Ron Arad makes very interesting yet practical and efficient designs.

His designs are cool and stylish. The materials and textures he uses look organic but at the same time very simple and original.

I like the shower which rotates to become a bath tub, consuming less space. But what really caught my eye were the differently designed bookshelves, their capacity is very large and they consume lesser space on the wall.

The jewellery designed by Michael Peckitt is usually in an abstract style. He gives the jewellery a metallic and a glassy look which makes them stand out before the other, normal jewellery.

The jewellery also has a particular ‘liquidy’ look; it looks as though the bracelets are filled with a dyed fluid.

They are all hand made and I find that there is a different beauty in each and everyone of them.

They mostly consist of bright and bold colours with the use of both complementary and supplementary combinations.I think his designs resemble the jewellery made in Murano.

Alessi is a creative designer who designs user friendly and easy to use products. The products are attractive and colourful, hence appealing to young children.

What separates them from the usual everyday products is the originality and the thought that went into it.

The eating bowl on the right is one of the examples of Alessi’s designs. The bowl has a useful and a practical purpose and at the same time engages the young child who might be eating from it.

Orla Kiely’s designs are mostly based on nature. They are very simple with the use of only a few colours and patterns.

The bag uses bright and complementary colours but a simple pattern. The complementary colours stand out, making it attractive.

The cushion has a very simple yet effective design. It uses clear shapes and figures, the pattern is white with a green background.

I like the chair and the tall stool, their originality is striking. The phone has a suitable shape for its purpose, it fits well into the palm.

Philippe Starck’s designs are very original and unique. The use of shape is interesting in these designs.

The black chair on the right has a unique style, it looks interesting. Although it seems slightly dangerous and playful, it is very comfy and suitable for its purpose.

Robert Sabuda creates objects with a 3D effect within cards and children’s books.

He creates the pictures and the scenes with a certain ‘realisticness’ in them. That makes the children interested in buying and therefore reading the book.

I especially like the white castle above, it is 3D and foldable within the card. It is extremely detailed yet simple.

Tord Boontje uses flowery patterns and ‘naturistic’ patterns. His designs are usually placed upon crockery and utensils. Sometimes they are used in wall papers in rooms.

I like that he usually uses a dark colour with white as its background. That makes the intricate pattern stand out and show off its detailed design.

Sometimes he shifts away from his usual colour combination and does the background darker while his patterns are white. Due to this, the crockery stands out and looks attractive and different.

Cappuci’s designs are quite unusual sometimes. The dresses usually have some kind of 3D effect, designs of other cloth are added to the main body.

I like the jumper for its unique and interesting style. I especially like the red dress that is shaped like the fan and also the multicoloured-black dress which has an unusual frilly and papery effect. He uses bright

colours and contrasts to make the dresses more attractive.

Both complementary and Supplementary combinations are used.

Zaha Hadid’s architecture is amazing. All of her designs are original and unique. She uses basic shapes and techniques to create something very better altogether.

I liked the port she designed where a basic shape of a ship sits on the building. This is extremely practical and simple but hard to think of.

Who knew adding such basic shapes into your designs can make them magnificent!

Thomas Heatherwick designs products that easily fit into the environment they are made for. His designs are practical and at the same time interesting, funky and unique.

He designs products that consume lesser space than their usual kind, that are more interesting. Heatherwick’s designs are purely original, the originality strikes on the surface of the products.

I especially like the bridge which forms a complete circle when not drawn and the café on the beach which totally fits into the setting and the environment.
