  • Girls Night Outby Susan Campbell

Yes its ladies night, and the feelings right, sang Kool and the Gang. Here on Aruba, the feelings right for ladies night every night of the week! Follow our lead for an epic girls night out on the town.

While Aruba has an abundance of romantic enclaves and tte--tte hide-aways for couples, the island can also be party central 24 /7 for girls who just want to have fun. From surfside, stiletto-in-the-sand spots and laid-back local hang-outs to ritzy glam lounges and lively clubs, theres something to suit every girls whim and more. And theres no need to wait until the sun goes down for you to get down and really get into the enchanting spirit of this island paradise.

Daylight hot spotsWhen preparing to hit the town in

high style, why not gather the girls be-forehand at a local spa for a session of head-to-toe pampering and polish? (See page 44 for some great spas to start!) Then head off for the islands daytime delights and soak up some sun while you plan your evening escapade. Try Reflextions, just outside of Oranjestad,

with its whirlpool lounges right in the pool and seaside daybeds complete with beach service. While Reflextions is an ideal place to start, plan to circle back there much later at night when it morphs into a killer dance club with hot DJs. Cocktail hour is very much in vogue on this island, especially at Pure Beach at the Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort where creative tapas and couches in the sand recreate a South Beach vibe. Take time for a last dip in the sea there before transforming yourself for an exciting night out.

Ease in to the evening Start sophisticated with a girls get-

together at a snazzy lounge. A must-visit is the lobby bar in the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino which has a new addition called the Greatroom where you can savor the islands only cocktails made with real aloe, and where they have

a brand new concept for quick bites. The offerings are divided into the time it takes to get them 5, 10, and 20 minutes, and they also have some very cool new cocktail concoctions on their menu. Or try the signature blue drinks at Blue mar tini lounge in the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. Rub shoulders with the local tycoons and up-and-comers who gather for cocktails after work. The Blue lounge becomes a party spot later in the evening, replete with a humun-gous video wall. Craving a little Asian-style snack and a sip of sake before hit-ting the town? Sushi-Yas lovely little lounge NextDoor is just the spot. Or how about a glass of fine wine to get you in

the mood? Fusion Wine & Piano Bar in the Alhambra Mall has a vast selection of quality vintages guaranteed to satisfy. And Piazza Italia can also start your night off right with signature Italian aperitifs and pasta snacks.

Get set to strut out with a sunsetTo catch a spectacular seaside sunset

before heading out, grab a table at the Radissons Mira Solo Wine Bar for small bites and a drink. Or head out to the charm-ing Pinchos Grill & Bar on a pier just outside downtown Oranjestad a perfect spot to watch the last rays on the water before the sun sinks into the sea. And the Pinchos team have just opened a

sister beach bar called The West Deck, one of the first new establishments loca-ted on the brand new Linear Park of Aruba at Governors Bay. They also serve cool drinks and small plates right by the waters edge. (Try their unique Beer-rita!)

These are just a few of the starters Aruba offers before you hit the clubs with your friends.

Let your hair downNot in the mood to get all gussied

up after a long day at the beach? Aruba has plenty of laid-back places to go casual and just enjoy good company, small bites, frosty brews, and cool cocktails. Local hangouts include Eetcaf The Paddock, E

  • a popular spot for local futball fans to hang out and watch the games. Look for the huge cow, dinosaur, and car on the roof in downtown Oranjestad. Hear great tunes and chill at The Sopranos Piano Bar, where guests are encouraged to sing along fueled by liquid courage from signature drinks like the Bikini Martini. If karaoke is more your girls-go-crazy singing style, then Mulligans at the Divi Golf & Beach Resort on Thursday nights is the place to release your inner Beyonc, Britney or Whitney in five different languages.

Go local or loca!Doesnt get more local than Local

Store across from the Royal Plaza Mall not a store, but a bar offering authen-tic drinks, entertainment, and food. Try the fresh fruit batido and add your shot

of choice to give it more punch. Still across from Royal Plaza Mall, 7 West is a restaurant and nightclub combined. In a modern European setting, 7 West has managed to create a casual and intimate party atmos phere. And if youre looking for authentic Dutch watering holes, then Bingo! Cafe & Restaurant and Caf 080 are your best local bets, especially if youre hungry for a late night snack. Surfside rocking rules at MooMba Beach, home of the unique Aruba sport of beach tennis. This Eagle Beach party place is also a great local hangout, especially on Sunday nights, for DJ-driven and live music blowouts. And if wild and zany bar antics suit your mood, then you and your gal pals should head for Seor Frogs on the main tourist strip for la vida loca replete with balloon hats, yards of beer, and crazy drink and dance contests.

Turn up the heatTheres nothing hotter than a sultry

Latin vibe to stir up your nightbeat crav-ings, so a good place to start is Mojitos Cantina & Grill in downtown Oranjestad for mojitos (of course) and tapas-style snacks. Then sashay down the street to the Renaissance Marketplace for Old Havana-style heat at Cubas Cookin. Their sizzling live dance and music show and salsa lessons, along with first-rate fare and more signature mojitos are bound to set your night alight. If you dont have a dance partner, their hot waiters are more than happy to accompany single ladies onto the floor to strut their sexy stuff.

Go for the full-on frenzy! So now its full-on party time and

dancing is definitely on the agenda. Gusto on the strip will get you going with steamy tunes and handsome bartenders, amid a neon light show. And then, Oranjestads Caf Chaos will offer pure party pande-monium in a chic, clubby atmosphere that starts late and ends even later. After that, if youve done some things to feel guilty about, or are still wishing that you had, slip behind the velvet VIP ropes of Confession Club where wild and crazy events and unadulterated enjoyment have become the new religion.

If your group would rather roll while they rock, then a party bus outing might be just the thing. The Kukoo Kunuku bar-hopping bus tour promises a fun-filled, rowdy ride where you can twist, scream, shout, and let it all hang out while you explore the best of Aruba nightlife.

Let us entertain youPaseo Herencia often has live enter-

tainment at their outside venue in the courtyard, and there are many bars and terraces to sit and watch their nightly liquid fireworks show. Or, discover how locals kick it Carnival style. Travel out to San Nicolas for parades, live shows, arts, local eats, and drinks on Mainstreet in the historic old town where the Carubbian Festival rocks every Thursday night. (Ask your hotel concierge for transportation options and packages.) And dont forget to stop by legendary Charlies Bar while there to try one of their world-famous boozer coladas.

Cheers ladies. Enjoy your night! K
