agriculture Agriculture Sciences • Animal Science major • Plant and Soil major

If you’re ready to get started on your future in agriculture, Lethbridge College is the best place to be.

Our Cousins Science Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2007 and has been refurbished with research-grade

equipment that will get you trained on industry-preferred equipment. Our instructors offer the kind of individual attention you’ll be

hard-pressed to find in a larger centre. You won’t be a face in the crowd, the instructors will know your name, and you’ll receive the

kind of help you need to succeed. And you’ll get to work with a wide variety of different producers, from the small specialty farmer to

the large commercial operation, all of whom can give you insights into what it really takes to flourish in this important industry.

In addition, our practical, two-year diploma costs less than a university degree but has the same value as two years of post-

secondary study elsewhere. We have great transfer agreements in place with many other degree-granting institutions if you’d like to

continue your studies, but by the time you graduate, you’ll have the classroom theory and hands-on experience that employers value.

The practical training you’ll receive on our campus and with our regional training

partners means you’ll be a welcome addition to any workplace – because you’ll

be equipped with experience and ready to go on day one. Welcome to your

future in the agricultural industry. It can all start at Lethbridge College.

agriculture sciences

Agriculture Sciences • two-year diploma (second-year majors in Animal Science or Plant and Soil Science)

• September or January admission

When you study Agriculture Sciences at Lethbridge College, your classroom will be

the plant lab, the soils lab, the computer lab and the barn. You’ll tour the operations

of some of the most progressive producers in the region, from feedlots to dairies to hog barns

to the latest crops grown for bio-medical purposes. And you’ll work with instructors who have

experience doing the kind of work you want to do – and who are great teachers as well.

In addition to learning about Alberta’s exceptional agricultural operations, you’ll quickly see that

the diversity in this industry doesn’t end at the farm gate. Value added businesses are created

here, food is processed here, equipment is sold and serviced here, and agricultural operations

are financed here. It’s an ideal place to be for this business.

So what are you waiting for? Your future in the agriculture industry is waiting for

you at Lethbridge College.

Future Focus: Thanks to the generosity of Cor Van Raay, a new program called the Cor Van Raay Southern Alberta Agribusiness Program will be offered jointly by Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge. This new program will focus on agriculture-related education opportunities in the areas of ag-economics, business development, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, commodity and futures trading, and on general management and leadership with a focus on agricultural innovation.

Program at a glance:

“I chose Lethbridge College because the college gave me the hands-on experience to help me with what I do now. I left there with an overview of the grain industry, livestock, sheep, cattle, hogs, everything. And that’s helped me out a lot.”
