Admission criteria (1st year):

Through JEXPO conducted by WBSCT&VE&SD.

Criteria: Passed in Madhyamik or equivalent Xth standard examination (with English,

Physical Science/Science & Mathematics) with minimum 35 % marks in aggregate.

Appeared candidates are also eligible to apply.

Age: Not less than 15 years as on 1st July of the year of examination.

Admission criteria (2nd year) voclet :

Through VOCLET conducted by WBSCT&VE&SD.

Criteria: Must have passed or appeared the (10+2) Examination of the West Bengal

State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (Vocational

Educaiton Division) [erstwhile, West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education &

Training] or having passed 2 years’ ITI plus Madhyamik or equivalent examination

passed. Appeared ITI candidates are not eligible for VOCLET. ITI trades must be of

continuous 2 years duration and a single certificate should mention that. Candidates

having passed vocational course from Councils/Boards other than WBSCT&VE&SD (VED)

[erstwhile, WBSCVE&T] are not eligible.

Age: No age criteria.

Admission is entirely through centralized counseling process of WBSCT&VE&SD depending on

the rank obtained in JEXPO & VOCLET.

Classroom: Spacious, well ventilated, well-lit class rooms are available for all

departments.

Smart Classrooms: Two state-of-the art smart classrooms are available with Audio-

Visual teaching facilities.

Library: Our library is equipped with with around 7000 books of different titles and

authors with required journals sufficing the student strength.

Laboratory: All Departments (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical

Engineering) are well equipped with modern Laboratories for Practical Classes with

sufficient machines, equipments, Computers and work equipments. Physics and

Chemistry labs are also available and equipped with all academic apparatus and

chemicals for first year students.

Computer Laboratory: State of the art Computer Laboratory with nearly 60 computers

are available in the Institute.

Language Laboratory: A spacious air-conditioned language laboratory is available in

which Govt. has sanctioned fund for installation of equipments, computers and

accessories.

Seminar Room: Seminar hall of more than 100 capacity is available with projectors and

sound system.

Workshops: Workshops building is equipped with all machines and equipments as per

academic requirement.

Hostel: Govt. of West Bengal (PWD) is in process of building a Hostel for boys (100 seat

capacity) within the campus adjacent with play ground.

This is with reference to Affidavit/Undertaking submitted by chief secretary/Principal Secretary/Secretary/DTE of concerned State

Government.

In pursuance of the policy initiatives of the Central Govt. and MHRD, Govt. of India for promotion of technical education in unserved/under-served districts across the country vide letter no F.No. 1-26/2011-TSII dated 29.07.2011 & F. No. 1-26/2011-TSII dated 15/3/2013 informing the Council that partial financial assistance had been released to State government in case of 374 polytechnics intending to start from their temporary / permanent campuses or mentor institutions (as the case may be), and further directing AICTE to consider such cases for approval, the Executive Council in its 98th Meeting held on 7-4-2016 vide item no. 98.03.12 resolved to process all such applications by way of obtaining and undertaking/affidavit from the respective State Governments to shift the polytechnics from mentor institutes after 2 years to a permanent location. The council shall conduct EVC tothe Institute MEDINIPUR SADAR GOVT. The polytechnics under Educationally Backward Districts of MHRD, shall fulfill the following general conditions:

1. It would run only the approved courses

2. The Approval is valid for only government polytechnics being set by State Government under F.No. 1-26/2011-TSII dated29.07.2011 & F. No. 1-26/2011-TSII dated 15/3/2013.

3. Those running in the Temporary location / mentor institute will shift to permanent location within two years.

4. The admission shall be made strictly as per the course intake approved by the AICTE

5. The admissions shall be made in accordance with the regulations notified by the Council from time to time.

6. The curriculum of the course, the procedure for evaluation / assessment of students shall be in accordance with thenorms prescribed by the AICTE and concerned affiliating university / state technical board where-ever applicable.

7. The management of the Institution shall not close the Institution or the institution shall not discontinue any course(s) orstart any new course(s) or alter intake capacity of seats without prior approval of the Council.

8. No excess admission shall be made by the Institution over and above the approved intake under any circumstances. Incase any excess admission is reported to the Council, appropriate action as per the notified regulations shall be initiatedagainst the Institution.

9. The institutions shall not have any collaborative arrangements with any Indian and / or Foreign Universities for conduct oftechnical courses other than those approved by AICTE without obtaining prior approval from AICTE. In case any violationis reported to the Council, appropriate action as per the notified regulations shall be initiated against the Institution.

10. The Institution shall not conduct any course(s) in the field of technical education in the same premises / campus and / orin the name of the Institution without prior permission / approval of AICTE. If found so, appropriate action as per thenotified regulations shall be initiated against the Institution.

11. The institution shall not conduct any non-technical course (s) in the same premises / campus under any circumstances. Incase any violation is reported to the Council, appropriate action as per the notified regulations shall be initiated againstthe Institution.

12. The institution shall operate only from the approved location. However, it may continue to create its infrastructure, facilitiesand other requirements at its permanent site.

13. The tuition and other fees shall be charged as prescribed by the Competent Authority within the overall criteria prescribedby the Council from time to time.

14. The Institute shall ensure proper utilization of the grant released by the MHRD under the scheme and shall follow therelevant instructions / guidelines issued by the MHRD in this regard and the accounts of the Institution shall be auditedannually as per the government procedure.

15. The Director / Principal and the teaching and other staff shall be appointed in given time frame and selection shall bedone according to procedures, qualifications and experience prescribed by the Council from time to time and pay scalesare as per the norms prescribed by the Council from time to time.






16. The technical institution shall publish an information booklet before commencement of the academic year giving detailsregarding the institution and courses / programs being conducted and details of infrastructural facilities including facultyetc. in the form of mandatory disclosure. The information booklet may be made available to the stakeholders of thetechnical education. The mandatory disclosure information, as per directions in the AICTE website / Approval ProcessHandbook, shall be put on the Institution Website. The information shall be revised every year with updated informationabout all aspects of the institution.

17. It shall be mandatory for the technical institution to maintain a Website providing the prescribed information. The Websiteinformation must be continuously updated as and when changes take place.

18. If a technical Institution fails to disclose the information or suppress and / or misrepresent the information, appropriateaction as per the notified regulations shall be initiated against the Institution.

19. AICTE may also conduct inspections with or without notifying the dates to verify specific complaints, to verify adherenceto AICTE norms & standards, and to verify any mis-representation, violation of norms & standards, mal-practices etc.

20. The Institution by virtue of the approval given by Council shall not automatically become claimant to any grant-in-aid fromthe Central or State Government.

21. In the event of a student / candidate withdrawing before the starting of the course, the wait listed candidates should begiven admission against the vacant seat. The entire fee collected from the student, after a deduction of the processing feeof not more than Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) shall be refunded and returned by the Institution / University tothe student / candidate withdrawing from the program. It would not be permissible for Institutions and Universities to retainthe School / Institution Leaving Certificates in original to force retention of admitted students.

22. The Institute shall take appropriate measures for prevention of ragging in any form, in the light of AICTE regulation"Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Technical Institutions, Universities including Deemed to Universities impartingtechnical education" Regulation 2009 (F.No. 37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009 dated 01/07/2009). In case of failure to prevent theinstances of ragging by the Institutions, the Council shall take appropriate action as per the notified regulations.

The Institute shall strictly follow further conditions as may be specified by the Council from time to time. The Council maywithdraw the approval,in case it observes any violation of the above conditions and / or non adherence to the noms andstandards prescribed by the Council, mis-representation of facts and submitting factually in correct information to it.
