TRUNNION-MOUNTED BALLThe ball is fixed and the seat rings are floating, free to move along the valve axis. Side load generated by the pressure acting on the ball is absorbed by bearings. At low pressure the seat sealing action is achieved by the thrust of the springs acting on the seat rings. As the pressure increases the fluid pressure pushes the seat rings against the ball.

HEAVY-DUTY TRUNNION IN FOGED CARBON OR STAINLESS STEEL This design is standardin sized 2” though 12” forall pressure class and available over 12”.

FLOATING SEAT RINGSTwo independent floating seat rings assure the bi-directional tightness of the valve. The seats are carefully designed to minimize the torque required to operate the valves without losing sealing power, which is assured from zero differential pressure to the valve’s maximum rated pressure.

DOUBLE BLOCK & BLEEDThe double block and bleed feature, both with the ball in the fully closed or fully openposition, is a standard feature.

INDEPENDENT BALL AND STEMThe ball and stem are independent to minimize the effect of the side thrust generated by the pressureacting on the ball.

WELDED BODY DESIGNThis design has the same features of the above Tree-piece design, but the covers are welded to body.

INDEPENDENT BALL AND STEMThe ball and stem are independent to minimize the effect of the side thrust generated by the pressureacting on the ball.

FLOATING SEAT RINGSTwo independent floating seat rings assure the bi-directional tightness of the valve. The seats are carefully designed to minimize the torque required to operate the valves without losing sealing power, which is assured from zero differential pressure to the valve’s maximum rated pressure.

CASTING TWO-PIECE BODY DESIGNThis design has the same features of the above Tree-piece design. The body is made of casting materials. Some materials can not be obtained by forging, in this case the Two-piece Body is a good alternative.

SEAT SEALING Seats inserts of synthetic material shuch as Nylon, PTFE, or Peek are contained in the seat ring. With very low lne pressure, sealing is achieved by seat springs. With higher line pressure, the floating seat ring is pushed against the ball, which results in tighter sealing.

BLOW OUT PROFF STEM

Internally inserted “back seated” stem assures fire safey and blow-out prevention .

DOUBLE SEALS AT JOINTSAll connecting parts employ a double sealing design : Graphite and an o-ring to ensure positive sealing and the Fire Safe feature

STEM SEALING

The graphite gasket can be replaced while the valve is underpressure and with the ball in anyposition, by removing the adaptorplate, after having released any pressure that may exist betweenthe upper O-ring and the graphitegasket, through the greaseinjection fitting hole.

STEM SEALING AND EMERGENCY SEALING Two O-rigs and one graphite gasket, contained in the trunnion bushig, ensure the stem seal. An emergency sealant injection fitting is located between the stem O-rings.

EMERGENCY SEALANT INJECTION SYSTEM

For 4 inch and larger trunnion mounted ball valves, or small valves on request, special sealants may be injected though a sealant injection fittings that are located on the side closures. A check valve is internally installed to prevent backflow of the sealant.

When seat ring insert is damaged in a fire, the line pressure and the seat preloaded seat ring push the seat metal lip into the ball surface to cut off the line fluid and prevent the internal leakage to reach fire-safe purpose.

SOFT-SEATED VALVESIn valves designed for standard service, a resilient material is inserted into the metal seat holder to providea soft seating action in addition to the metal to metal seating between the ball and the seat rings.

XANIK BALL VALVE DESIGN FEATURES

METAL-SEATED VALVESValves designed for critcal service or for operation in temperatures that prohibit the use of a resilient material, have seating action provided by the metal to metal contact between the ball and the seat rings. Seating faces are hardfaced. Metal to metal sealed design is made by advanced hardening technologies, such HVOF technologies. Nickel base spray welding, ceramic material or Stellite spray welding can be used to provide a surface hardness of the ball and seats as hard as HRC74.

SELF-RELIEVING SEATS

Fluid pressure, both upstreamand downstream, creates aresultant thrust that pushes theseat rings against the ball.

Fluid pressure acting in thebody cavity creates a resultantthrust that pushes the seatrings away from the ball.The seats design permits the automatic releaseof any overpressure in the bodycavity when the valve is in thefully open or fully closedposition, therefore the seatrings are “self-relieving”.
