administrator can create additional profiles and the following functional areas can be assigned to the profile: alarm, backup, cpevendorid, customizablehelp, license, monitor, network, restore, schedule, sip, snmp, sntp, swmgmt, template, tl1gw and usermanagement.

This allows to create specific user profiles such as :

- Maintenance operator profile- User Security Administrator profile

If the AMS is integrated with optional modules, the list of functions will be updated. For example APC is an optional module. When it is integrated with the AMS, specific apc-functions will become available for user profile management.

Partition Access Profile

On top of the functional access profile, additional restrictions can be enforced through the use of partition access profiles. Partition Access Profiles (PAP) allow limiting an operator's visibility to a specific area of the access network. When creating a network element a specific PAP is assigned to that network element. The operator has only access to a network element if the PAP profile assigned to the operator contains the PAP of the network element. Several PAP profiles can be assigned to an operator.

4.8 AUTHENTICATIONOperators are authenticated via a local userid-password mechanism or via a centralised authentication database through the use of RADIUS or LDAP. The AMS can address the LDAP server directly or through a RADIUS server as illustrated in Error: Reference source not found

The operator profile can be provided via RADIUS through Vendor Specific Attributes (VSA). In case the Radius server doesn't return the operator profile, the assigned profile will be the locally defined default one.

4.9 SECURE COMMUNICATIONThe following secure protocols are available toward the NE: SNMPv3, SSH and SFTP.

Backup Restore and SW download using SFTP

Backup Restore and SW download using SFTP

SFTP can be used for providing security in Backup/restore and SW download.

The NE (e.g. ISAM/GPON node) has to be configured as SFTP client and the AMS file server works as SFTP server.

The AMS supports password authentication and public key authentication.

Secure NE communication through SNMP V3

The AMS is able to communicate with an NE that supports SNMPv3. (snmpGet, snmpGet-Next, snmpGet-Bulk, SnmpSet, SnmpWalk). SNMPv3 traps are also supported.

The SNMP connection information is present inside an SNMP Security Profile object. The SNMP Security Profile contains all relevant security parameters together and can be assigned to the NE.

The NE will be configured through CLI (telnet/SSH to NE and change configuration). In other words an operator will have to create the SNMP users on the NE directly, and not through the AMS.

Continuous support of SNMP v1.

The AMS will continue to support SNMPv1 at the same time. For example, a user can first connect to the NE through SNMPv1 by specifying the right SNMP Security Profile, and then disconnect from the NE (i.e. stop the supervision) and reconnect to it through SNMPv3 by specifying a different SNMPv3 Security Profile.

The SNMP connection information is configured in the SNMP Security Profile object. A user has to create the profile with the right SNMP parameters. When creating an NE connection, the user has to select the corresponding profile. A set of default profiles is created at AMS installation time. They cover all the SNMP variations (i.e. SNMPv1, SNMPv3 AuthWithPrivacy, SNMPv3 NoAuthNoPrivacy).

A user can create new SNMP Security Profiles, assign them to NEs, and can also delete an SNMP Security Profile if it has NOT been assigned to any NE yet. A user can edit an SNMP Security Profile even if it was assigned to different NEs. After editing the profile, the NEs that were using it will be using the newly configured parameters that the SNMP Security Profile contains.

An SNMP Security Profile has an unique name. When creating a new Profile, its name must be unique, otherwise an error message will be displayed and the create operation fails.

SNMP Security Profile Parameters

The AMS has the SNMP version as a selectable field inside the SNMP Security Profile window.

When SNMPv1 is selected, the user has to enter the corresponding parameters (port number, read and write community strings) in order to create the Profile.

When SNMPv3 version is supported, the user must enter the following parameters: context name, security level, security name, authentication protocol and its corresponding password, encryption protocol and its corresponding password.

Support of different levels of security

The AMS allows to configure three security levels. These are:

1. No Authentication and no Encryption (basically similar to SNMPv1)

2. Authentication and Encryption

3. Authentication with No Encryption

5. SPLITTER RECOMMENDATIONS (SPLITTERS NOT INCLUDED IN OFFER)

Splitters:

Splitting can be done in a single or multi stage, with splitting up to a maximum of 64 per PON interface. Splitters are available on the market as 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32 and 1:64

Realizing that splitters are the most optical budget consuming elements in a PON network, it is necessary to identify and select products that can meet an overall best optical performance with the lowest possible Insertion Loss in order to optimize the network span. Small size, high reliability, and low cost of these optical splitters are important for ensuring a good end-to-end performance.

6. SCOPE OF SUPPLY

6.1 ACCESS EQUIPMENT

A) 7342 ISAM FTTU - POLT :

As requested by NayaTel, a total of 3 x 7342 FTTU ISAM’s (1 Rack with 1 OLT shelf) have been provided in total.

7342 GPON-POLT Configuration

- 24 x 4 GPON (Ports) boards have been provided.

- As each LT Board provides four PON interfaces therefore a maximum total of 6144 possible ONT’s can be supported.

- 5000 ONT's have been actually quoted, a usage ratio of 81%. (The assumption of 1 x 64 Splitters is taken)

- Redundant NT configuration with 2x 10 Gbit/s uplink (one (1) XFP 10GE per NT card)

(NT card is the EHNT-B 48G Switching Matrix)

B) ONT’s:

A total of 5000 ONT’s have been proposed for this offer.

Breakdown of the different ONT variants is below.

Training is not part of the offer.

-Site preparation (Air Conditioning, Power and Transmission etc) is under the responsibility of Customer.

- Appropriate Network Connectivity and transmission is under customer’s responsibility

- Our proposal does not include any supply nor laying of Optic Fiber nor supply of splitters and any other part of the OSP.

- ODF and required optical patch cables (for SFP and XFP) will be NayaTel’s responsibility.

FT-Orange group chooses GPON technology

On December 15, 2006 , France Telecom announced the second phase of its Fiber To The Home (FTTH) plan. After an initial pilot phase with Alcatel-Lucent in 2006, the aim is to connect 150-200K subscribers (of an estimated potential of 1

million) by the end of 2008, to its very high speed broadband services. Broader deployment of FTTH is foreseen in 2009 and beyond, when the content and services will be available to justify the capacity up to 100 Mbps for its customer base. FT-Orange group chooses GPON technology, as the GPON architecture allows for lower fibre installation and civil engineering costs. The total investment over the two years is estimated at 270 million euros and is in line with the FT's NExT (New Experience in Telecom services) strategy in terms of the ratio of CAPEX to consolidated revenues. The NExT programme will enable the FT Group to pursue its transformation as an integrated operator, supported by its renewed model for profitable growth. Didier Lombard, the (Orange) Group’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, explains: “After an initial pilot phase in 2006, the Group is stepping up a gear, increasing the range of very high speed broadband services available with Orange as well as expanding the regional coverage of its network for the future. This new phase will pave the way for the broader deployment of fibrer to the home, which we foresee in 2009 and beyond, when there will be content and services available which would justify such capacity for many of our customers.”

See the press release of December, 15th:Furthermore, the mobile operator Orange Slovensko (a subsidiary of the Orange group in Slovakia) announced that it will launch Triple Play services in three major Slovak towns - Bratislava district Petrzalka, Trnava and Piestany. This Fiber To The Home (FTTH) project, based upon GPON technology, will deliver HSIA, digital TV and VoIP services to residential subscribers.

Alcatel-Lucent also recently signed a contract for the commercial trial of GPON technology introduction to Telekomunikacja Polska (TP), the largest operator in Central-Eastern Europe region. Alcatel-Lucent will provide a solution based on ISAM 7342 FTTU including OLT, ONT equipment, training and end-to-end deployment services. This is the first GPON deployment in TP's network as the basis for the future oriented high speed internet access services for high density residential areas. The ISAM 7342 GPON platform has been selected as the preferred solution for the commercial trial after successful tests in TP R&D lab.

TransACT Capital Communications, a Canberra-based telecommunications carrier, will complete a fibre to the home (FTTH) rollout to new greenfield sites in Canberra. The network will cover 1,000 premises and an anticipated population of 2,500 people by 2013.Project developers in Canberra, in conjunction with the Land Development Agency, issued a tender for the FTTH project last year, which was subsequently won by TransACT. The deployment is TransACT’s first venture into Gigabit passive optical network (GPON) FTTH technology. Alcatel-Lucent was then chosen after a competitive tender process against eight other providers to design and deploy the network.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Communications goes for FTTU

Already in August 2005 – Alcatel-Lucent has been chosen by the State Ministry of Communications (MOC) in Kuwait to supply a GPON solution to serve about 60 % of the access areas. Meanwhile some 29 000 GPON ONTs have been delivered for deployment.

Alcatel-Lucent, as strategic partner to MOC, is responsible for the full end-to-end system integration, both for the network and the service roll out.

By replacing the existing copper access with a passive optical fiber infrastructure, MOC's access network is gradually upgraded. Subscribers are already benefiting from this state-of-the art converged access infrastructure that enables the delivery of services like voice, high speed Internet, voice and multimedia over IP, and IPTV (including high definition TV, video on demand, and home entertainment).
