Welcome to the latest edition of @ the Library. As we near the end of 2011, we weredelighted to receive the news that VPL has been shortlisted for the Ontario Ministryof Tourism and Culture’s Angus Mowat Award of Excellence for our Teen Engagementinitiatives. This award recognizes excellence in service delivery and this nomination

acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our staff in renewing VPL’s commitment to serve the teensin the City of Vaughan by offering exciting programming, relevant services and updated, teen-friendlyspaces.

In 2011 we started our migration from our obsolete security system to a new system. This may havecaused some inconveniences for a few customers. We would like to thank everyone for their patience andsupport during this transition. Once fully implemented, this new system will offer improved conveniencefor material self check-out and improve the security and protection of VPL’s resources.

An important duty of the Board is to look forward to ensure that we maintain our library materials. Toprepare for infrastructure investments for library materials the Board has approved the creation of areserve contribution fund for the purchase of new library materials. Annual contributions to this reservefund will be important to meet future requirements to replace and maintain the VPL collection andaddress the expected growth of the VPL over the foreseeable future.

As we close the book on the year 2011 and look forward to 2012 we remain dedicated to our mission to"offer welcoming destinations that educate, excite and empower our community" and provide more reasons tosee you @ the Library.

Map of Library Locations
