Shin (シン) CV: Kakihara Tetsuya (柿原 徹也)

Despite being one year younger than the heroine, Shin is a very responsible and mature young man. In fact, being younger merely spurs him on to become the type of man that can be with her. Unfortunately, in this route he has to deal with the heroine’s ridiculous rendition of a five year old or a prude virgin. If only the GOOD END involved him breaking up with her.

Lin decides to look for Shin and Toma, but Shin specifically. She finds him standing with Toma and talking. When Shin notices her looking at him, he asks if she shouldn’t be looking elsewhere although it’s very crowded. Orion is confused but Toma explains that Ikki and Kent found a secret base that some kids probably made. They are trying to upgrade it by reinforcing the roof and camouflaging the entrance. Toma sighs and thinks that if no one stops them then even the kids won’t be able to find their own secret base. Shin asks Toma when he thinks the right timing is to stop them. Orion is taken aback by how adultlike Shin and Toma are being and he comments on how the men at the Maid and Butler Cafe are weird. The adults who act like children and the teenagers who act like adults. He refuses to say which one is more problematic.

Anyway, Toma decides that he’ll stop them since the two can’t be left alone. He orders Shin to take Lin for a walk, to which Shin looks annoyed and asks why. Toma points out that he’s been unusually fiddling with his cellphone all this time and isn’t it because he’s been searching for places with fireflies? Shin averts his eyes and tries to come up with an excuse, but Toma continues on to tell them that he doesn’t know if there really are good spots.

At any rate, they should go. At worst, if they don’t find any fireflies they can return next week so Toma wants them to feel at ease. Then he adds that Shin wouldn’t be able to stop Kent and Ikki anyway. Shin narrows his eyes and asks Toma what he means, to which Toma points out that Shin will just be drawn in because earlier he had commented on how Ikki’s reinforcement of the roof was too light.

Shin averts his eyes and asks Toma how he even heard that and Toma apologizes with a grin before saying that he has sharp ears. Anyway, that’s the situation and so Toma orders Shin to take care of Lin before he leaves them. Shin is glaring in silence before he grumbles about how he can’t accept Toma’s patronizing tone. He wonders if Toma had always been like that from childhood, but he feels like Toma has been getting worse or maybe it’s just him.

Orion laughs awkwardly and shrugs since they have no memories of how Toma was before. Shin changes the subject though and confirms that he did search for areas with fireflies and one of them is a short walk away. He starts to lead the way and Orion points out that although Shin hasn’t said many words since coming with them to see the fireflies, in the end it looks like he wants to show them to Lin.

But why does everyone want to show her the fireflies? Orion muses on how he hasn’t heard anything about how finding fireflies will awaken one’s warrior spirit either. He winces at Lin’s cold look and apologizes before changing the subject to point out that someone here must have promised her to look at the fireflies together. Orion tries to say more but is interrupted when Shin looks back and asks Lin if he didn’t say that they were going.

Orion winces at how they made Shin wait and Shin asks her why she’s standing around spacing out. He notes that she’s been doing that a lot lately and he asks if this is the problem with her health that Toma has been worrying about? Then he asks her if she will be able to make the trip next week to look for fireflies. He’s afraid a day trip will be too strenuous on her. Orion wonders if the trip Shin is talking about is what they overheard Toma planning.

Shin points out that if her state of health is bad then she shouldn’t overwork herself and maybe she should go to the hospital. Orion panics because they can’t go to a hospital and so he encourages Lin to say anything to deceive him. She tells Shin that it’s nothing, but he argues that the symptoms aren’t subjective and they seem pretty severe. Orion winces at how they seem to have made the situation even worse.

Lin lies about how she has been lacking in sleep, but Shin raises an eyebrow and points out that it’s been happening for a while now. What has she been doing every night for her to lack so much sleep? He points out that she doesn’t have exams to study for, unlike him. Orion laughs nervously and so Lin decides to tell Shin not to worry. Orion worries about how blunt that was, but Shin just asks if it’s something she doesn’t want to say to him.

Orion tries to stutter out a protest but Shin just muses quietly on how lately she’s been.. he trails off before telling her that it’s nothing. He starts to lead the way again and Orion sweats at how close that was. It seems like Shin is really suspicious though. It might be impossible to try and trick someone who has been with Lin in the past as a childhood friend. Orion panics when he realizes that they’re spacing out again which might make Shin angry.

They follow after Shin as he explains that there are a lot of places to see the fireflies this year. There were a lot last year as well, but there are even more this year. Because of that the town has decided to plan a firefly festival. But apparently the assembly of commerce hasn’t settled everything yet and so the official announcement will be next week. It’s an event for those who already know about it.

Anyway, Shin thinks that they might be able to see the fireflies on the venue which is where they’re going. It’s a ten minute walk away from them. Orion is questioning if that’s close or far. He asks Lin if she’s alright since he remembered feeling her foot hurt a while ago. It must be because she’s not used to the geta, but it looks like she has a blister even though she’s not wearing shoes.

Will they be able to make the ten minute walk? They do end up making it to the festival grounds and Shin explains that this is where the festival will be held, but there are no fireflies. He suggests that they loop around the grounds and head towards the pond. Orion asks her to wait since her foot hurts a lot now, but Shin has already disappeared. They didn’t say anything before because they were afraid of being told to go to the hospital.

Orion tells her that it looks like she’ll have to endure it and continue walking. Twenty minutes later, Shin realizes that there doesn’t seem to be any fireflies throughout the venue. Orion agrees weakly although they hadn’t been able to afford looking around for fireflies because of how much her feet hurt. He suggests giving up on the fireflies and asks Lin if she doesn’t want to return home.

However, Shin informs them that he still has another place that he searched up. It’s a shrine that’s within walking distance. Orion protests that it’s impossible for them to continue like this. He encourages Lin to speak up since she’s at her limit. Lin asks Shin for a little break and he asks her if she’s tired, but then he notes that they didn’t walk that far. He points out that she’s walked for longer periods of time at the Maid and Butler Cafe.

Orion nervously comments on how that isn’t it.. but Lin finally confesses that her foot hurts. Shin looks confused before he looks down and his eyes widen as he points out that the skin between her toes is bleeding. He’s angry as he asks her why she continued to walk in this state. He calls her an idiot for not saying anything earlier. Orion shouts back that the atmosphere made it so that they couldn’t say anything.

That’s why Lin endured it quietly. Shin glares and curses before he orders her to sit down at a nearby bench and wait for him. He doesn’t want her to move at all and he’ll be back soon. Orion watches Shin run off and then he complains about how Shin was angry and why at her?! It doesn’t make any sense to Orion. Five minutes later, Shin returns with a band-aid and apologizes for only being able to find this.

Once they return home they can properly treat it, but for now it’s an emergency treatment. He kneels down to apply it on her foot and comments on how it must have hurt a lot since the skin is completely torn. His voice sounds annoyed as he asks her how long it had been like this and she endured it too much. Shin stands back up after he finishes and asks if she feels better. He decides that they should give up on the fireflies for today.

Page 4: Amnesia Later Shin

They should return home and he’ll contact Toma. He asks her if she can still walk home, but if it’s too painful he can call a taxi. Orion thinks that since the injury isn’t severe it should be fine. They should be able to walk home after having this band-aid put on. Lin thanks Shin but he brushes it off and tells her that he was asking if she could walk or not. Orion rolls his eyes and sarcastically apologizes for not answering the question.

But he shouts out that it should be fine to accept their thanks anyway! Lin tells Shin that she should be able to walk home and he sighs before nodding. He advises her to disinfect her wound properly though before bacteria set in and infect it. He tells her that his house is closer and so they should head there first where she can get proper treatment. Then he asks for her hand and when she looks confused, he explains that walking must hurt.

He’s willing to hold her arm to support her. As they walk he notices that her other foot looks raw as well and must hurt. Shin grits his teeth before he apologizes quietly for not noticing. He points out that if it were any other guy, like Toma, they would have immediately noticed that she was hurt. He admits that he doesn’t have that kind of ability. He snaps out 「それにおまえ

も、オレがこういうヤツだってわかってんだろ」(Besides you should know that I’m not that kind of guy). Shin’s voice softens 「だから・・・言えよ。頼むから言って」(That’s why.. say it. Tell me that you need help). If she doesn’t then he’ll feel awful. He admits that「おまえが痛い思いしてるときに気づけなくて、黙って我慢させて悪くな

ってから知るって最悪だ」(Not noticing when you’re hurting and knowing you endured it in silence only when it worsened is the worst). Shin recalls that she was like that in the past, strangely endurant. But he tells her 「けど、そんな我慢オレの前でさせたくないんだ。・・・頼むよ」(But I don’t want you to endure things like that in front of me… rely on me). He accepts that he’s at fault for not noticing and then he suggests walking slower since it’s not like they need to rush home. But then Shin sounds annoyed as he asks her if she’s really depending on him since she’s so light, but he wants her to actually use him to help her walk. He asks himself if this is how a woman feels and hums in thought before falling silent. Then he awkwardly asks Lin that if they were seen together right now, would they look like lovers? He points out that they’re both in yukatas and their arms are linked, so it looks like they’re in the middle of a date. In reality, they’re this close to each other because of how her foot is hurt, but…

When they walk like this with their arms linked, it’s not something people who were just childhood friends would do. Shin asks her lowly 「こういう風にしてれば、さすがにおまえも・・・少しはオレのこと、意識する?」(Like this, even you would feel.. a little conscious of me, right?). He confesses 「・・・オレは・・・してるよ。すげえしてる」(… I… am. Very conscious). But he doesn’t know what she feels. Lin confesses that she feels aware of him as well. Shin’s breath catches and then he averts his eyes with a blush. But then he points out that even if she does she still has a normal expression. He doesn’t understand that. It’s not that he isn’t happy, but if it’ll be troubling if he says it out loud right now. Knowing that she’s aware of him makes him feel too heated.. Shin curses and asks her why she had to hurt her foot. If she didn’t hurt herself then she wouldn’t be holding his arm.

He realizes that this would make their current situation inconsistent. Shin falls silent with a sigh before mumbling about how this is really hard on him and it might have been better if they hadn’t said anything. He finally manages to control his blushing as he orders her to tell him if her foot hurts any more, since he can carry her on his back. He should have done that from the start, but since he’s also wearing geta it’s a little hard.

Page 5: Amnesia Later Shin

It would be silly if he carried her and they both fell over, so he thinks it’d be better if they walked to his house. But he doesn’t want her to overwork herself and so she should warn him before she reaches her limit. They finally make it to his house and Shin directs her to sit in a chair and give him her foot. He explains that he’ll disinfect the injury and replace the band-aid. It might hurt when he peels the band-aid off but she’ll have to endure it.

Orion reappears and is glad that they’ll be receiving treatment. He yelps in pain when Shin rips off the band-aid. Shin apologizes but notes that the band-aid is covered in blood. Orion winces at the pain but they can tolerate it, not to mention Shin apologized. However, Shin informs them that he’ll disinfect it now and it might sting. Tears well up in Orion’s eyes when he sees it coming and he whimpers at how painful it is.

Shin notices that her foot is trembling and he asks her if she’s alright. Orion thinks they’ll be fine though it stings a lot for just having skinned her foot. Shin informs them that there is such a thing as a disinfect that doesn’t sting, but he didn’t buy it since he doesn’t feel like those would have an effect. It is said that good medicine tastes bitter. If it didn’t then it feels like it wouldn’t be medicine.

Then Shin informs her that he’ll place a new band-aid on her. He’s sure that her house has some and so he advises her to change her band-aid when she enters the bath. He finishes and then tells her that they’ll rest here for a bit before they leave again. He’ll escort her home. He also tells her to wait while he phones Toma. Orion sighs in relief at how her foot has finally been treated and it feels like he can breathe again.

They can hear Shin talking to Toma as he explains that Lin skinned her foot and so she’s at his house. He’ll be taking her home after this and so they won’t be returning to where everyone else is. Then he asks what Toma is doing but when he finds out he snaps at Toma to stop it. He calls him an idiot for staying silent and letting things happen. Then he sighs in exasperation and reassures Toma that he won’t die.

He asks in annoyance if Toma has gotten that into it. Anyway, the phone call soon ends and Orion notes hesitantly that Shin seems angry. Shin explains to them that right now Ikki and Kent are fighting with Waka and Ukyo. Apparently, Ikki went to a convenience store and bought water guns and made a rule so that whoever became half-soaked then they were out. Toma decided to leave them alone since they weren’t causing any harm, but Shin is unhappy by that.

Orion remarks on how this must be an embarrassing problem by how the adults are acting. Then Shin explains that Toma is with Sawa and Mine, who are people who enjoy romantic things, and they’re watching the fireworks. Orion muses on how Toma took the delicious part. LMAO?! Σ(^∀^;) Shin smiles at how even though they couldn’t find the fireflies, it looks like everyone is fully enjoying themselves. This reminds Orion to tell Lin to ask Shin about why everyone is searching so hard for these fireflies. They know that everyone is obsessed about the fireflies, but they don’t know the reason why. Even Shin wanted to show her the fireflies. Orion advises her to be careful when asking though, but Lin just straight out asks him why everyone wants to see the fireflies that badly. Shin frowns and asks why she’s asking that all of a sudden.

Orion winces at how that question seemed to be a landmine. He asks her if she forgot the reason or if she wants to reconfirm it. Then he asks if she doesn’t remember how she can’t attend their work trip. Orion tilts his head in confusion but these words trigger a flashback for Lin. She remembers how beautiful the fireflies were and how next year she wanted to see them with everyone again. She wanted to go on the trip with everyone again next year.

Finally Orion understands that last year, she went on a trip with the staff of the Maid and Butler Cafe and saw the fireflies. When everyone saw how pleased she was, they worked hard to show her the fireflies this year. She didn’t promise just one person, she promised everyone. But she isn’t able to go on the trip this year, because she has to see her father overseas. She’s disappointed but it can’t be helped since she wants to see her father.

Shin explains that at first Waka wanted to postpone the trip but the travel agency that they requested already booked their hotel and so they couldn’t postpone it. And then Sawa became all fired up to show Lin the fireflies no matter what. Everyone was dragged in to the plan of having a trip to see the fireflies. But they weren’t able to see any fireflies on this trip, even though he thought they would be able to this night.

Orion realizes that Shin tried with all his might to find the fireflies as well, because last year she had been so happy to see the fireflies. But then Shin narrows his eyes and asks her why she forgot that. Orion nervously wrings his hands but Shin continues on to point out that she’s been very weird lately. Something must have happened.

His voice softens and becomes pained as he asks 「それ、オレに話せないこと?オレだとおまえの力になれない?そも

そも、信用できない?」(Won’t you talk to me? Can I not be your strength? Or, from the start, you can’t trust me?). Orion winces and Lin reassures him that she believe in him, but she just can’t say it. Shin immediately asks why and then tells her that he can’t understand what she means by believing in him but being unable to talk about it.

Page 7: Amnesia Later Shin

He asks her 「おまえのこと、全部知りたいってオレが思うのは駄目なの?」(Is it wrong for me to think about wanting to know everything about you?). He adds 「・・・丸ごと抱えてやりたいってそう思うのは間違ってんの?」

(.. Is it wrong for me to think about wanting to embrace everything of you?). HOLY BEJEESUS SHIN (*´Д`)ハァハァ. He points out that before she used to discuss everything with him, but lately she hasn’t. In fact, she’s been concealing things from him instead. He asks her why. Shin asks her if she’s found someone else she can trust other than him. Someone she can say anything to. He narrows his eyes and asks her if this is the limit of his position as a childhood friend. His expression turns sad as he murmurs that it must be that. That’s how it would normally be. He grits his teeth and curses lowly before wondering out loud if he should wreck everything. Orion becomes confused at those words.

He asks Lin if she isn’t scared of the atmosphere. Lin confesses that Shin is being scary now. Shin averts his eyes and reassures her that he isn’t going to do anything scary. But he takes back his words as he realizes that she might be scared by her thoughts about him after it. However, he confesses 「・・・けどさ、オレはもう、我慢したくないんだ」(.. But you know, I can’t bear this any longer). Shin tells her 「こうやって、手の届く距離でただ見てんのは嫌なんだよ」(I don’t want to stand by and look at the distance between our hands like this). His fierce expression disappears and he points out that next monday she has a day off from work. He wants to meet her on that day because he has something to say. Three days later, Orion comments on how they arrived early but this is the spot where Shin wanted to meet her. It looks like he hasn’t arrived yet, but since they came ten minutes early it makes sense. Orion wonders what Shin is going to talk about. ARE YOU GUYS REALLY THIS DENSE!? He asks Lin if she has an idea and she nods. Orion confesses that he actually has an idea as well. But he doesn’t know how Lin will respond. But he’ll support her if she chooses Shin. Orion suddenly perks up and points out Shin who is approaching. He looks surprised to see her and comments on how he came early but she came even earlier. Then he apologizes for calling her out like this. He confesses that he thought about how it’d take an instant during that night, but he decided that he wanted some time. He needed to think about the damage that might be caused if it wasn’t possible.

However, he’s decided that he doesn’t want to remain like this. Shin confesses that he isn’t able to watch silently as someone else steals her away. He isn’t able to give up and watch the distance become greater between them. That’s why he’s decided to stop his preference for not wanting to muddy everything and to stop her from continuing on obliviously. He tells her 「リン。

オレは、おまえをー」(Lin, I–). AND THEN IT ENDS. WTF?! OBVIOUSLY HE WAS GOING TO CONFESS BUT I MEAN.. WTF?! IS THIS WHERE THE THIRD AMNESIA GAME IS GOING TO TAKE OFF FROM?! *** AFTER STORY *** It starts with a memory of the last scene where Lin tells Shin that she would be happier if he treated her more kindly. When he asks her for specifics she asks him to hold hands. Shin refuses and tells her that it’s embarrassing, which makes her point out that he’s not being kind. He frowns and asks if that was what she meant by being kind, because he doesn’t understand.

Lin informs him that even if he doesn’t understand, she would like to hold hands. There’s a period of silence before he finally tells her to give him her hand and then the memory ends.

9月12日. Lin answers the phone and Shin greets her by noting that it took her a while to pick up. He asks if she’s still sleeping and when she doesn’t answer he asks her exasperatedly if she’s awake and if she can hear him. She tells him that she’s awake but it feels odd to hear his voice right after she woke from a dream. Shin catches the implication and asks if she had a dream about him.

Page 8: Amnesia Later Shin

She confirms it and tells him that she dreamt about the time they held hands. Shin comments on how she should have had a better dream about him, but Lin reassures him that it was more than nice enough although she feels that it’s a waste to have woken up before she experienced it enough. Shin is amused as he tells her that he phoned her at a good time then. She calls him a bully but he replies that he’s not bullying her because he didn’t target her.

But then he changes the subject and points out that she doesn’t work today, right? He doesn’t have prep school either, so he asks if she wants to come over to his house tonight. If she visits him in the evening they’ll be able to spend some time together. He remembers to tell her that his parents are in the house, so unfortunately he’ll have to do some studying when she arrives. If she doesn’t mind that, he’d like her to come over.

Lin asks if she won’t be a bother and he replies 「別に。おまえがオレにくっついて甘えてくるなら話は別だけど」(Not really. It’s a different story if you cling onto me and ask to be spoiled though). She’s shocked into silence until Shin tells her flatly that he was joking. He tells her to let it go and then asks if she still hasn’t woken up fully. He brushes it aside though and then asks her for her answer. Lin decides that she’ll head over. Shin informs her that he’ll call her again when he’s finished school. Before he hangs up he warns her not to fall asleep again. Lin stares at the phone before flopping back on the bed and thinking about her dream. It hasn’t fully been a month yet, but it fills her with nostalgia. She wonders if it’s because whenever she’s with Shin it feels like the time just flies by. She lies there thinking about how she wants to hurry up and see Shin at night.

That evening she’s helping Shin review. She asks him things about auxiliary verbs and he gives examples of those and irregular conjugations. She tells him that he’s correct and then asks him to define a word. He answers that it means wishes and hopes. He even gives examples of its practical applications. Lin compliments him for getting them all right. He points out flatly that it’s normal since these are foundations.

She asks him if he stayed up late last night again, but Shin reassures her that he’s getting enough sleep. If he didn’t then his efficiency at studying would drop. He points out that it’s already September though and so he has to put in more effort now, not to mention he has less time compared to before. But even so he hasn’t been lacking in sleep, so he’s fine. Lin asks him worriedly if his studying is hard.

He tells her that of course it is. He only has half a year left until the exams. But he thinks that because he’s been preparing himself seriously he should be able to rest a little easier than other people. Lin nods but tells him not to strain himself, since it’d be a problem if he stressed his body. He raises an eyebrow and asks if she’s talking from experience. He remembers this one time where she came down with a fever while preparing for exams.

Page 9: Amnesia Later Shin

And then when he went to see her, because she couldn’t get up from her bed, he ended up reading her reference books to her out loud. Lin recalls that Shin was angry because it wasn’t healthy for her to continue studying over resting. Thanks to his words, she was able to return to school tomorrow after her fever lowered. His words were harsh, but she realizes that he’s always thinking about her and protecting her.

Shin points out that she really wanted to pass, didn’t she? He saw how frantic she was and because of that, he’s working just as hard right now. Then Shin’s mother knocks on the door and asks if she can enter. Shin gives her permission and she comes in asking if they aren’t going to take a break, since they must be tired. Shin shrugs and replies that he’s fine, but his mother points out that while he might be fine Lin might be tired.

He asks in confusion why Lin would be tired. His mother replies that it must be hard to babysit him in studying. Then she informs Lin that she made her favorite sweets and tea. Lin indecisively looks towards Shin and he asks if she’s concerned about him. He smiles as he tells her that it’s fine and she must want to rest from studying. He’ll take a break as well. Lin offers to help with the tea then and Shin’s mother thanks her.

A few hours pass and night arrives. Shin notices the time and remembers that Lin has to work tomorrow and so he ends his studying here. Lin agrees and tells him that she’s going to thank his mother, but Shin tells her not to talk too long before it grows late since she has to go home. He notices that she has a paper bag in her hands and asks what it is. Lin tells him that his mother was gave her pastries.

She said that it was more than they could eat so Lin can accept some without feeling guilty. Shin sighs at how his mother knew that it was more than they could eat yet she still bought such a large box. Lin asks if he dislikes them but Shin replies that he doesn’t dislike them. One is more than enough of him because of the rich taste. Lin thinks that the rice cakes are delicious though.

Shin replies that rice cakes are rice cakes and sweets are sweets. He doesn’t want them to be mixed together. Then he grumbles about how normally he should be getting his favourite dish since he’s taking a break from studying. Why was it her favourite dish? Lin wonders if his mother was just fussing about her. Shin shakes his head and tells her that she simply wanted Lin to be happy. He averts his eyes and tells her that his own mother and Toma are the same.

Everyone spoils her. Lin tells him that next time she’ll buy what Shin likes then and take it to him. He reassures her that it isn’t needed. Abruptly he asks her if Toma contacted her. Lin reveals that she received an email yesterday. The decision was that he wouldn’t be prosecuted. Shin nods and recalls how even though she didn’t accuse Toma the police were insistent on assembling a case.

It looks like they finally gave up. He sighs and admits that he might have been the reason the police were assembling a case. Lin asks if they weren’t investigating for her sake. Shin gives a small smile as he talks about how after that accident her head was full of stuff, though it was because of Toma. It seems like her memories haven’t all returned, but she’s become healthy which makes him glad.

Lin wonders out loud where Toma is currently. Whenever she asks he just replies far away and doesn’t tell her any details. Shin reassures her that Toma wants to take responsibility for his mistakes and she should leave him alone. He’ll show up unexpectedly when he wants to. Lin sighs and mumbles that she’d like him to hurry up and return home though. He narrows his eyes and calls her an idiot for being so softhearted.

She asks if he doesn’t think the same though. Shin is silent before he smiles softly and agrees that he’d like Toma to come back. That’s obvious. Lin recalls that they promised to wait. He grins as he tells her that the first thing Toma will do when he comes back is buy something sweet for her. That way she’ll associate with him. Anyway, the two finally reach her apartment and she thanks him for walking her home.

Shin calmly tells her that it was relaxing. Lin recalls that tomorrow Shin has prep school and so she asks when they’ll be able to next meet. He hums thoughtfully and she tilts her head questioningly. He answers that he was thinking about how she’s become so honest. But he returns to the topic and explains that school is starting and on the days he is free he will be confined in prep school. The time that they can meet is little to none.

He apologizes for making her have to wait. But when he has free time he’ll contact her. Other than that he can only tell her to wait. She nods quietly and Shin gives a small smile before pointing out that she can contact him as well once in a while. She shakes her head and tells him that she’ll be fine and she’ll wait. She understands that he’s busy with his studies. He stares at her with a frown.

And then Shin tells her that if that’s the case can she stop making that face then? She blinks in confusion as he explains that when she makes that expression, it’s very troubling for him. Lin asks him why and Shin averts his eyes with a blush. Suddenly Shin kisses her before murmuring that it’ll make him want to do this.

He confesses 「せっかく堪えてたってのに・・・そんな寂しそうな顔されると、我慢が利かなくなるから困る」

(Just when I was resisting it… if you give me that lonely look, I’ll be bothered to the point where I can’t endure it). She asks him if he was restraining himself and he replies tightly that he was. If he hadn’t then he would have done this much sooner. (〃▽〃)キャー♪ I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS GUY IS YOUR KOUHAI. But then Shin explains that if he kissed her even once then he knew his studying would be put to the side. That’s why he endured it. He tells her that he wants to see her. Right now he can only create time to meet within his bounds but he really wants to see her more. He also points out that if she is willing to wait for him then he can’t say such a selfish thing like wanting to meet her every day.

It seems like she is fine with him doing nothing but studying. Lin answers that she doesn’t want to be a bother. Shin calls her an idiot because they are also making progress when they meet. That’s why whenever she wants to meet him she should say it. He reassures her that if he can’t meet up with her then he’ll say it. But she can’t possibly like being ignored. A soft smile appears as he points out that right now she’s being unreasonable though.

He asks her if she’ll forgive him for doing this since he knows she won’t ask him to enter. Lin quietly notes that he’s been kind lately. Shin averts his eyes with a blush as he grumbles out that someone was pouting about how he wasn’t being nice. Because that happened he thought about a lot of things. He closes his eyes and confesses that the origin of her accident was made by him. It was because he chased after her that all of that happened.

No matter how much he reflects or regrets the truth won’t change. There is no means to change the past. But he can change his circumstances in the present. And so to make sure that she wouldn’t be exposed again to that situation, he decided to change himself. Lin asks if this is why he’s being nice. He grins and admits that he doesn’t know if he’s successful at it though. But he promised to make her happy.

For that sake he has prepared himself. She murmurs his name and he averts his eyes with a blush as he mutters that saying this again makes him feel weird. And so he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Shin changes the subject and recalls that she doesn’t have to go to the hospital anymore. Lin nods and explains that she’s done commuting to the hospital. He grins as he realizes that she has made a complete recovery then. He’s glad.

And so he prepares to go home but then he remembers that he has no prep school the day after tomorrow. But if she’s free then he’d like her to come over to his house again. He’d also like her to contact him before she came over. Lin nods and prepares to say good night, but she’s cut off as he tugs her into a kiss. He wishes her good night against her lips and then walks off. Lin stares at his retreating back in silence.

Shin is even more considerate of her than he was in the past. He’s going out with her while not wanting to push her too much. She wants to respond to that kindness of his. But when she thinks about that she realizes that she can’t get used to sudden kisses.

9月13日. Lin is at work and Sawa is ecstatic at how she has finished her last medical examinations. With this she has genuinely made a complete recovery. Lin thanks her gratefully and then apologizes for making her worry. Sawa grins and tells her not to

humble herself like that. Although it’s true she worried. A lot of things has happened and she was honestly worried that Lin wouldn’t smile anymore. She’s relieved at seeing Lin smile healthily like that. This must also be thanks to Shin. He was the one who supported her while she was uneasy with her injuries. Lin nods shyly but hurriedly points out that she also owes Sawa a lot of gratitude. Sawa giggles and tells her that she’s welcome. Suddenly the phone rings and Sawa points out that it’s Lin’s phone. Lin realizes that she forgot to turn the sound off.

When she checks the number, Sawa can’t resist pointing out that it must be Shin because she has a happy look on her face which appeared instantly. She informs Lin that she still has time before she hits the floor and so she can take the call. Sawa will remain silent so she doesn’t interrupt and so Lin doesn’t have to restrain herself. And so Lin answers the call and Shin asks if she has time, though he’s sure she hasn’t started working yet.

Lin reassures him that she has time and asks him if something is wrong. Shin explains that he did say she could come over tomorrow, but something came up and so she can’t now. He apologizes but even though there is no prep school on that day, there is a special lesson on that day and so he must go tomorrow. He tries to explain some more but then apologizes as the next class is starting so he’ll have to cut the call.

He tells her to work hard since she also has work. Sawa notes that she’s finished her call but then frowns as she notices Lin’s gloomy look. She asks Lin if Shin said something harsh again. Lin shakes her head and answers that the promise they made to meet tomorrow was canceled. Sawa asks if something happened and Lin explains that the prep school is having a special lesson. Sawa realizes that it’s September and so everyone is studying for tests.

No wonder Shin is busy. After school is prep school and so they have to go even on rest days. The times they can meet are decreased. Lin nods and explains that they have met a number of times. But lately the times they do meet up, they haven’t been able to spend it slowly. Sawa nods in realization at why Lin has such a long face. But it’s not like all the fault lies on Shin in this situation.

Sawa tells her with a grin that if Lin can’t meet Shin and becomes lonely with all her free time she can always give her a call. It’ll be fun to hang out with just two girls once in a while. They can also give Mine a call and it’ll be three. Lin nods and thanks her. Anyway, Waka enters and praises them for having changed already. Although it’s still a bit early, he’d like them to come out because the floor is packed and they don’t have enough hands.

They acknowledge the order and Waka apologizes with a smile. Sawa grins and tells Lin that they should work hard too just like Shin who is preparing for examinations. Hours later they finish working and Sawa complains about how tired she is. Even though she said they’d work hard, it was intensely busy. Lin recalls that there were a lot of organization people and so there was a lot of activity.

Waka appears again and thanks the two for working hard. Sawa returns the thanks and then Waka smiles happily at how he heard that Lin made a complete recovery. Lin nods and thanks him while apologizing for causing trouble by making him worry. He reassures her that it’s fine. He’s just glad that she’s healthy. He congratulates her again on making a complete recovery. Lin thanks him and then prepares to leave the cafe.

When she steps out Shin greets her and praises her for working hard. Lin calls out his name happily while Sawa is surprised to see him here. She asks him why he’s here, but he merely comments on how he’s surprised to see her here before he

congratulates her for working hard. Sawa narrows her eyes and informs him that she was beside Lin from the start. But she asks him again why he’s here since she heard that he had prep school today.

Shin answers that his prep school had just ended. He thought that Lin would finish at the same time and so he headed over. Then he asks Lin if she’s returning home now. Lin nods and he averts his eyes as he asks Sawa if she wishes to come along as well since he can walk them both home. Sawa smirks and points out that she isn’t thoughtless enough to intrude on their precious time alone when they’re both so busy.

Lin splutters out Sawa’s name but Shin merely tells her that he’s going to borrow Lin then without reserve. Sawa laughs and tells him to go straight ahead. She tells Lin that she’ll see her at work next time. Lin thanks her and congratulates her for working hard. After Sawa disappears Shin asks Lin if she said anything weird to Sawa. He found her smirking face a little strange. Lin stutters out that it was nothing.

Shin drops the subject since he’s fine if she doesn’t want to talk about it. Anyway, they start walking home and Lin admits that she’s happy he came to her but she’s worried about his studies. Shin reassures her it was fine and while he was waiting for her to come out he looked at his reference books, so time wasn’t wasted. Lin points out that he still waited for her though and she apologizes because she should have changed quicker.

He tells her that he only waited for 10 minutes. It isn’t anything important. Then he frowns as he recalls that he cut the phone call midway during lunch. That’s why he also wanted to come in case she took offense. OMG.. SHIN BABY. Lin reassures him that she wouldn’t get angry at that. He smiles as he tells her that was a joke. He knows that she wouldn’t be angry over that kind of thing. But he did come to apologize for breaking their promise. Shin looks at her seriously and apologizes for tomorrow. He’ll try to make time for them to meet though. Lin admits that she’s happy at that but she doesn’t want him to overexert himself. The prep school for school is important after all. He averts his eyes and agrees that the mock exams are approaching so the chances of meeting her are decreasing even more. Lin nods quietly and Shin sighs before reminding her not to make that expression.

She blinks in surprise since she wasn’t aware she was making that look. He closes his eyes as he confirms that she’s making it and it’s a problem how unconscious she is of herself. He falls silent for a second before apologize sincerely for making her feel lonely. She just has to endure a bit more. The next time they have time together, he’ll take her out to where she wants to go. Lin asks if that’s fine.

He grins as he tells her that it’s stifling to just study. He needs a breather once in a while. But they can’t go anywhere far away and it’ll be difficult to do something for an entire day. But if she’s fine with that then he wants her to tell him a place she’d like to go. He’ll think about it. She decides that she wants to go to a park. Shin looks confused but he agrees to go. It’s just that he doesn’t think there’s anything interesting to do there.

What does she plan to do? Lin points out that it’s fine if there isn’t anything to do. Just walking together peacefully and sitting on a bench is fine with her. He narrows his eyes and asks flatly if that’s fun. Lin tells him that she has fun with that. He asks her lightly if she read something for 50 year olds to do. Her thoguhts are like an elderly couple. She realizes hesitantly that he’s right.

But Shin shrugs and agrees to go anyway. But they can only go to the park in the afternoon or else it’ll be too cold. So they have to go before evening. Lin suggests that they head to town then since there are various shops they can take a look at leisurely. Shin asks her flatly why all her dates involve doing things leisurely. Plus the places that she wants to go to, the city and the park, all have lots of people.

He averts his eyes and confesses that 「勉強しないなら、オレは・・・おまえと2人きりでのんびりしたいんだけど」

(If I’m not studying, I… want to spend time alone with you). He sighs softly and realizes out loud that they can’t though, since it seems like she chose those places because she doesn’t want to be alone with him. Lin tries to deny that but he cuts her off and tells her that it’s fine. Since her vigilant actions are showing that she’s self-aware. Lin tells him that she really doesn’t mind. Shin points out that even if she doesn’t dislike it, she doesn’t seem to want it on her own free will though. She opens her mouth only to close it in silence. He stares back at her silently before sighing and wondering why they’re disagreeing at this time. Just when he decided to meet with her too. Lin tells him that his feelings make her happy but she also doesn’t want him going out of his way to meet.

He tells her that if he does as he likes then it’ll be like that time once again and that’s a problem. GURL.. YOUR WORDS ARE STABBING HIM. She tries to protest and tell him that it won’t happen. Shin asks her if she’s trying to say that she won’t run away when he pursues her, but he knows that she’s mistaken. Lin is silent and he confesses that he doesn’t want to feel that way or make her feel that way again. Lin is silent before she admits in her mind that if he chased after her forcibly like he did when they first started dating then she’ll be confused again. But she really doesn’t mind if it’s just the two of them. She doesn’t mind but she is troubled by what Shin might do when they’re alone. But she still wants to be together with him. It’s a contradiction. YOU’RE RIDICULOUS TEENAGE DRAMA IS MAKING ME ANGRY (屮゚Д゚)屮. I WANT TO BE TOGETHER. NO I DON’T. BUT I DO. BUT I DON’T. FUCKING JUST GO! The two of them finally reach her house and she thanks him for walking her back. He nods with a grunt and she eyes him silently. After their conversation Shin fell completely silent. Maybe he’s angry? Suddenly he says her name and asks her that even if she’s reserved about being alone with him, she still wants to be together with him, right? Lin confirms that. Shin informs her that he has a proposition then. He proposes that they listen to each other’s wishes and give each other a turn when they meet up. They can say whatever they want and decide where they want to go, what they want to do, and stuff like that. He thinks that it’s better for them to be able to compromise with each other over the both of them holding themselves back and turning the atmosphere bad like what happened a while ago.

Lin asks if that was why he was silent. He blinks in confusion and asks her what she’s talking about. She tells him that she thought he was angry since he was silent up until now, but he was actually just thinking? Shin blushes and apologizes curtly but he was becoming desperate. OMGAGJKLAHG PRECIOUS BABY. He confesses that he wants to treasure her and he thinks that even now. But in the end it’s painful for him to not be able to touch her unreservedly.

She asks him hesitantly what he means by wishes and hopes. He tells her it is just as he said. Stuff like wherever they want to go and whatever they want to do. She’s silent as she considers it but she agrees that it’s better than this awkwardness of them both restraining themselves. But she can’t bring herself to nod to accept it because of what might be said. What if Shin decides to say that he wants to kiss her until he’s done.

THEN YOU ACCEPT IT HAPPILY. DUH. Shin notices her look and tells her not to be so cautious. He tells her that if she really doesn’t want to do it then she can veto it and he’ll stop. He knows that she has her own pace. Anyway, he asks for her answer to this. She asks him if he’ll listen properly to her wishes and Shin tells her exasperatedly that he will. But he doesn’t want her to be too strict.

She asks him what he means by that and he averts his eyes as he mumbles out that he means embarrassing things. Lin points out that she doesn’t find holding hands to be embarrassing at all. Shin sighs as he admits that he thought that would be the first thing that would come out. He prepared himself for it too. But then he smirks as he decides that this is how they’ll do it for now. He wishes her good night and then leaves.

Lin realizes that Shin is thinking about her after all. She knows she should be happy and she does think about wanting to grant Shin’s wishes. But just what exactly will he wish for. She ends up admitting to herself that she’s a little uneasy.

9月15日. At work Sawa, Mine, and Lin are chatting and Sawa tries to wrap her head around the fact that from now on their dates will be exchanges of wishes. She sighs at how charming Shin can actually be. Mine admits that it is charming but it also feels a bit unfair. In truth she can sympathize with Shin and then she asks if Sawa doesn’t feel the same. Sawa admits reluctantly that she can and that Lin is a bit wrong. Lin lowers her head at that and Sawa hurriedly reassures her that she’s not trying to blame either of them. Mine points out that anyone would be hurt if their significant other said that they didn’t want to be alone with them, though. Sawa admits with a wince that she wouldn’t be able to recover from that. Mine agrees and then cheerfully points out that it’s a good thing Sawa doesn’t have a boyfriend.

Sawa freezes before mumbling that she can’t recover from those words of Mine. But then she gets back on topic and admits that after hearing a lot of things she can also understand Lin’s feelings. Mine asks for clarification. Sawa explains that Lin used to complain a lot, when she and Shin were first dating, about how he’d attack her at every opportunity.

Page 16: Amnesia Later Shin

Mine murmurs 「隙あれば襲われるって・・・。猛獣か何かですか」(Attacking at every opportunity… Is he some kind of wild animal or something?). (*ノ∀`)アハハ八八ノヽノ I CAN’T. But then Sawa points out that even though Lin said that the whole time she was still together with Shin. So why is she suddenly not wanting to be together with him at this point? Lin reluctantly notes that she can’t not say it, right? Mine tells her sternly that she’s not allowed to not say it. Now that they’ve come this far she has to hear everything! Sawa laughs and tells Mine not to press Lin for an answer. It’ll be a problem if Lin isn’t able to say what she wants. But then she eagerly asks Lin what the reason is and what’s different from those times. Mine frowns and points out that Sawa is pressing Lin more than enough.

Lin finally explains that it’s not that she dislikes being alone with Shin, but it’s just that when they are alone he immediately kisses her. Mine blink in confusion and points out that it’s a good thing. What’s the problem with that? Lin explains that it’s so sudden that she’s surprised and then put on guard. Mine asks if that means Lin just hates kissing. Lin winces and once again asks if she has to say it.

Sawa shakes her head and tells her that now that she’s talked about it she has a duty. Mine asks what is so dislikeable about a kiss. Lin admits that she doesn’t dislike it but she’s scared of being played with and she ends up being unable to breathe. Her heart already pounds even when she’s just talking and so with that kind of kiss she feels like her heart will stop. Sawa is silent before she asks Mine slowly if this counts as bragging about a lover.

Mine agrees slowly. No matter how one listens to this. Lin blurts out that she’s seriously troubled here! Mine smiles and tells her that there is nothing to be troubled about. She should just let herself be swept away and flow naturally with it. Lin confesses that it’s scary though. She’s afraid that if she follows the flow then she’ll end up doing things she doesn’t know and without her willl. That’s scary.

Sawa sums it up to say that, in other words, Lin is a late bloomer and this is the biggest problem. But she points out that Shin agreed to stop at her boundaries. Shin, who did those things with no reservations, came up with this compromise plan. Lin explains that she knows that. But just like she’s still scared Shin has his own pace that he wishes for. Sawa grins and points out that if she knows that then the rest is clear.

Anyway, Sawa’s advice is to put effort in compromising with Shin and listen to his wishes at least. Mine explains how she’s not trying to be Shin’s ally, but she can’t help but sympathize with how he’s always rejected. Lin nods her head glumly. And then her phone rings and Mine points it out. Lin checks the phone and Mine smirks as she asks if it’s Shin. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

Lin answers the phone and Shin greets her before congratulating her on her work. He explains that prep school has finished and he was thinking about heading over to her. He asks if she can return home now. Lin stutters at that and suddenly Mine appears to whisper that this is her chance to meet him halfway! Lin stutters some more and Shin notes that her words seem to be off and he asks if she’s working overtime. Did she make a mistake?

He tells her that he can return home first since she dislikes making him wait. Then he asks if she’s fine with walking home alone. Lin blurts out that it’s fine because she can head home with Sawa and the others. Shin makes a curt noise of acknowledgement and admits that he’s relieved then. He tells her to be careful when heading home and to call him if anything happens before cutting the call.

Sawa and Mine are completely silent and Lin wilts under their combined unimpressed looks. WAIT! LET ME ADD MY OWN ಠ_ಠ. Mine suddenly confesses that she kind of wants to be Shin’s ally now. Sawa admits that she does too. Lin

apologizes weakly and Mine tells her that if she thinks what she did was wrong then she should put into practice what they talked about!

Mine explains that as a student preparing for exams they have to release themselves occasionally, since they’re continuously controlling themselves. Her voice turns sly as she talks about how the backlash of all that stored up frustration will be amazing. Sawa squeals at how that’ll make an even more amazing kiss.LMFAO. Lin flatly asks if the two of them aren’t enjoying themselves. Sawa is grinning as she denies it. They’re not having fun in the slightest! Mine cheerfully replies that they’re cheering for Lin’s happiness. Lin’s voice is flat as she points out that their expressions are extremely amused. Anyway, Lin returns home and feels surprisingly exhausted. She decides to run a bath immediately. 30 minutes later she notices that she has a mail from Shin. The subject of the mail asks if she’s returned home.

And then Shin asks her what kind of mistake she made. He hopes it wasn’t anything to trouble the shop or the guests. He also scolds her and tells her not to hurt herself in her spacing out when she’s finally been cured. Then he asks if it’s fine to go to her house after his class ends tomorrow. It’s not possible to spend a long time together, but he thinks it’s better than being unable to see her until Saturday.

He wants her to tell him if she has any plans tomorrow. Lin wants to meet Shin but the thought of meeting in her room is a bit… She wonders how she should reply. She decides to reply that she also wants to meet him. She’s a bit uneasy but in the end she really wants to see him. Suddenly her phone rings and she’s startled at how it’s Shin. She answers the phone and Shin greets her before asking where she is.

Lin replies that she’s at home already and he’s surprised. Her reply wasn’t coming and so he thought she hadn’t made it home yet. She apologizes and explains that she was in the bath. She only replied to the mail just now. Shin is surprised and then realizes that he must have phoned her at the same time she sent her mail. He doesn’t know if that’s some good or bad timing, but shrugs it off since he was able to hear her voice.

Shin decides that since he’s already called her he might as well ask if she has plans tomorrow. Lin tells him that she doesn’t and she wrote that in her mail too. Right now she has nothing. Shin nods and then confirms once again if it’s fine for him to go over

tomorrow. Although he thinks that it’ll be boring for her to meet him as he’s studying. He asks her if that’s fine and Lin makes a noise as she realizes that he meant to study.

His voice becomes exasperated as he asks her what that noise meant. She stutters out that it’s nothing and then tells him that she’ll be waiting tomorrow. Shin is silent before he sighs loudly which causes her to ask him if something is wrong. He confesses that he’s a bit nervous because of their proposal. It didn’t seem like she was eager for it which made him think that he was going to get refused. He’s relieved now.

Anyway, he’ll be heading over tomorrow and he wishes her good night. She wishes him good night before ending the call. Then she realizes that it’s a good thing she didn’t refuse him since she could hear how nervous he was in his voice. She’s still uneasy about what he might say and so she has to be ready to react to it. GIRL THIS ISN’T A BATTLE. 9月16日. Lin is silent as she thinks about how Shin will soon come since his school must have ended. Suddenly the doorbell rings and she rushes to get it since it must be him. Shin apologizes for being late but his homeroom took a while. Then he asks if he can enter and requests some refreshment since his throat is parched. After a few minutes she presents some tea for him and asks if it’s alright. He thanks her and reassures her that soda is impossible right now. She asks if he went home first since she thought he’d come to her house directly from school. Shin replies that his baggage would get in the way and his house was along the way. But then Lin asks him where his reference book for studying is since she thought he came to study. Shin tells her lightly that he lied. Lin gapes at him.

Shin averts his eyes and points out that if he didn’t say that then she would definitely refuse him. She continues to gape at him and he asks her hesitantly if she’s angry. She admits that she is a little. Shin is silent before he tells her seriously that his first wish for today is for her to accept his apology and repair her mood. She blurts out that he’s being unfair and Shin averts his eyes as he tells her that he didn’t use his wish wrong.

Plus, he thinks he’s actually being nice considering those wishes are on the same level as desires. Lin asks him what he would do if she used her wish to refuse his apology. He shrugs and tells her that it’s fine but it’ll use up one of her wishes. But then he asks her if she really wants to use it here since they can only use one wish per day. She asks in shock if that’s true and he nods before imposing a limit of one use per day.

She yelps out that she didn’t hear that! Shin admits that such a thing is a given. She stares at him in silence and he informs her that it was a joke and she should calm down. Then he closes his eyes as he accepts that he was wrong to deceive her like this. He defends himself by saying that he thought she would refuse to meet him alone if he didn’t do that. And he really wanted to meet her.

Lin flinches before grumbling about how he really is sneaky. He asks her if she meant the whole improving her mood thing. Lin sighs before telling him that she won’t forgive him next time. He smiles and nods, but then he adds that in addition to her forgiving him he’d be saved if she didn’t use her next wish to refuse him. She looks confused and then asks if he wants to eat something.

WHAT?! LMFAO I DON’T KNOW IF MY TRANSLATION FAILED HERE OR THIS IS JUST A REALLY BAD NON SEQUITUR. Shin points out that their wishes wouldn’t fit in such a thing. Then he tells her softly 「オレがおまえに何したい

かなんて、おまえが一番よくわかってるんじゃないの」(You know best what I want to do to you). If she didn’t then he wouldn’t needed to have lied about studying. Lin rears back and hurriedly asks him if he would like another cup of tea.

Shin sighs in exasperation and asks if she’s just going to change the topic like that. He calls her an idiot and then he gives her an intense look as he tells her that he doesn’t want another cup. He wants her to come over and sit down. At least that’s what he wants to say, but even he knows she won’t come over obediently. So he says 「いいよ。おまえが来ないなら、オレからそ

っち行く」(That’s fine. If you won’t come over then I’ll just go over). WHAT A BOSS SHIN! She blurts out at him to wait when he approaches her, but he just smiles softly 「怖がんなくていいよ

。キスだけ。それ以上は何もしない。約束する」(You don’t have to be afraid. It’s only a kiss. I won’t do anything more. I promise). Lin begs him to wait a second though. He frowns slowly and asks her if she’s refusing him then. She shakes her head hesitantly and so then Shin tells her lowly 「だったら待たない。つーか・・・待てない」(In that case I won’t wait. Or more like… I can’t wait).

His voice becomes a whisper 「嫌なら嫌って言っていいよ。でも言わないなら、やめてやらない」(If you don’t want it then say so. But if you don’t say it, then I won’t stop). Lin stiffens and in her mind she thinks about how she wants to run away immediately. Her heart is going to break! But if she runs away from here then, like Sawa and Mine said, Shin will think it’s unfair. When she thinks that, she can’t bring herself to keep her eyes open! Shin falls silent before he sighs heavily. Then he tells her quietly to open her eyes because he’s released her. Lin opens her eyes in confusion only to see him a few feet away. She hesitantly says his name and he averts his eyes as he asks her if she actually likes him. WHAT THE FUCK?! BITCH? WHAT? JESUS I WAS KIND OF LIKE “MAKES SENSE THAT YOU’RE SCARED OF YOUR OVERWHELMING FEELINGS I CAN EMPATHIZE I GUESS” BUT THIS?? ( -д-). Her mouth drops open in confusion but Shin tells her seriously to answer it while promising not to be angry. Lin replies that of course she likes him. She doesn’t know why he’s asking this. He glares off to the side as he explains that he wants to hear about why she hates his kisses whenever they happen. Lin hurriedly tells him that he’s wrong and she doesn’t dislike his kisses. He cuts her off though and asks if she can really say that.

He lists off how she tries to run away, forcibly change the subject, or closes her eyes as if she’s enduring it. OMGADKGH FLIPPIN FRUITCAKES GIRL. WHAT THE //SCREAMS. LIKE EXPERIENCE OR FREAK OUT ABOUT YOUR HEART PALPITATIONS AFTER THE KISS HAPPENS. DON’T CRINGE OR SHRIVEL UP BEFORE IT.. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!? He can’t help but feel lost after being refused here when he’s already explained about how he’s reflected on his actions. Shin narrows his eyes in frustration and blurts out that he thought he was making her self-conscious and so he decided that it wasn’t time to do it on purpose yet. But this time is different. And then he wonders if she hasn’t had enough time. He thought that she was past the stage where she was reluctant to date him, so she must see him still as a childhood friend only. Lin denies it and tells him that she can’t see him as just a childhood friend anymore.

He glares and asks her in a pained voice why he can’t kiss her then. Shin informs her that he thought it couldn’t be helped if she refused any invitations to enter their room or stay over. But if she reacts that way to just a kiss then his self-confidence is gone. Even her wishes for a date are the same as what she wanted to do in the past. It’s like nothing has changed.

Shin asks her roughly where the difference is in going shopping or to the park with a childhood friend. He asks her if the meaning of her love when she says it is different from what he means when he says it. Lin shouts back that he’s wrong. He yells back at her to explain it then. She’s taken aback, but he presses forth 「オレと同じ意味で好きだって言うなら、キスして

って。・・・言えるのかよ!」(If you say you mean the same thing I mean when you love me, then let’s kiss.. Can you say that!?) She flinches but then manages to weakly tell him to kiss her. Shin gives her a pained look and tells her quietly to look at her face in a mirror, because she looks like she’s pushing herself. He murmurs out that if she says it with that face then he can’t accept it and he isn’t happy. He’s silent for a bit before he sighs heavily and apologizes, but he’s going to go home now. If he remains here any longer then he’ll just trouble her with unreasonable wishes.

WHAT. NO SHIN THEY AREN’T UNREASONABLE! THIS GIRL IS JUST HAVING ISSUES COME BAAAAACK (|||❛︵❛.)! He tells her that he’s going to return home and cool his head down. It’s the right thing to do for her sake. His voice is strained as he gives her a short goodbye and then he leaves. Lin stares at the door in silence. She wants to be together with Shin. There’s no mistake in that. But is that just in the sense of a childhood friend? She shakes her head because that’s impossible. She loves Shin. She sees him properly as a man. She’s already been aware of him as a man ever since that day. And that’s why, when her nervousness is conveyed to Shin, they start to pass each other. She doesn’t want the air between them to be strained and so she’ll go to apologize tomorrow. She make sure to properly convey that.

9月25日. The alarm goes off and Lin mumbles about how she has to get up or she’ll be late for her part-time job. But then she remembers that she doesn’t have work today, it’s just that she set her alarm like usual. Today the entire Maid and Butler Cafe is on a holiday. They’ve temporarily closed because there is some trouble in the kitchen machinery. It can’t be helped that she’s worried. Even though she finally has a day off, Shin has prep school during this holiday. Even if he didn’t though, meeting now would be a little difficult. She thinks back to what happened a week before. Because they left while fighting, she went the next day to see him at his house and he looked extremely surprised. But that might be because an apology was the first thing she said when she opened her mouth.

Shin smiled at her softly and commented on how she really hasn’t changed at all. Even though he said one-sidedly harsh things, was discouraged to be near her, and was so much like how he was in the past that he’s dispirited. Shin tells her that she doesn’t have to apologize for yesterday. He was the one at fault. Even though he’s trying to change for her sake, he still said such self-important things. It’s like he hasn’t changed at all.

He thinks that he’s been spoiled and relieved too much at how she was by his side even when she lost her memories and the accident happened. He forgot how amazing it was that she’s still by his side right now. That’s what he reflected on from yesterday. He promises that this is why, this time, he will stop doing things against her will. He won’t kiss her anymore. OGMAGKLS OMG PRECIOUS BABYY (ノ;Д;)ノ. STOP HIM HEROINE STOP HIM!! JUST BE LIKE “NO YOU’VE GOT IT ALL WRONG. MY HEART DOKI DOKIS TOO MUCH AROUND YOU. TAKE ME NOW IN YOUR ROOM”. He tells her that until her feelings catch up he will return and wait as a childhood friend. Not that this means he wants to break up but that he’ll return to going out with her like that. Lin asks him quietly if he’s content with that. He smiles softly and tells her that it’s fine. If that is what she wishes then he wants to do that.

YOU AFUFUCKING GAJGGHSFHS NOOOOOO. NO. NO щ(゚Д゚щ). (屮゚Д゚)屮. ヽ(`Д´)ノ. Back in the present Lin thinks about how what she desires is to be able to be together without forcing each other. With this there isn’t any pain from being suddenly pursued and so she should feel good to be relieved but… her heart is darkened. It’s as if she made a huge ditch between Shin and her. She thinks it’s a little lonely. WELL FUCKING DUH. And the one who brought that down was herself. She did it selfishly. Lin tells herself that it can’t be helped and to get a grip. She decides to go shopping and her mood will also change. She stays out until the evening and then she returns home in silence. In the end she returned without buying anything. But she didn’t have the feeling to buy anything and the battery on her cellphone also died.

It might have been right to finish up her shopping earlier. When she reaches her door, Shin greets her with a small smile. She blurts out his name in surprise and confusion. He averts his eyes and asks her where she went since he phoned her many times. Lin apologizes but explains that her battery died in the middle. He sighs and calls her stupid as usual and tells her to check the remaining quantity next time since he worried.

But it looks like she’s safe. He’s glad they didn’t pass each other either since he was just about to return home. Then he asks her if she’s free later today, or more like it’ll be a problem if she isn’t free. She replies slowly that she has no plans. He tells her to come with him then for a bit. When she asks him where, he explains that they’re going to the Maid and Butler Cafe.

Although he knows it might feel like a loss to go to the work place when she has no work today. Lin asks him to wait a second and points out that she thought the cafe wasn’t opened today. He tells her that he knows, but if she comes with him then she’ll understand. Anyway, he came to make arrangements. She goes into and exits out of her house quickly which Shin comments on before he realizes she just had to drop off her baggage.

Anyway, he suggests for them to go since he came here to get her and it’s probably loud over there. They need to hurry. As they’re walking Shin thinks out loud about how it looks like they’ll meet the time arranged. There won’t be any complaints. Lin asks him curiously about if he has prep school today and he tells her curtly that he does. Or more like he was in class a few minutes ago but the rest he’s skipping.

He realizes that this is why she was surprised since he had prep school but yet he was there. Lin admits that it was part of the reason, but they also haven’t seen each other in a while and so she was doubly surprised. Shin is confused as he points out that

they’ve met. Lin points out that the last time they met was a week ago. Shin asks her if she can call that a long time. WOW SO COLD. I FEEL THE ICE. Lin slowly tells him that before, during times when he wasn’t able to see her for a week, he confessed that he’d become chaotic. Shin averts his eyes and admits that he said it but the situation was different. During that time they met each other daily. But now that she says it, he realizes that they haven’t met at all this week. She, unusually, hasn’t contacted him at all either. FUCKING HELL DOES HE HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING YOU DUMB BITCH?! Shin realizes that he hasn’t contacted her much either. He apologizes but this week he’s been busy. She shakes her head and tells him not to worry about it. GIRL ACT A LITTLE MORE TROUBLED FFS. He coolly replies that it’s fine in that case. He also adds that since they haven’t met for a while he forgot, but her wish is the next in turn. He wants to hear what her wish is even though the time between reaching the cafe is short. Lin is silent before she replies that she wants to hold hands. He frowns and comments on how she really seems to like that. She asks him quietly if they can’t, but he tells her that it’s fine since he promised. He orders her to give him her hand and she asks him if he won’t say that it’s embarrassing anymore. He admits that it’s still embarrassing but since she wants to do it then he’ll endure it.

She is silent and thinks about how for some reason she isn’t happy at all. Even though they’re holding hands and it’s warm, she feels lonely. She wonders if this is what Shin feels whenever she refuses a kiss. NO SHIT SHERLOCK. When they reach the store, Sawa greets them happily which confuses Lin. But then Sawa scolds Shin for being slow because they finished all the preparations already. Shin flatly answers that Lin wasn’t at home. Plus, he’s sure that they met within the arranged time. Sawa replies that they barely did, but because he brought Lin along she’ll forgive him. But then she realizes that they shouldn’t stand around talking and urges them to head in. Lin says their name in confusion. As they enter Sawa cheerfully yells out that the protagonist has arrived! Mine greets her with a smile and tells her that she’s late. Kent greets them by commenting on how it’s been a while.

Lin murmurs their names in confusion. Ikki smirks and tells her to come over to his side. When she looks around in confusion, he reassures her that he won’t grab and eat her. Kent flatly tells Ikki that they can’t hear a joke in his words. Shin greets the two of them politely and apologizes for making them come out of their way. He smiles slowly as he replies that it’s far from it, because he’ll always come to a friend’s good news.

All the more if it’s a cute girl. LMFAGJLAKDHG I MISSED HIM SO MUCH. Kent reminds Shin that he was the one who sent out contacts to them to ask them to come and encourage the heroine. Shin murmurs that he doesn’t remember planning that kind of meeting. Kent smirks and tells him that he was seized with Shin’s invitation, unless his explanation is wrong. Shin rolls his eyes and admits that he’s glad. He wasn’t hoping for much since he heard that Kent was busy. He wanted to thank them for all the help the two gave though. And so he thanks them for that occasion right now. Rika appears and asks if she doesn’t receive any thanks. She would also liked to be thanked for making time in her busy schedule. Ikki is surprised that Shin invited Rika as well and compliments him for his bravery.

Shin answers that he did tentatively. Rika was a help to Lin whenever Shin wasn’t around. Speaking of Lin, she asks Shin what this is. He answers that she should be able to know just from seeing it and then orders her to stand in the middle. Waka calls out from the back that everything is ready and asks if they are. Shin turns around to call out that they’re ready. Sawa starts the countdown and then everyone congratulates Lin on her complete recovery.

Waka appears to present to them a special made cake from the Maid and Butler Cafe. Mine is amazed at how large it is and compliments Waka for working hard. He replies with a smile that it’s for his cute worker and tonight he reserved this cake for

them. He wants everyone to enjoy it to their heart’s content. Sawa apologizes to Lin and asks if she was surprised, but Sawa thought it’d be more interesting for it to be a surprise.

This makes Waka apologize for lying about the cafe being on a holiday. But he wanted this party to be a surprise and it’d make him happy if she could understand that. Sawa winces as she realizes that Lin doesn’t quite look like she grasps the situation though. Shin explains that when Waka and Sawa heard that Lin’s medical examinations were over they started to plan a party to celebrate her complete recovery.

Then he figured that since it became like this he might as well contact all the people who helped. The owner of the mountain villa is, unfortunately, staying somewhere else. He didn’t have Ukyo’s contact and so wasn’t able to invite him. But still, all the people gathered here for her. It’s something to be thankful for. Lin is shocked and thanks everyone deeply. Mine frowns though and murmurs that it’s a shame Toma couldn’t come.

Sawa also frowns at how he couldn’t at least return today. Ikki points out that it can’t be helped. Toma has his own things to take into consideration. Kent agrees and explains that, ignoring the fact that it was an accident, it would be painful showing up here when he’s the one who caused the injury to his precious childhood friend. Mine pouts since no one here blames him. Sawa points out that the result is that Toma saved Lin.

He shouldn’t worry about weird things. Mine slyly speaks out about how there’s only one person here who would lash out. Rika notices Mine’s look and asks her if there’s something on her face. Mine quickly shakes her head and tells Rika that she was just thinking about how terribly beautiful Rika is. Sawa scolds Mine and tells her not to lash out at others herself. Ikki gives Lin a soft look and apologizes to her before telling her to ignore them.

Lin thanks him but reassures him that she’s fine. The injury following immediately after her accident. It was an accident caused by Toma who aided her when she fell off the cliff. It seems like that was the explanation Shin gave everyone here. They had immediately settled the things between the three of them. That’s why there is no need to blame Toma any more.

The thought of wanting Toma, who isn’t in this town currently, to one day come back to this place is a small lie. Waka quietly notes that this sort of thing is apparently something the rest of them are worrying about more than Lin herself is worrying about. So they should just leave it for now. Ikki agrees and suggests that everyone can gather together again when Toma returns. Mine agrees as they’ll be able to meet Ikki and the rest again.

Rika snaps out that Mine is being a bit rude and she can’t let that comment pass. Who gave her permission to take Ikki. Kent apologizes for interrupting their argument but first someone should lead a toast. Without it then they can’t continue with the party. With this the mood is restored. Shin agrees and requests Waka to lead it. Waka is surprised and asks if he’s suited for it.

Shin smiles and tells him that of course he is, because Waka is the one who supplied them the place and food. Waka smiles at that and then calls everyone to lift up their glass. He leads them to toast the celebration of Lin’s complete recovery, Shin who supported her, and their future prospects. As everyone clinks their glass together, Shin murmurs to Lin that it feels like an afterparty of a wedding.

But then he looks at her closely and asks her if she’s following along since she looks even more spaced out than usual. Lin nods cheerfully and tells him that she was a little surprised but now she’s really happy! He smiles softly at her before telling her that he’s going to leave her alone for a bit. He warns her not to drink the sake around them though. When she asks him where he’s going, he replies that he’s going to help Waka.

There doesn’t seem to be enough hands. Plus, if he’s not beside her then she should be able to talk easier. Since all of these people helped her he thinks she should greet them one by one. The moment he leaves Sawa sighs at how he’s so predictable. But she cheers up as she tells Lin that today is a day to forget the normal things and to have fun and be noisy. Lin nods and thanks Sawa for preparing all this because she’s really happy.

She also thanks Sawa when they were lodging together. She really feels like she should thank Sawa. Sawa laughingly tells her that it’s fine and if Lin keeps thanking her like that then she’ll be embarrassed. It’s natural for friends to worry and want to help each other. Sawa is happy as long as Lin is healthy. Lin murmurs her name and then Mine pops in to giggle at how Sawa is like a handsome man.

Sawa winces at those words and asks hesitantly if this is the reason as to why she can’t get a boyfriend. Mine admits that she has a point because Sawa is strong-willed. Sawa cries out that she’s not happy at that. Lin tells Sawa that she really likes Sawa like that though. Sawa replies lightly that if Lin says that then she might be fine with it. Mine slowly comments on how somehow it feels like Lin is more lovey-dovey with Sawa than Shin.

Kent interrupts and Sawa asks him if something is wrong. He apologizes and explains that he wishes to speak to Lin. It won’t take much time. Lin is surprised but Sawa reassures him that it’s fine and so she and Mine disperse. Kent apologizes again for intruding in the middle of a conversation, but if he didn’t say it then he’d lose his timing. Lin doesn’t mind but she’s curious about what he wants to talk about.

He informs her that it isn’t anything important, but he’d like to apologize to her. He accidentally stirred them up out of his curiosity and in his objective to find out about the settled facts, he must have caused her unhappiness since she was involved. Lin tells him to stop that because he and the rest have been a great help. He shouldn’t apologize to her and instead she should be thanking him.

Kent smiles softly and admits that he’s relieved by her words. He gives her the advice that though the resolution may be painful, he’d like her to work hard and not be discouraged. Ikki suddenly interrupts and comments on how that sounds like advice from a graduation teacher. Then he chides Kent by pointing out that he’s forestalling the party. Kent frowns and asks him how he’s doing that by just having a conversation.

Ikki explains that he’s monopolizing Lin. Kent replies that this party was designed to cheer up Lin and so he’s giving her encouragement. Then he curtly tells Ikki not to misunderstand. Ikki hums in suspicion and then tells him that it’s fine if he’s doing that then, but Kent didn’t have to go out of his way to encourage her when one can see that Lin has regained her feet. Kent sighs and warns Ikki not to flame someone.

(*ノ∀`)アハハ八八 I JUST LOVE HIS RAMPANT FLIRTING. Ikki chuckles before telling them that he was joking, but he was a little jealous and so he wanted to pick at them a little. Kent sighs before telling Ikki not to drink too much. Ikki instantly replies that he’s fine because he hasn’t drank the sake yet. Kent nods at that and then decides to excuse himself with a smile. Before he can leave though Ikki tells Kent to talk to Rika. Kent closes his eyes and notes that Ikki must have ran away here because he didn’t want to talk to Rika. Ikki grins and replies that he has a right to silence. As Kent leaves Lin giggles at their interaction and comments on how the two of them are close. Ikki shrugs noncommittally at that and admits that he won’t deny it. Then he congratulates her again on her full recovery before looking her over and noting that there are no more bruises on her.

She nods before thanking him personally again for helping out at that time. He waves off her thanks with a smile, but then he smirks as he asks that if she does want to thank him then would she lower her regrettable defenses and give him the right to a kiss right now? Lin gapes at him and Ikki points out that her boyfriend, Shin, isn’t here beside her right now. His voice lowers as he asks her if she won’t.

Lin blurts out that he can’t. It’s obviously not allowed! Ikki laughs brightly and reassures her that he knows. Plus, even if she was fine with it Shin would definitely not allowed it. But then he becomes serious and asks her how it is with Shin and is it well? Although he doesn’t know if asking her this is unrefined. Lin repeats his words quietly and then thinks about how Ikki appears to be skilled in relationships.

Page 26: Amnesia Later Shin

If she consulted him then he might give her good advice. But it’s embarrassing and she doesn’t know if she can explain it well. Lin takes the plunge though and tells Ikki that she has something she wants to consult with him. She asks him if he has the time and his smile softens as he tells her that of course he does. So long as she’s fine with him then he’ll help her anytime. And so she explains the whole situation.

Ikki has his eyes closed as he muses on the problem. Essentially, when they’re together Lin is overflowing with feelings in contrast to Shin whose intense expressions of love isn’t enough for him. But this troubles her. She nods and Ikki smiles at how it sounds like the troubles of teenagers in puberty. It makes him envious. He points out that the current line and situation is ideal then isn’t it? They’re together without doing anything.

Lin hesitates and he realizes that she’s uneasy. Ikki notes how she’s afraid that at this rate they’ll return to being childhood friends. She nods and then admits that she knows her enemy is herself. This is the result of her own attitude. Ikki accurately guesses that she’s lonely though and Lin nods quietly. He informs her that the solution is plain then. Next time she has to be the one to close the distance between them.

He hums in thought and then suggests that she go one step further than what Shin has done. Lin chokes at that and Ikki tells her that he understands her resistance to that, but the source of the problem is her embarrassment at being proactive. In that case, she should exceed that line with all her strength and then she’ll be relieved. It’ll make the lovey-dovey stuff that follows after better.

She asks if that actually happens and Ikki tells her to think about it. Being all clingy and meeting each other grandly with love is a special priviledge of lovers. He smirks as he asks her if it isn’t a waste to not use that priviledge and avoid kisses. If she wants to monopolize that priviledge with Shin then she, more or less, needs to step forth with courage and effort; like how Shin did when he confessed to her.

Anyway, time passes as they continue to party. Kent is complimenting Shin’s perception and analysis. He extends an invitation for Shin to come to his university as a tutor or assistant. The labs could use a man of talent and excellence. Shin declines and explains that he already knows which school he is going to. Ikki asks Shin if he won’t join him and Kent in their mathematic puzzles then. He can come visit them and play with them.

Shin points out that Ikki could solve them by himself and so he isn’t needed. Ikki pouts and explains that lately the demon king has become stronger and he feels like the time is approaching when he’ll lose by himself. Kent asks him flatly who he is called the demon king and then asks if Ikki thinks of himself as the hero. Waka interrupts though and calls out that Shin should return back to the cafe when he’s done school.

He tells Shin that his blunt and cold attitude is surprisingly popular, especially among the older ladies. Shin promises to think about it, but he’d also like to work at the school. He also apologizes but wants them to keep the smell of sake away from him because he’s a minor. Kent calls him rude and asserts that he isn’t drunk. He’s normal! Completely normal! Shin flatly replies that Kent’s way of talking is proof that he’s drunk.

Then he directs his cutting words to another person and tells them to stop drinking or else it’ll be annoying to nurse her. Rika asks him with a slurred voice if he’s talking about her. He asks her who else he could be talking about then asks her if she wasn’t aware of how many glasses she kept drinking. Rika snaps at how rude he is because even from their first meeting he was picking at her impertinently.

Shin calls Ikki to do something about her. Ikki replies that he’s asking something impossible because right now he’s currently drunk as well and so his mind isn’t working well. Rika yells at Shin and asks him if he’s listening to her because she’s talking! Waka realizes in an epiphany that a domineering maid might have an appeal. Shin growls in exasperation at this sight around him.

In the kitchens, Sawa is wincing at how all the adults are drunk. It’s a good thing they stayed away from the alcohol. Lin asks Sawa if Shin is fine out there. Sawa reassures him that he’s fine, but it’s more like only Shin could control these drunk people. Mine scolds Lin for trying to change the subject. Lin apologizes and Mine asks excitedly what she’s going to do. Is she going to approach Shin with Ikki’s advice?

Lin hesitates and Sawa admits that this isn’t something to be decided on instantly though she thinks the advice is valid. After all, it is because she is such a late-bloomer and couldn’t convey her feelings that all these misunderstandings sprung up. That’s why if Shin sees her approaching him on her own then this misunderstanding will easily be cleared. Plus, the talk about how she can’t see him as anything but family is long in the past.

MISUNDERSTAND!? NO THIS ROUTE IS JUST FILLED WITH RAGEWALL. Lin recalls that for a while, as they dated, she wasn’t able to see him as anything but family. But on that day, she certainly… Flashback! Shin calls her an idiot for being able to twist her foot on a road that has nothing on it. Lin informs him that she’s wearing heels and asks him not to continue blaming her. Shin frowns and tells her that he wasn’t blaming her, he’s just calling her an idiot. OH… THANKS I GUESS? Then he orders her to show him her foot. It doesn’t seem to be swelling but he asks her if it hurts. She admits that there’s a throbbing pain. Shin notes that while it looks fine now it might start to swell later. And so he decides that they should head back so that they can place something cool on it. Lin stubbornly tells him that she’s fine and she can walk. They were going to go see a movie. He asks her if she’s going to walk on a broken heel. She winces and Shin averts his eyes as he points out that she can’t walk either.

The movies are still a distance away. She firmly tells him that she can walk and so he asks her to try standing then. Lin nods and attempts to but she yelps in pain when she tries and he sighs heavily. He narrows his eyes as he calls her an idiot again for

thinking she could walk when she can barely stand. Lin winces and asks him not to keep calling her an idiot. Shin replies that she’s an idiot which is why he’s calling her an idiot.

Then he orders her to sit down and be quiet. She apologizes quietly and he looks at her in confusion. She explains that they can’t watch the movies now, but he shrugs and reminds her that she was the one who wanted to watch the movies. She should be the one more disappointed. They can go to the movies whenever they want after her foot is healed, but for today they’re returning home. He asks her if she’s fine with that and she finally nods.

But then Shin realizes that she can’t walk. He’s silent as he averts his eyes before he finally tells her not to struggle. He picks her up bridal style and she yelps in surprise and starts to shift, but he tells her sternly not to struggle. He has a proper grasp on her but she still might fall like that. Lin protests that this is embarrassing. Shin snaps back that he’s the one who is embarrassed, but it can’t be helped since she can’t walk.

If they’re seen by someone they know then this would make a good story, especially if they’re seen by Sawa or Mine. She asks him hesitantly if she isn’t heavy and he tells her that she’s heavy. Extremely heavy. Lin blurts out that it’d be better if she walked in the end then! Shin points out that she can’t which is why they’ve ended up like this. He tells her again to be quiet because if she struggles then it makes her unnecessarily heavy.

She’s silent and he sighs before telling her not to be angry, because he was obviously joking. ಠ_ಠ IT’S HARD TO TELL SHIN.

AND STOP CALLING ME AN IDIOT. Lin points out that his expression was serious. Shin’s voice softens as he tells her that she really isn’t heavy. In fact, she’s lighter than he imagined and he’s a bit surprised. Then he smiles as he asks her if she remembers how in the past he wasn’t able to lift her up like this. He vaguely recalls that in the past she was also injured because she tripped somehow. Lin recalls that time. It happened when she and Shin were children and went to the park to play. She tripped and scraped her knees and it hurt a lot which made her cry loudly. Shin recalls that he became flustered at how much she was crying when the injury was small. He tried to carry her to return home quickly, but he was smaller than her at that time and couldn’t do it.

Lin tells him that she remembers he also had a distressed face at how much she was crying. But she doesn’t remember what happened afterwards. Shin explains that Toma came to find them because he was worried by how late they were and then Toma was the one who carried her home. He was jealous of Toma who had a composed face even though he walked faster than Shin. At the same time he felt frustration. A lot of it.

He thought that he definitely wanted to be larger than her and Toma. He would be huge and strong and become a self-confident man who could protect her. It makes him wonder if he’s become strong now that he can think of her as being light. Even though they were close to each other, Lin felt like she was noticing him at this time. The Shin who was smaller than her and didn’t want to depend on her is no longer there.

At some point she wasn’t able to meet his stride and had to look up to meet his eyes. She should have felt a long time ago when Shin became a man. Lin smiles softly and realizes out loud that Shin is no longer a cute younger brother now. Shin tells her that of course he isn’t. He’s no longer the child who could only stare at her as she cried. Then he asks her if she liked the past better. Does she prefer him as a childhood friend?

She quietly confesses that she likes the current him, because if he remained her childhood friend then one day he would be doing this to someone other than her, right? He smiles crookedly at her and admits the possibility. Lin confesses that when she thinks that way she finally understands it. She finally understands the meaning of Shin’s words when he said that he needed to change.

Lin confesses that she wants to remain like this forever. She wants to be in the position where she’s fallen and Shin has to save her. UHHHH… THAT’S NOT VERY ROMANTIC IF YOU NEED TO CONSTANTLY BE SAVED. It might be selfish of her but she doesn’t want anyone else to take the place beside Shin. That’s why she’s going to change as well. She’s going to protect her position. Shin is silent before he affectionately calls her an idiot for realizing this slow. She apologizes and Shin admits that he actually gave up a little. It’s been a month since they started going out and she hadn’t changed at all. He recalls that she’s told him before that she couldn’t see him as a man. Lin realizes that he remembered a lot. He becomes exasperated as he asks her how he could forget when he had to bear that. He also remembers her telling him that he should go out with some nice girl.

Lin is surprised and asks if she really said that. He tells her softly that she did say it, but right before they started dating. He had been subdued by that. OUCH. She apologizes again and he smiles as he tells her that he’ll forget it all so long as she never says it again. Then he tells her to say her current feelings. He wants to hear it from her mouth. She tells him softly that she likes him. Shin tells her 「もう一回」(One more time), but when she’s silent his voice drops to a whisper as he asks her to say it. She tells him that she likes him and not as a childhood friend or as family. She likes him. A genuine smile appears on his face as she’s finally said those words.

Back to the present! On that day, they threw away the meaning of a relationship between childhood friends and became lovers. She’s become pampered and satisfied at all that she’s been granted that she’s forgotten the feelings from that time. If she loves Shin then she can’t not move. Sawa smiles and she comments on how she doesn’t need to ask Lin to have the answer. Mine grins slyly and points out that Lin’s face is red. What did she remember?

Sawa chides Mine for making fun of Lin, but Lin thanks them because it’s these two who helped her find the answer. Sawa grins and reminds her that she has to convey those feelings to Shin. Suddenly Kent appears in the kitchen and asks them why they are all gathered here. Sawa yelps in surprise and then asks him what he’s doing here. Kent replies that he drank a bit too much and he wanted to get some water.

Mine hands him a glass of water and then realizes that they might as well pass out water to everyone who is drunk. Sawa agrees because if they leave them drunk at this time then the party will never end. Then she tells Lin to use this opportunity to head to Shin and strike while the iron is hot. Kent informs her that if she has business with Shin, he went outside. When Lin looks confused he explains that Shin might have been hassled too much.

He went outside with a tired look and so she should head outside if she wants to find him. Lin thanks him and then excuses herself. When she steps outside, Shin throws a surprised look her way before relaxing when he recognizes her. He thought Ikki and the others came out to drag him in again. She tells him that everyone is still inside. Those who were drunk seem to be sobering.

Shin rolls his eyes and tells her that it’d be nice if they didn’t continue drinking again after they became sober. At this rate, they’ll definitely continue until the morning. She asks him if he’s alright or if he’s tired and he points out that anyone would be tired after having conversations in all directions with no rest, but it wasn’t like he disliked it.

He remembers that in the past when he showed up in places where people have gathered like this, he rarely used to think that it was fun. He doesn’t know the reason but he can relax in this group and this comfort isn’t bad. She nods quietly and he notices that she’s awfully quiet. He also notices that her face is a bit red which makes him tell her that she better not have been drinking the sake. Lin shakes her head and tells him that she didn’t and she’s fine.

Shin is suspicious but he decides that it’s fine if it’s nothing. He looks at her silently for a bit before he suggests that they head inside. The inside of the cafe is warm while the outside is cold. It’d be a problem if they caught a cold. Lin agrees since he’s preparing for his exams still, but Shin corrects her to say that he had been talking about her.

He points out that she’s poor at noticing the change in temperature and she often catches a cold when the seasons turn. Lin is surprised by that observation. Shin averts his eyes as he tells her that Toma, the one prone to worrying and taking care of her, isn’t here right now. She’s going to have to deal with her nightmares alone. Lin asks him quietly if he won’t come and he tells her that can’t.

Shin thinks that he’d be insufficient alone. Plus, even if he asked to go she would refuse. That’s why if she does have a nightmare it’d be a problem. That’s why he’s using all his time to study, so that she has nothing to worry about and can sleep easily. At least, that’s what would happen if she caught a cold. That’s why they should return before that actually happens. By the time she realizes it, she’ll have caught a cold.

Before he goes in she calls out for him to wait. He looks back over his shoulder and asks her if she’s returning. She hesitantly asks him to stay a little longer. He turns back to look at her in confusion because he thought she came out here to call him in. Lin confesses that she came here to be together with him rather than calling him. Shin sighs and admits that he doesn’t understand, but since she wants him here then he’ll stay.

She nods firmly and tells him that she wants him here. He becomes silent and so she asks him if she can request something. When he asks her what it is, she tells him that she wants to go to his room. He blinks in confusion and asks her what for. She hesitates at that because she can’t say that she wants to be alone together where she can attack him. But she can’t give up here either. She has to convey her intentions somehow.

Lin stutters out the word bass. He blinks in confusion and so she blurts out that she wants to hear his bass and that’s why she wants to go to his room! He frowns and asks her if she’s serious, becaus for no special reason she’s suddenly demanding something hard. But he agrees to make amends for today, but he doesn’t want her to expect too much. He invites her to come to his house tomorrow night then.

But he’ll also say it once more. He doesn’t want her to expect too much. Suddenly Waka appears and is surprised to see the two of them here. He asks them if he was interrupting but Shin shakes his head and then asks if something is the matter. Waka informs them that they’re about to end the party and so he came to find them. He invites them back in and both Shin and Lin promise to go in.

9月26日. Lin sighs heavily because it’s almost time for her to head to Shin’s house but she’s nervous. Can she do it well? When she reaches Shin’s room, he greets her by telling her that she’s late. Did something happen? Lin tells him slowly that she ate, but he tells her that he’s not talking about food. He wants to know if she’s alright. He seems to have picked up on her nervousness as he asks her why she’s standing in the entrance.

He invites her in and she excuses herself quietly as she comes in which makes Shin narrow his eyes. He asks her if something is seriously wrong with her because her eyes are darting all over the place. Is she ill? Lin replies that she’s just nervous which makes Shin point out in confusion that this isn’t her first time entering his room. Plus, she’s the one who wanted to come to his room so why is she nervous now?

Lin replies that today is special. Shin repeats her words in confusion before realizing that no one is around today. Is that the cause of her nervousness? He tells her not to be so scared because today is her request day and he’s bearing that in mind. Then he remembers that she came to hear his bass and so he tells her to wait as he prepares. Lin is silent as she thinks about how she used the reason of wanting to hear his bass to be alone together in his room.

But she’s actually really into listening to him play the bass, in addition to how difficult it would be without the right timing. Could it be that she failed with this? Suddenly she hears Shin cursing. When she calls his name questioningly he apologizes because a string on his bass snapped. He doesn’t know why but it snapped. This is the first time his string snapped too; what superb timing.

He grins though because honestly he’s a bit relieved. He’s still reluctant to play in front of her. But then that means he wasn’t able to grant her wish. He asks her what she would like to do, because they could go out to buy a string and she shouldn’t be bored in a music shop. Lin decides that today is late so she’s fine with doing that another time. That’s why she’d like to have a different wish today. Shin is confused but he lets her know that he’ll do it.

Lin tells him quietly that she wants to be closer to him. Shin’s eyes widen before he narrows his eyes and asks her if Ikki is hiding somewhere. She shakes her head and tells him that there’s nothing. He asks her in frustration what this is then because it’s strange. Something had to have happened. But he averts his eyes as he mumbles that with Lin she’s unaware to the extreme. When she calls out his name he smiles and tells her that it’s nothing.

He also tells her that if she’s fine with it then he is too. She can be as close to him as she’d like. Lin steps closer and fists her hands into his shirt. Both of them are silent before Shin finally asks her if this can be called getting closer, because all he feels is that she’s clinging onto him. LMFAO OH GOD THIS DRY SNARK. She tells him firmly that as long as she’s touching him then it’s fine. Shin is silent before he says 「・・・おい、ただの気まぐれならあんま長くやってんなよ。じゃないとおまえが危な

い」(… Oi, if this is just a whim then don’t do it for very long. If you don’t, then it’ll be dangerous for you). His voice becomes tight as he murmurs about how just when he decided to wait, she does this. What kind of trial is this. He suddenly tells her to seriously release him soon now, or else it’ll be really bad. Lin stubbornly tells him that she doesn’t want to and she clings onto him tighter. He calls her an idiot and reminds her that he doesn’t want to push her. It’s true he said he wasn’t going to raise a hand to her, but it’s another thing to restrain himself when she comes onto him. But if they continue to remain like this then he’ll probably force something on her again and so she should let go before that.

She interrupts him and tells him that it’s fine. Shin gapes at her in shock but she continues on to say that he won’t be forcing her. She’s fine if he kisses her more. Inwardly, she feels like her heart is going to stop. Just like all the times he kissed her, it’s pounding. Just saying that one word makes her feel as if she used up all her courage. Shin is silent before he asks her tightly if she understands what she’s implying in this situation.

Lin tells him that she understands and she said it because she knows. His voice lowers as he confirms with her that she won’t regret it, right? He warns her 「1回タガが外れたら・・・多分、止めてやれない」(Once I let go of my self-control… I probably won’t stop). O-OH MY (*ノ∀ノ)イヤン. He adds that he might do things she doesn’t like and is afraid of. Is she really alright with that? Lin answers that she is because she loves Shin. She came here today for that reason. Shin is silent before he calls her an idiot. Lin is utterly confused and asks him what he means by that and so he explains that this is strange and he’s not happy when she’s forcing herself. She denies that she’s enduring it because she really feels this way. Shin points out that even if she thinks that way, her body is betraying her. He tells her to look at her hand which is trembling.

Page 33: Amnesia Later Shin

That’s not it either. Shin thinks his words about doing forceful things to her might have had persuasive powers. He explains that even if he did anything to her, her expression would create a distance between them. He sighs and wonders how it came to this. Then he asks her why she is suddenly doing this and if someone put her up to it. When Lin asks him why he thinks that, he points out that she wouldn’t act like this on her own.

It’s normal to think that someone else has gotten involved. He can guess for himself though that it’d be Ikki, Sawa, and Mine. Lin is taken aback by how accurate he is and Shin calmly explains that she only became strangely proactive after yesterday’s celebration. But the reality is that her expression looked like she ran away from him. Anyway, in the party the people who would give advice are those three. It’s obvious to him.

He averts his eyes as he concludes that she said something about him and is now doing these stupid things. Lin admits that she sought advice but the person who decided to act on it is her. She explains that she doesn’t want to be childhood friends but she wants to go out with him properly like lovers. Shin frowns as he points out that even if she says that she can’t change immediately. She still hates kisses, right?

Lin denies hating his kisses. It’s more like she’s unskilled at them. Shin tells her that those two meanings are the same. Lin asserts that they’re completely different. She really doesn’t hate his kisses, but it’s just that whenever he kisses her her heart is pounding so much she feels like it’ll break. It becomes painful and because of that pain she ran away. That’s the truth.

Shin is confused and doesn’t understand how just a kiss can make her feel that way. Lin responds back by asking Shin how he is fine then. Because he always seems collected she starts to wonder if he even likes her. Shin is taken aback and asks her in a pained voice why she would think that and why he can’t seem to convey how much he loves her. OMG YOU TWO ARE RIDICULOUS. IN A BAD “I WANT TO HIT MY FACE INTO THE WALL AND BLACK OUT” WAY. She points out that whenever they kiss he’s absolutely fine. He snaps back that he isn’t, but she fires back that he is. She’s the only one who is flustered. Shin is silent for a beat before he says calmly that it’s truth his heart doesn’t feel like it’s going to break but he’s definitely not composed! He becomes frantic when he kisses her. He’s always frantically suppressing the part of him that wants to rage out of desire. It’s painful.

But still he wishes to ravage her. All of this is because he loves her. Did she not receive any of that? Lin replies that if he doesn’t say it then she won’t know. TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE BITCH. Shin responds back that he can say the same thing. He thought it was normal to kiss because they liked each other. Lin tells him that it’s because she likes him that she’s so nervous she can’t do kisses, she thinks. His expression twists as he realizes that both of them were troubled, and if only they had taken the time to open up and realize the simple differences in their sense of values. They must resemble idiots. He thought it was idiotic and so he left it alone which only made him an idiot as well. She asks him quietly if he was troubled and he replies that he was troubled from being rejected by the woman he likes.

Especially after all that they had passed. He felt uneasy about things returning to the way they were before again. He doesn’t want to say this but he also consulted Ikki. Lin is surprised but Shin explains that it was more like Ikki was meddling with their business rather than a consultation. They talked a lot about things. It was on the day that she came to apologize to him, he had actually been on the phone with Ikki.

They were talking about preparations for the party and so when he ended the call and she appeared, he was really surprised. The timing was too good. Anyway, Ikki said a lot of things but Shin didn’t think he was strong enough to step back and wait. When

he saw her come to him he thought how he needed to protect her and treasure her. And that’s when he decided that until she accepted him on her own terms he’ll stop doing things.

And now they’ve come to this day. He’s a little flustered by how fast it is but now that he knows her true thoughts he feels refreshed. Lin apologizes as she realizes she should have said it earlier. Shin smiles softly and waves her apology off before saying that he should have done the same. He said he’d do as she wished but he didn’t understand her fundamental feelings.

He promises to make an effort to think about her wishes first more from now on. Then Shin asks her what she would say if he told her to say her most selfish wish. He said he’d make an effort but in the end the only person who knows her true feelings is herself. That’s why he wants her to say it and after she says it he’ll do his best to grant it. Lin tells him that his words make her happy but she can’t immediately think of a wish.

Shin tells her to say the first thing that comes to mind. He wants her to think about this to the very limit and promises not to be surprised no matter what kind of large selfish wish comes out. Lin thinks about it for a second and then hesitantly answers that she wants to be with him together more. Even when they occasionally meet up and they have to part for 2 to 3 hours, she feels lonely.

He sighs and mumbles about how that’s a small selfish wish. He wants her to reach for something greedier. Lin replies that it might be small but that’s the wish she wants to be granted right now the most. Shin is silent before he tells her one day. When she looks confused, he tells her with a soft smile that if they spend a whole day together then it’ll be sufficient for the other days, right?

Lin replies that of course it’ll be more than enough, but she asks him if it’s really alright. Shin tells her that he has a mock exam coming up, but if he can score an A for his preferred school then he can free up one whole day. She doesn’t have any problems with that, right? She just has to endure it until he finishes his exam. But Shin promises to study even harder than he had before to make sure he definitely gets an A. He asks her if she’ll wait for him.

She easily promises to wait. Shin smiles and tells her that she can phone or email him, though his reply may be late. Lin reassures him that she’ll endure it. Unfortunately that means the date for today will have to be cancelled. There is only a week left until the mock exams. He’s not at his wit’s end but if he wants to aim for an A then he has to be serious from now.

He confesses that he’s pained at how he has to be apart from her after hearing her true feelings though. But if he was caught up and failed his mock exam then it’d be impossible to clear an entire day. If that happens then she’ll be disappointed, right? He knows he’d be and that is why he’s going to work hard right now. In exchange, on that one day he’ll go out with her until she’s satisfied.

Lin tells him that she understands and she’ll return home for today because she doesn’t want to get in the way. He gives her an affectionate smile and nods, but before she leaves he calls out to her again. When she looks back in confusion he confesses that he wants her to stay a bit longer actually. Lin tries to protest but Shin admits that although he said those words, somehow it feels like a waste to let her go home today.

She asks him if he can concentrate with her here. He replies quickly that he can; or more like he’ll try to do it even if it’s impossible, and so he wants her to stay by his side. Lin is silent before she agrees to stay for a while longer. Shin averts his eyes with a blush as he complains about her loose expression. Lin laughs and tells him that it’s because she’s happy. He’s silent before another blush appears.

Shin tells her that stupid look is forbidden because looking at it makes his determination shake. Lin replies that even if he forbids it, it just appears because she’s happy. Shin orders her to turn the other way then and read the books on the side, because he’s going to study. Lin blinks in confusion but agrees to do it.

Time passes and Lin soon notices that it’s dark outside. She contemplates heading home soon since she can still return alone at this time, but then she notices Shin sleeping. She giggles when she realizes that it’s been a while since she last saw his sleeping face, but it hasn’t changed much since childhood. Then she decides to take a picture and thinks it should be fine; hopefully the sound of the shutter won’t wake him.

Shin murmurs that it’s forbidden to take pictures secretly though and she flinches back in surprise. She asks him if he was awake, but he replies tiredly that he just woke up before asking when he fell asleep. Lin answers that she doesn’t know either, but probably 10 minutes. He sighs in relief which makes her suggest that if he’s tired then he should get some sleep because it’ll improve his efficiency.

He tells her that he’s not tired, but he probably just relaxed too much. He averts his eyes and blushes as he admits that it feels good having her near. It comforts him. He thought she was wanting to be on guard around him and so it makes him happy that she trusts him enough to stay together with him. But he grins and warns her not to be too unprepared because now that he knows that she doesn’t dislike his kisses, he’ll kiss her when he gets the chance.

Lin gapes at him and his smile softens as he tells her not to be so flustered. Even though he’ll kiss her he won’t do it selfishly like he did before. There’s no need to be desperate anymore. He informs her that he’ll watch the movies she’s interested in and study until he finds the type of kiss that she’s fine with. O-OHH… (〃゚艸゚):;*. She protests about how embarrassing that is and he replies with amusement that he was joking. Then he asks her if he can sleep for 5 more minutes. She promises him that she’ll wake him up and so he should rest. He thanks her softly and in her mind she wishes him good night.

10月1日. Sawa tiredly congratulates Lin for working hard but then groans about how tired she is. She slyly points out that it might have been good for Lin to be so busy that she was distracted though. Lin blinks in confusion and asks why, which makes Sawa remind her exasperatedly that she must be worried about Shin since he has an exam tomorrow. She frowns as she chides Lin for possibly forgetting it since she had her head in the clouds while working. Lin is surprised and apologizes to Sawa for causing her trouble. Sawa waves it off though and reassures her that she still did her job. But then Sawa jokes about how Waka seemed kind of interested in the troubled atmosphere and he becomes a maniac to fix things apparently. Apparently the sales today was also very good since the core customers increased. Lin exasperatedly tells Sawa not to tease her.

She giggles and apologizes before becoming serious and telling Lin not to worry that much. Shin has good grades, doesn’t he? Lin nods and admits that Shin has better grades than her, but that’s why she’s not worried about the grades aspect. Sawa looks confused and asks what else Lin can be worried about then. But then Mine appears and congratulates the two for working hard. She apologizes when she realizes she must have interrupted a conversation.

Sawa grins though and tells Mine that she came at the right time. Right now she was asking Lin about a report on her progress with Shin. Mine brightens up and excitedly tells Lin that she wants to hear as well. Then she recalls that Lin wasn’t very energetic today. Did something happen between her and Shin? Lin shakes her head and tells Mine that they have no problems now. It’s just that she’s lonely from not seeing Shin for a week now.

She wonders if others can see that trouble on her. Mine is surprised they haven’t seen each other and confirms that they haven’t been in a fight or have had problems. Sawa explains that the two promised to go on a date if the exam results were good and so they had to endure not meeting until then. Mine realizes that for the week before then Lin and Shin had been hiding their troubles and faking being well together.

Lin thanks the two of them for helping her last time because she and Shin have returned to their previous status. Mine slyly confesses that she’d have liked it if it were more complicated. Lin blurts out that it’d be a huge problem then! Mine reassures her that it was a joke because Mine is sure that Lin and Shin would have fixed it soon even if it got worse. Sawa grins and says that those are just words though.

Because Lin was all flustered and Shin had to finally come up with a way to reconcile and treat her well. Lin tries to deny it but ends up agreeing quietly that Sawa might be right. Sawa laughs brightly and is glad to see Lin’s usual expression. But then she suggests that if Lin is constantly thinking about him then she might as well go and see him. Lin points out that today is the day before his test though.

Mine’s eyes widen as she shouts out that Lin has to see Shin because tomorrow is his test. What is she saying!? It isn’t good if the two of them are just enduring it all because then the frustration will.. Sawa cuts in and finishes it by saying it’ll accumulate. She rolls her eyes while telling Mine that they heard it before. But Mine has a point because it’s important to treasure the times one can relax.

This makes Mine nod her head furiously. If she goes to see Shin for a while then he’ll definitely work hard tomorrow. Sawa also adds that it’ll just be for a little bit too. She’s sure Shin will also be pleased to see her. Lin starts to crumble and wonders if it’s really fine. Mine tells her that it is and they’ll forgive her. Sawa tells her that if Shin treats her coldly then she can call them and they’ll have a food party.

Lin giggles at that but is convinced. In truth, she really wanted to see Shin as well. She thanks the two of them for pushing on her back. Sawa reassures her that it’s fine and then pouts at the cute expression Lin has because it makes her jealous. Mine adds that if Shin sees this smiling face then even if he was angry he wouldn’t be able to stay angry. Sawa adds that Mine isn’t wrong and then ushers Lin off before she’s late.

It’s late by the time she gets to Shin’s house and when she enters his room, he is extremely surprised to see her. Lin apologizes because she hadn’t intended to enter his room but his mother bade her to. Shin reassures her that he doesn’t mind, but did something happen? It isn’t like her to arrive without a call and so is there some urgent business? Lin tells him that there isn’t anything, she just came to see his face.

Shin narrows his eyes and comments on how much free time she has. He thought they said not to meet each other until he finished his exam too. Shin’s mother appears to scold him for talking like that when he’s really happy. Shin’s eyes widen as he asks his mother if she’s peeking. His mother apologizes to Lin and complains about how Shin was cuter as a child when he was more honest. Shin glares and tells his mother to stop that.

Lin tells his mother not to worry because Shin still has cute areas. He changes targets and asks Lin what she’s saying. Lin tells him cheekily that she thinks it’s cute he still likes melon soda. Is she wrong? He replies that the problem isn’t with her getting that right or wrong. Then he grumbles about why he suddenly feels tired after she came. She tilts her head in confusion and he stares at her pointedly in silence.

But then he smiles and shrugs it off. Seeing her energetic face offsets how tired she made him. In the end, he also knows that working non-stop like that isn’t good. He thanks her for coming and his mother muses on how nice it would be if he was always this honest. Shin closes his eyes in frustration and complains about his mother being noisy. He finally tells them that he’ll escort Lin home.

Lin is surprised and tells him that she can return home alone. He tells her firmly that he’s going to walk her home, although it’s also because he really doesn’t want to stay here any longer. While they’re walking home, Shin is silent before he starts to blush and he calls her an idiot in annoyance before asking why she’s grinning like that. Lin replies that she never thought Shin would hold her hand.

Page 38: Amnesia Later Shin

He explains that it’s dangerous because it’s dark and she walks slow. Lin nods and tells him that she knows it’s nothing but she’s still happy. He looks away and calls her simplistic. After a beat of silence he asks her if she remembers when he said it was embarrassing to hold hands like an elementary kid. She remembers it clearly. He muses on how at that time he said that their relationship hadn’t changed at all from the past.

But now he understands that meaning. As children their hand sizes hadn’t differed so much and they had no awareness of embarrassment. He held her hand without thinking about anything else. But now it’s different. He’s holding her hand because he wants to touch her even a little. A small smile appears as he confesses that while it’s still embarrassing it’s also reassuring. It lets him know that she’s there.

He wonders out loud if this reason is why she wanted to hold hands. If so, he can understand a little now. That’s why he’s fine with holding hands once in a while from now on. Lin repeats his words in amusement and he replies that only once in a while because he’s still hesitant about it. She giggles at that but lets him know that she understands. They’ll slowly get used to it. Shin immediately fires back that this applies to her as well.

Shin will be troubled if she doesn’t hurry up and get used to his kisses. Lin winces and promises to work hard. He teasingly points out that she didn’t say she is already working hard, but then he tells her to take it naturally. They have a lot of time and so she can do it slowly. Lin gives him a bright smile in response.

10月2日. Lin is snoozing in her room until she is startled awake by her phone. When she answers it, Shin tells her that he finished his exam. She asks him how he did and he answers that the feedback is reasonable. He has confidence but he can’t say anything arrogant until he sees the results. She hums and then congratulates him for working hard. Then she asks if he’s already outside. Shin answers that he only had an exam today and so he returned home.. to sleep. At least, that’s what he thought. But Shin asks her if he can head to her place instead because he wants to see her face even for a little while. She asks him worriedly if he isn’t tired. He replies that he’s extremely tired but seeing her will make it all disappear. He asks for her permission and Lin gives it to him while promising to have melon soda out and waiting.

There’s amusement in his voice as he tells her that he couldn’t care less about that. As long as she’s there then he’s happy. He ends the call by telling her that he’ll be there soon. 20 minutes later Shin has arrived and he’s embracing her from behind. He sighs heavily and comments on how calm he feels. She asks him if he’s alright and he reassures her that he is. He’s just feeling lethargic.

But he might be a little tired in truth. It was harsh not being able to meet her for six days. Lin points out that they saw each other yesterday. Shin replies that they didn’t meet; it was more like she came to him. But thanks to her he was able to feel determined again and so it was all right. Then he comments on how warm she is, like a child. She replies that it isn’t that she’s warm, but that he’s cold.

Shin’s voice is thoughtful as he tells her that he ran all the way here so he doesn’t think he’s that cold. Lin is surprised by that and he confirms that he ran because he wanted to see her quicker. He murmurs 「・・・さっき電話でさ、おまえの声、耳

元で聞いて・・・ああ、今こいつ嬉しそうに笑ってんのかなって顔思い浮かべたら・・・会いたくてたまんなくな

ってた」(… That phone call a while ago, your voice, hearing it in my ear… Aah, I imagined your happily smiling face in my mind… and then I wanted to see you so bad).

Even if it were just one second faster he wanted to touch her. He wanted to kiss her badly and before he knew it he was running. Shin’s voice softens as he asks her if he can ask something selfish. When she asks him what it is, he turns his head to press his lips against her cheek. She turns red but he murmurs that during the day they have their date he’ll do everything she wants to do so long as she hears his present selfish request.

She whispers that he’s tickling her and he replies back just as quietly to tell her to bear it, because right now he’s restraining himself extremely. After a while of silence she calls his name. When he asks her what it is, she asks him why he didn’t kiss her on the lips. He points out that she said she was poor at it and her heart pounded so much it hurt.

He’s happy that her heart races when he touches her, but he’s compromising because it hurts her so much she ends up disliking it. He asks her, with his lips against her cheek, if it still hurts like this. Lin is silent as she thinks that no matter where he kisses, so long as it’s Shin, her heart will race. But when she thinks that this is an expression of Shin’s love and her heart races, it doesn’t only hurt.

Shin tells her that if it pains then he’ll stop, but she shakes her head and admits that while her heart is pounding she’s fine. His murmurs in acknowledgement but soon Lin asks Shin to wait for a bit. He stops and admits that he thought she’d say that soon. He steps back from her and decides that he’ll go home then because he’s seen her face for more than enough. When the results come out he’ll contact her.

Lin nods and tells him that she’s looking forward to their date. Shin frowns and reminds her that the results haven’t come out yet. She tells him firmly that Shin won’t break his promises. He laughs and grins at how it’s nice for her to trust in him but that’s some amazing pressure. But he thanks her before telling her that he’ll prepare himself to answer all her wishes for the date. She asks if he has confidence.

He laughingly tells her that he’s going to work hard. And so that’s why he wants her to wait and anticipate it. She smiles brightly at him.

3 weeks later. Lin receives a mail from Shin and it tells her that he received an A. He’s still in his prep school but he wanted to report that to her. He’ll contact her at night. It looks like he didn’t break his promise.

10月30日. Lin is adding a last ingredient to something she’s cooking and she finishes just as her doorbell rings. She goes out to see Shin standing there and he greets her by noting that she’s actually awake. She greets him good morning and then asks him if something happened since there’s still time before they were supposed to meet. Shin explains that he thought they could eat breakfast together and so he bought a meal from the convenience store. But he admits that, in reality, he ran away from his meddling mother. Lin is surprised and asks what his mother said. He tells her vaguely that it was about a lot of things and then suggests they head inside. When he enters he asks her worriedly if she ate already because he can smell something nice. He comments on how diligent she is to make a proper breakfast in the morning. Lin tells him that it isn’t breakfast and shows him the kitchen.

Shin’s eyes widen when he realizes that they’re bentos. She explains that she thought they could eat them for lunch at the zoo. He repeats the word bento in shock which makes Lin ask him worriedly if she put anything he disliked inside, though she thinks she knows all of his likes and dislikes. Shin reassures her that he was just recalling a memory from their childhood and it makes him feel strange.

When they were young they used to have family outings where everyone ate from bentos. Lin points out that she made bentos then too. He nods but tells her that wasn’t his point. She also tells him that the bento she made for the family and the bento she’s making as his girlfriend aren’t different. Shin averts his eyes and blushes slightly as he agrees, but somehow thinking about it makes him feel embarrassed.

Lin comments on how Shin hates it when he’s treated like a childhood friend, yet he’s embarrassed whenever they act like lovers. Shin reminds her that she used to talk about the drama that came from being all clingy. Anyone would be embarrassed by that and plus he’s aware that it doesn’t suit him. Lin reminds him that he’s supposed to spend the entire day with her. Shin flatly tells her that he feels like he heard a death sentence in there.

Just what did he get himself into? Lin cheekily tells him that she isn’t going to say anything unnecessary, but all she wants is to have a lover’s date. When he asks for examples she lists eating a bento together and sharing a soft ice cream. Shin becomes alarmed and hurriedly tells her that he doesn’t understand what she means by sharing. Plus, he didn’t realize she was that type of person.

Lin admits that she always wanted to do it but she never could say it. She thought he’d definitely refuse. Shin closes his eyes in resignation as he tells her that he promised to fulfill all her desires today. Anyway, he changes he subject and tells her to eat breakfast. He bought her favorite bread. Some time passes and Shin soon asks her if she’s done her preparations but Lin asks for more time.

He tells her exasperatedly that she said that a while ago but 10 minutes has passed already. He came early but if she’s going to be delayed with preparations then there was no point. Also, why is she so concerned with her appearance now? He’s already seen everything about how helpless she can be and her bed hair. She tells him that those were different and she wants to prepare for a date properly.

Lin finally finishes and presents herself to Shin, whose mouth falls open. She asks him worriedly if she looks strange and it takes him a second to tell her that she doesn’t really and it’s not bad. Lin complains about how he always uses that line. Shin is silent before a blush appears and he mumbles that she looks cute and it really suits her. Then he asks her in annoyance if that is good enough.

Page 41: Amnesia Later Shin

Then she asks him if she looks like a lover. He tells her tiredly that he doesn’t understand what she’s basing it on. She points out that she thinks it’s normal for a girl to want the person she likes to say that she’s cute. Shin grumbles out that he isn’t like Ikki and can’t say it so carefreely. AND THAT’S WHY YOU’RE BORING…Then hurriedly tells her that they should head out now that she’s done. Staying here while she’s like this is a little painful. Anyway, they head to the zoo and Shin comments on how it’s been a long time. Not much has changed since the past, though it looks like the animals have increased. Lin is running around telling him to hurry up and then she asks him excitedly where he wants to go. He yells at her not to run. He chides her for running around so much that she makes the children over there look calm.

She tells him that she was always looking forward to this though. Shin points out that if she trips and hurts herself then she won’t be able to enjoy it. He sighs and tells her to give him her hand. Lin’s eyes widen and he looks embarrassed as he tells her not to suddenly stop like that, especially when he lectured her to be careful already. She asks him if he’s fine with this though and he explains that she would have asked to hold hands eventually.

Plus he’s scared of how with the way she’s running around right now that she’ll walk right into a group of lions. Shin smiles softly and tells her that she’s that happy. He asks for her hand again and she gives it to him happily. Then he asks her what she’d like to see. Lin suggests walking around and seeing everything. Shin figured she would say that and so he proposes to look at things in order which means the first are the hippos.

His eyebrows furrow as he realizes that those are considered to be omens. Lin points out that they’re cute. He’s surprised and asks her how they’re cute when they just float in the water. She tries to say that they’re strong which makes Shin point out that cuteness and strength are different things. Her senses are strange. Anyway, he decides to head on to the next but Lin begs to look at the hippos more.

Shin looks exasperated as he asks her how long she wants to look at them. If they dally around like this they won’t have enough time to see everything. He reminds her that when she was young she also spent too much time in one place and then didn’t have time for the last one. He scolds her to learn from her mistakes. They’re doing a circuit anyway, so she can look at her favorite ones with the extra time.

Lin teases him by saying that this is expected of a student who is preparing for the exams. He knows how to use his time. He responds that she is too thoughtless, or more like she doesn’t think about some things as much as she should. He knows that well from her and he retorts by calling her a university student. She protests that she studies a lot and he softens by asking her not to be angry at that.

But then he notes that she really is beaming. She explains that it’s because she’s having fun and feeling happy. They’re also holding hands. He nods indulgently and then takes her to the next which are giraffes. Some time later, Shin notes that it is just past the afternoon now and they’ve almost done half of the zoo. He figures it’s about time to eat lunch. Lin agrees and then spots a rest area.

Shin recalls abruptly that she made a bento. He had forgotten about that. She’s surprised since he’s the one carrying it. He replies that he was trying not to be aware of it. Anyway, he spots an empty seat and then urges her to go and sit in it, but to avoid the shade since it’s cold. 5 minutes later, he returns with drinks and now they can eat. Lin hesitantly calls his name and Shin asks her what is it.

But then he comments on how she can’t have forgotten the chopsticks, right? She’s not that idiotic, is she? Lin shakes her head and tells them that she has them, but.. Lin uses a fork to pierce an omelette and then she holds it out to him while asking him if he wants some. Shin is turning completely red as he blurts out that anything is fine and then his voice becomes strained as he asks her if he really has to eat it.

Lin tells him that she wants him to taste the flavor. Shin replies that the problem isn’t whether it tastes delicious or not; what he wants to say is why he can’t eat it normally. She recalls that as a child he had always hated being fed. He snaps back that things like these are embarrassing and are there even people who would do these things? She points out that she does. He sighs tiredly since that is why they’re in this situation.

He grumbles about what kind of punishment game this is because he’s dying from embarrassment. She asks him to open his mouth and he reluctantly gives in by asking her to make it bite-sized. When she asks him if it was delicious, he mutters that it is… probably. Lin is confused by that and he explains grumpily that he didn’t have the time to taste it. She urges him to try her fried chicken then because she is sure the taste is good.

She also wants him to try her macaroni salad that she made herself. She also thinks her asparagus bacon was well done. Shin tells her exasperatedly to calm down because he’ll eat it all. Lin happily tells him the next one will be the fried chicken then which makes him ask her hesitantly if she intends to feed them all to him like that. 20 minutes later, they finally finish eating and Lin thanks him for eating it all.

He mumbles about how anyone could eat like that, but then asks her if she had time to eat as well since she was always fussing with him. She reassures him that she did, but she didn’t want to eat too much because she wants ice cream. Shin asks her weakly if she seriously wants to do that still. But before that they should return to their lap around the zoo. He wonders out loud where they last stopped and she reminds him that they were at the birds.

Shin smiles a bit as he wonders if they have owls. Anyway, soon night falls and they get back to the station. Lin muses on how she somehow feels lonely now that they returned back. Shin asks her how much she likes the zoo since they stayed until closing and she still hasn’t had enough. She asks him if he didn’t have any fun, but he reassures her that he did. Plus, he saw a lot of her happy face.

Page 43: Amnesia Later Shin

Lin confesses that she’s happy because she was treated nicely by Shin a lot. He doesn’t think he was nice, because it was more like he had no choice but to be open to her unreservedness. He nearly died of embarrassment to the bento and ice cream though and so he wants her to give him a break. She pouts at how he only ate a little bit of the ice cream. Shin replies that one bite is enough to count as sharing and so he fulfilled his promise.

She recalls how delicious it was and he sighs at how carefree she is, although he’s happy as long as she’s smiling. Anyway, he suggests that they return home then although since it’s so late he’ll walk her back. When they reach her home, Shin bids her goodbye and tells her to sleep soon so she doesn’t oversleep tomorrow. She nods quietly but Shin is taken aback by the gloomy look on her face.

He asks her where her beaming expression from lunch went. She remains silent though and so he tells her that if she has something to say she should say it. He told her that he would do anything she wanted today and so he’ll keep that promise until the last. Lin murmurs that it’s nothing then which makes Shin hum lightly before he tells her that if it’s nothing then he’ll head home.

There’s silence for a second before Shin asks her why she’s grabbing the hem of his jacket. He won’t be able to go home like that. Lin is silent before telling him that she doesn’t want him to go home yet. Shin’s eyes widen before a blush steals by his face as he asks her if she’s aware of what time it is right now. He’ll tell her right now that if she’s wanting him to go up with her at this time then he won’t hold responsibility for what happens after.

He said he wasn’t going to raise a hand to her but if she’s saying it then it’s different. Is she prepared for anything to happen? She flinches and he calmly points out that she isn’t and so she shouldn’t say such things. He doesn’t think they need to go that far to have had a “lover’s date”. Lin apologizes but confesses that she wants to be with him a while longer. He averts his eyes with a blush before sighing heavily.

Shin finally agrees not to go home yet, but only as long as she doesn’t look at him with those eyes. He really isn’t going to take responsibility. The two enter her room and she offers him something to drink. He refuses politely and then points out that she must be tired from running around all day. Doesn’t she want to rest?

He averts his eyes and adds 「言っとくけど、寝込みを襲おうなんて考えてないからな。そこまで飢えてないつもり

だから」(I’ll say this now, I’m not thinking about attacking you while you’re asleep. I’m not that starved yet). LMFAO AWAJDGKHHSJKFGH. Lin tells him that she’s not tired, but she’d like to go over there. He’s surprised she wants to come beside him but shrugs in reply. Shin comments on how he feels strange because today she was really honest and being spoiled. Lin points out that Shin told her to be as selfish as she wanted without reserve for today. He asks her if that means up until now she’s been restraining herself from saying anything. Lin admits that she did because she didn’t want him to hate her. Shin’s voice is laced with amazement as he asks her why he would dislike her. It’s not possible. She confesses that she thought if she said things that troubled him he’d slowly dislike her.

He points out that they’ve been together since they were born, so how could he dislike her just from her being a little more selfish. The two of them have seen each other’s annoying and deplorable parts countless of times. She points out that they were childhood friends then which is an unbreakable bond and so she wasn’t that worried. But being a boyfriend is different and he has a choice to break up with her.

Page 44: Amnesia Later Shin

She knows Shin wants to become her boyfriend but she’s afraid of that. The word boyfriend makes her feel like it’ll be destroyed in an instant. She became afraid when she heard her friends talking about breaking up with their boyfriends. Shin is someone she loves and a precious childhood friend. He’s someone she wants to be together with forever.

That’s why when she thinks about a time when he might break up and not be by her side, she’s so scared her feet freeze. Shin has been silent since she started talking, but now he finally sighs and calls her an idiot. A great big idiot. If she dislikes not being together so much then they should just talk about never breaking up. But it’s more like breaking up is an impossible thing. Was she refusing him for such a worthless reason?

Lin protests that it isn’t worthless, but he states that it is. He reminds her that he said it before but as a childhood friend, no matter what relationship they have, they won’t be able to be together forever. But if she wants to be in the closest place then the right choice is to date as a woman and a man. That’s why, even though a lot of things have happened, he can say that he doesn’t regret confessing to her.

Of course he also doesn’t intend to let her regret it. That’s why the word “if” isn’t going to happen in this lifetime. He doesn’t have any intentions of letting her go, not even a little; from now on or ever. She asks him if that’ll still apply no matter what selfish things she says? He smiles softly at her and tells her that it’s fine. It’s more like he would be troubled if she didn’t request anything from time to time.

He’ll treat her gently only whenever she asks for it. Plus, would she ever be able to say the words “break up” or “broken”? Even though she hates teasing, she still ran away from him. Lin defends herself by saying that Shin was being overbearing. Shin admits that he was, which is why he won’t do it again. Lin admits that when he’s overbearing it’s troubling, but taking a step back is lonely.

Shin tells her that he thought this during lunch, but her requests are too difficult sometimes. When he’s forceful she runs, yet she didn’t like it when he took a step back to pursue her. He doesn’t know what to do. Lin tells him that the distance right now is best. Her heart is racing but she’s also calm. He asks her if she’s trying to keep him half-dead like this. But he confesses with amusement that he doesn’t mind spoiling her.

In exchange, he doesn’t want her to let go and he wants her to stay here where he can hold her hand or embrace her whenever. The night passes slowly as they talk about things and Lin is recalling how the two of them were scolded together. Shin remembers how they ran around searching for it until they were scolded, but in the end they couldn’t find it. It definitely had to have been in the park.

In fact the toy might still be there somewhere. Lin asks him if he’d like to search for it next time. He doesn’t think it’ll be there though since there’s been construction since then. Lin thinks it’d be sad if they lost the toy from the past to construction. His smile soften as he remembers that the toy has a lot of memories. Lin feels like going there again and Shin tells her that it’s close so they can go, plus he can take something along.

Lin is confused by this and asks him what he’s bringing. He tells her firmly that he’s not going to say it just yet. Then he notices that it’s almost 12AM. He forgot the time but he’s going home now. Lin frowns and asks him quietly if he’s returning already, but he points out that of course he is because it’s 12 at night. She asks him if he won’t stay just a bit longer. He sighs and tells her that she’s not a child and so she needs to be reasonable.

Shin adds that he fulfilled a lot of her selfish wishes today as according to the promise. But after it passes twelve, her wishes will be null. Lin points out that there’s still 5 minutes until 12. He lightly calls her a spoiled brat. She explains that he’s being so gentle today she doesn’t want to part with him. Shin is silent with a blush before he murmurs her name. In the next instant he kisses her and apologizes, but he couldn’t hold back.

Then he apologizes for not being able to be gentle for 5 more minutes. He releases her lips softly and then brings up the conversation they had a while ago. When she looks confused he reminds her they talked about how the label boyfriend felt unimportant. If she’s that unhappy with him being just her boyfriend, then how does she feel about a betrothal. He doesn’t know her criteria but the label “fiance” shouldn’t be unimportant.

He reassures her that of course until they are engaged, he still doesn’t intend to break up with her. He also warns her that if she nods then she needs to be prepared for what will follow. Lin splutters at that and he laughs brightly at her expression. He asks her what is with that because she was the one who boldly said she wanted to be together forever. So why is she so flustered now?

Lin blurts out that anyone would be confused with such a sudden proposal. He teases her about how she’s the one who proposed to him first. She defends herself by saying that was when they were children. She asks him if he didn’t react like that. He corrects her to say that he was actually fine with being asked the same thing she was now. In fact, he immediately nodded. Anyway, Shin brings the conversation back around and asks her which she prefers.

The label of childhood friend, boyfriend, or fiance? Lin murmurs that asking her this is unfair. He shrugs and points out that no matter how he asks her, the answer would be as long as they were together, right? She notes that he has a lot of confidence. He replies that it would be a problem if her significant other didn’t have this much confidence. She tells him that he doesn’t need to have that much faith in himself then.

Because no matter what happens, she’ll choose Shin. He asks her softly if he can accept this as her answer to the previous question. She nods slowly and tells him that she’s happy he asked her and thanks him. She looks forward to being with him. He laughs quietly at her indirect answer. Then she asks him to kiss her again. He assents huskily and kisses her again.

When they part she confesses that she doesn’t dislike it. When he asks her what, she explains that the kiss right now wasn’t painful at all because he was gentle. He laughs softly and asks if that is why she asked for one more. She nods and admits that

Page 46: Amnesia Later Shin

this is the first time she wanted another one. Shin doesn’t know how to feel about hearing that this is her first time, but what was different about this kiss from before?

Lin suggests the speed of it. Up until now, Shin’s kisses have been intense and forceful that she couldn’t follow along and it hurt. But these slow and gentle kisses make her extremely happy. Shin asks her if that means he should have taken it calmly. The solution was that simple? She thinks that might have been it. He sighs and tells her that she should have said it earlier. He was holding himself back so much because he thought kisses weren’t allowed.

How idiotic. She apologizes with a stutter, but then Shin confirms with her lowly that as long as he goes slow then she’s fine? She quietly nods that as long as it’s slow. He asks her if a lot is fine. She answers that she doesn’t know about that yet. Shin tells her that he’s going to kiss her again then.

11月5日. Lin and Shin are at the park and she’s quizzing him on English words, such as what one calls making something one’s own. The answer is adopt. What does it mean to depend on someone. The answer is rely. She flips the page and finds a difficult one. What does one call a narrow view? The answer is prejudice and Shin also offers to spell it. Lin announces that he’s correct glumly and Shin asks her why she’s so offended at him being right. She admits that it’s a bit annoying. He asks her why this has become a match, because he’s just studying. The way he’s studying is also not strange, because they normally do this with her explaining the meaning and him giving the answer in English. She points out that last time they did this he substituted the answer by saying that his pronunciation was bad. Shin averts his eyes as he recalls this.

He notes that her annoyance is unreasonable though, because what will she do if there’s an English song? Even if she sings well, it’d be a kill-joy if the pronunciation is not there. Then he asks if she even understands the meaning of the English lyrics. Those are important as well. She promises to study hard and he compliments her readiness but thinks it’ll take another year. She slyly points out that his English is excellent.

But Shin tells her flatly that he’ll say it now, but he won’t teach her. She needs to put the effort in herself or else she won’t properly learn it. She pouts at that but then he smiles and tells her to rely on him if she really can’t do it. He can help her with pronunciation at the least. She tells him happily that she’ll work hard then. He reminds her firmly that he won’t teach her anything else.

He also thinks she knows already but he won’t be gentle. Lin promises to put as much effort in as she can. He nods but also reminds her not to overwork herself. Then he suggests taking a break since they ended the paragraph. He’s also a bit hungry and so they should buy something. After a while, Lin asks him why they came here today. Putting her aside for now, it’s unusual for Shin to suggest going to the park.

Shin is always spontaneous but today he seems restless to her. Is there a reason for that? Shin tells her that there is no reason, it’s just that the weather is nice. She looks at him suspiciously but he asserts that there’s nothing else. Lin points out that his way of talking definitely makes that a lie. Shin is silent before he tells her tiredly that even he has a timing for some things.

But it can’t be helped to say that to her who doesn’t know anything. He has something to tell her today, which is why he brought her along. She looks at him in confusion and he explains that he has something to tell her that he can only say here. She repeats his words quietly but then Shin starts to talk. He recalls that when they were children, she proposed here to him and Toma. The time they promised to marry her after accidentally brushing her aside.

Page 47: Amnesia Later Shin

Shin’s voice softens as he admits he remembers her words from that time well. Does she remember? Lin recalls how she asked child!Shin if he’d marry her. He easily replied that he would because he liked her the most. Child!Lin thanks him and answers back that she loves him too. They promise to remain together forever. Back in the present, Lin tells him that of course she’d remember that.

He becomes serious as he tells her that he thought he should properly fulfill the promise they made that day. This is why he brought her here today. He smiles and asks her to give him her hand. Lin’s eyes widen in shock as she sees the ring he has. He laughingly points out that they aren’t children anymore and so he can’t give her a flower ring. When she asks him how he got this he replies that he bought it.

She gasps but then he tells her that it’s a lie. It sounds uncool but he isn’t that resourceful yet. This is his mother’s ring, but she gave it to him to use as an engagement ring. Lin asks him if he told his mother about the engagement and he laughs before asking her if she thinks he could do that. But he actually was given this ring even before this conversation. His mother gave it to him on the morning they went to the zoo.

Lin realizes that this is why he was a bit strange that day. He shrugs and admits he was a bit disturbed, enough that even someone as oblivious as her noticed it. When his mother gave him this she told him that sooner or later Lin would be his wife and so he should treasure this. It was a strange talk. He himself who desperately hated to be a childhood friend. His mother was already treating Lin like a daughter-in-law.

When he noticed it at that time, the person who became the most obsessed over the word “childhood friend” might have been him. But it seems she was also fussy about that label over a different meaning. She points out that of course she’d be fussy about that since they were like this for 10+ years. He laughs before agreeing. But then his voice lowers as he tells her that they’ll stop that now though.

After he becomes her fiance he will do much more bold things. This is that kind of decision. At that time they had no idea what being married meant and their love had also been different. But the fact that he loves her more than anyone else and wants to be together forever hasn’t changed a bit. He’ll vow to her that those feelings will never change from now on. He tells her 「リン

。昔も今も、オレはおまえが好きだ」(Lin. In the past and in the present, I love you). He thinks there will definitely be times when he’s not very gentle or when he wounds her with his harsh words. But in the next instant, he will definitely work to the point of death to make her happy. He, who chose her as the most important person to him,

Page 48: Amnesia Later Shin

will absolutely make her happy. He asks her to marry him. Lin continues to stare at the ring in silence and he’s silent too before he finally glares at her and asks her to say something.

Shin is already feeling at his limits and if she continues to remain silent then it’ll be a problem. Lin gasps out that she can’t find anything to say. He tells her that nodding is fine then. He doesn’t need her to put on airs because he won’t either. If she is also thinking about spending one lifetime together with him then she only needs to say one word: Yes.

Lin is silent before she quietly tells him that she will. He sighs explosively and laughs at how he knew her answer yet he was still nervous. This was bad for his heart. Lin giggles before admitting that she was nervous too. Shin tells her softly that he loves her to the point where he can’t help it. She replies that she loves him as well and these feelings won’t ever change.

Epilogue! Sawa is gushing over the rumored engagement ring. Mine is in awe at how genuine and expensive it looks. Sawa recalls how Shin’s mother was the one who turned it over to Shin. How beautiful! Mine is amazed at how Shin proposed at that age because it means he had that determination. But she’s also in awe at how amazing Lin is for accepting it. She had no hesitation? Lin tells them that she has none.

But this firmness just awes Mine more. Lin explains that it’s because she couldn’t imagine a future where Shin wasn’t by her side. Even if he didn’t promise right now, she thinks it would have came one day. This conversation would have just happened in the future. Sawa asks Lin if she loves Shin that much. Lin nods and tells them that she loves Shin to the point where words can’t express it.

This just makes Sawa teasingly ask Shin if he’s so happy he can die. Lin turns around in surprise to see Shin glaring away with a light blush. He asks her grumpily what she’s been saying in front of people. She asks him in surprise what he’s doing here and he tells her that he has business with her so he came. He was going to call her from the outside but Waka saw him and ushered him in.

And then he heard her say something stupid. Sawa just laughs because she knows he’s actually happy. Shin snaps out that she’s being noisy. Anyway, he tells Lin that he came to return her gloves because she forgot them in his room yesterday. He reminds her firmly to use them so she doesn’t get cold because her hands are always cool. Mine giggles out that Lin’s cold hands will get warmed up by Shin’s heat.

Shin closes his eyes in frustration before mumbling that Mine is also annoying. Lin thanks him before asking if he went out of his way from prep school to give this to her. If it hadn’t then it’d be a problem for him, but it was along the way. Sawa slyly tells Shin that he just wanted to see Lin’s face. Shin coolly shrugs and tells them that yesterday he saw Lin’s face enough.

Mine comments on how she can’t tell if he’s complimenting Lin or hiding his embarrassment. Sawa thinks it’s both. Shin ignores them and tells Lin that he’s given her it now and so he’ll leave. The cafe is about to open anyway. Before he leaves he also tells her not to make any mistakes. Lin tells him to wait though because she’ll see him out.

Mine and Sawa watch them both leave before Mine comments on how they’re really close that they seem like newlyweds. Sawa shrugs and points out that as long as they’re happy. Back to the couple, Lin asks Shin worriedly if he’s alright with time and if he won’t be late. Shin tells her that he isn’t her and so it’s fine because he left the house early. She asks him what time he’ll be back by.

He reminds her that he’ll be back around 7PM. Lin decides that she’ll be at his house after work then and she’ll have dinner waiting for him. He chides her and tells her not to spoil his mother too much because lately she’s been constantly making meals. Lin reassures him that she likes making them and his mother also enjoys her meals. Lin is happy when everyone eats together.

Shin relents at that but tells her not to overdo it when her own school starts. Then he tells her that he has to go to prep school now. Lin smiles and wishes him goodbye with the cafe slogan. He narrows his eyes at her and she apologizes in embarrassment because it came out as a habit. He tells her to give him a break and asks if she’s stupid. If she’s going to say it then she should say it normally.

She repeats his words in confusion, but he firmly tells her to say it normally. She wishes him a safe trip and then he tells her to say it again, but properly. She wishes him goodbye and uses his name. He smiles back softly before telling her that he’ll be going.

“”I WANTED TO SLAM MY PSP IN ORDER TO KNOCK SENSE INTO THE HEROINE. OR KNOCK MYSELF OUT. BOTH. I DON’T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS. AND BY THE WAY I’M STILL ALIVE!”" Gosh… I just love the way you phrased that annoying fact! :P

Hahaha, omg re-reading that makes me so embarrassed because I was so full of rage at the end of this. In fact I was tempted to put a huge wall of these (╯ಠ益ಠ)╯〃 ┻━┻ . But… yeah… poor poor Shin :( why did the heroine just become this huge

derp in his route when in Toma and Ikki’s route she was crazy about them as much as they were about her.

I mean, I guess she loves Shin so much that her heart pounds so badly she can’t do anything with him but STILL… STILL..

…I’ve been putting off Shin’s route for almost a year now because I heard it was terrible. Then I saw you posted up a summary and my curiosity got the better of me. And gosh, I’m really disappointed.

(How could they do this to baby Shin? /o\ Does the writer have some grudge against him? /o\ Why did he get stuck with a childish form of the heroine? /o\ Oh my god, was this supposed to be a portrayal of the older woman/younger man relationship because they didn’t even try gjaisogjag /o\ Why /o\ Doushite /o\ Did they mean to show how loyal and in love Shin is with her? /o\) is what I kept thinking ahjaoisjahsah I’m not even sure if I want to bother, even though the completionist in me is raging and aching to finish it. Shin, you should have just broken up with her permanently ;___; YOU DIDN’T DESERVE THAT EVEN THOUGH YOU ALSO ACTED LIKE AN IDIOT AT TIMES AOGAOIHJAH

/saw your ayato post 8D; picking dialovers was a good choice

I feel like I’ve put Shin off for just as long! I kept on hearing horror stories from my friends who’ve already played him and it just made me more and more reluctant.. but it’s my creed to finish a game I’ve started.. so I had no choice.

Sometimes I feel like Shin gets all the best and all the horrible ones. He had so many kisses in the original game and then they gave him a weirdly lackluster ending with him being embarrassed to hold hands. THAT WAS SO WEIRD TO ME!

A thing I always liked about Shin was that even though he was younger than the heroine he was more mature and aggressive agjkhg so I guess it makes sense that once again he’s the pursuer and she’s the reluctant one in his FD but… yeah… no….. this was so awful for him. I spent the entire time going “YOU ARE A SAINT SHIN. A SAINT”.

GJAKGJHGH YOU’RE EVA, THE ONE WHO REQUESTED DIALOV RIGHT?! (>人<;) I’m so so sorry for being like.. super slow at reviewing all the routes BUT I definitely assure you that I haven’t forgotten and will fulfill it! I’ve just been so absorbed by Hana Awase that I just had to get it out first but I’ll definitely return to DiaLov after akgjhgjh _(:3」∠)_.

DESHOU!? Like when you compare this to Ikki and Toma’s route, it’s like “what the heck happened. Why did the heroine regress to like 7 years old. What. What. WHAT”. I already reviewed Ikki’s route if you want to take a look at that and don’t worry, she didn’t mess his up at all! In fact, I loved his route but then again I’m biased because he’s my favorite as well, haha.

Yep, I’m still doing Diabolik Lovers. Just…. really slowly. But now that my first semester is ending and I’ll be on winter break I should imagine that my playing speed will be picking up!
