y Aguilar was born in the small town ofVillanueva in thestate ofZacatecas. He spent his early childhood in a

hacienda first built in 1596 in the town ofTayahua,about 35 km from Villanueva. Aguilar's family acquiredthis property in the early 19th century.

y Antonio Aguilar was the first Mexican performer to mix rodeos andconcerts while touring his show in Latin America and the UnitedStates.[2] He made 167 movies and has been compared to Americanactors like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and Ronald Reagan. Aguilar gainedfame as the singing, rural policeman "Mauricio Rosales" in El rayojusticiero (1955). The film spawned seven more films about Mauricioand his sidekick "Emeterio Berlanga", portrayed by character actorAgustn IsunzaAmongst his best ranchera films are Yo... el aventurero(1959), Caballo prieto azabache (1968) El ojo de vidrio (1969), andValente Quintero (1973). Aguilar appeared in Americanwestern filmslike 1969's The UndefeatedstarringJohn Wayne.[1] He also made amemorable starring role alongside Flor Silvestre in Triste recuerdo(1991).

y For contributions to the recording industry, Antonio Aguilar Barrazawas honored with a staron the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7056Hollywood Boulevard.[3] He was similarly honored with his handprintsand star on the Paseo de las Luminarias in Mexico Cityfor his work inmovies and in the recording industry.

y Antonio Aguilar began his recording career in 1950,eventually making over 150 albums and selling morethan 25 million records. He was known for his corridoswith some of his best known songs including "Gabino

Barrera", "Caballo Prieto Azabache", "Albur de Amor",and "Un Puo De Tierra". Antonio was also largelyresponsible for the renewed popularity of the tamboramusic in the mid 1980s, when he single-handedlyresuscitated the genre with the hit "Triste Recuerdo".To this day he has been the only Hispanic artist to sellout the Madison Square Garden ofNew York Cityforsix consecutive nights on 1997.

In addition to Pepe Aguilar, he had anotherchild with Flor Silvestre who is the oldest, AntonioAguilar, Jr. His grandchildrenEmiliano,Aneliz,Leonardo,and Angela are PepeAguilar's children. Maria Jose and Flor Susana areAntonio Aguilar Jr's. Children.
