In all our projects, our design process arises from a single motivation: the use of light as a material

artec3 Studio is a Barcelona-based independent lighting design practice with offices in London, Sao Paulo and Mexico City. Founded in 1998 by lighting designer Maurici Ginés, the studio´s creative team collaborates with well-known architects.

Working in close collaboration with team leaders and other consultants through all stages of the design process —concept design, sche-matic design, technical design, construction, and site supervision— we create new ways to perceive and experience architectural and urban space through the use of high-quality lighting design. In all our projects, our aim is to incorporate energy efficiency, the latest technology, and interaction with daylight.

Frequently, a lighting design project requires a special product for seam-less integration with the architecture. We develop bespoke luminaires to make the lighting concept a reality.

Light both evokes and conveys emotion. Using state-of-the-art technology, we create artistic instal-lations that promote and explore the interactions of light, people, sound, and space.

Maurici GinésManaging DirectorMaurici leads a skilled team formed by lighting designers, architects, engineers, industrial designers, and multimedia artists.

He is the current President of the Professional Lighting Designers Association (APDI) in Spain, and a PLDA and IALD professional member. Maurici is also a professor in the Lighting Design postgraduate course at the Politecnic University of Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona. His award-winning work has been widely published.
