The DBB expanding Plug valve isnon-lubricated bubble tight plug valve, commonly used for critical services where tight-shut-off (0 leakage)is required. True Double Isolation is a mandatoryrequirement in the industrial sector (Refinery, Oil & Gas and Petrochemical plants) to guarantee the safety of theoperators ensuring tight sealing upstream/downstream of the valve. True DBB feature is obtained/granted by two metal slips sliding on the tapered plug guaranteeing both upstream anddownstream tightshut-off sealing.During opening operation the plug is lifted up, allowing to the sliding slips to retract preserving the integrity of the soft seals and reducing to the minimum the operating torque.Viceversa, duringclosing operation, the tapered plug is driven down into the body only after thecompletion of its quarter turn rotation, expanding the slips against valve body.The soft seals (usually in NBR or FKMmaterial) arepermanently fixed on the two slips by means of vulcanization processto avoid extrusion, disbonding and wear of the same during service and operations.DBB valve are one of the most easilymaintainable valve in the market: slips
with soft seals can be replaced without dismantling the valve from the line. Slips are bottom entry: no need to remove stem, joke and valve operator (handwheel, gear or actuator).A manual bleed valve is connected with the cavity of valve body and is opened after the Dual Seal is closed and tight shut off of the valve can be checked immediately.The bleed valve must
be kept closed before the Dual seal valve is re-opened. When the Dual seal valve is in liquid service, a thermal pressure relief device must be considered, due to the thermal expansion of the fluid in the body cavity of the valve. The standard relief valve is mounted in the upper relief cavity of valve body, releasing the excess of overpressure to theupstream throat of the valve, only when the
valve is in closedposition. One of the main application of DBB expanding plug valve is for calibration(proving) of flow-meterinstrument on line, where 0” leakageallows the operator to set-up the instrument (flow-meter) without any risk of error in measurement system of flow rate from well heads throughflow-lines, gathering lines and high pressure transmission system in gas pipelines or in Petrochemical plants or other processing.DBB dual seal plug valve can be also used in other typical applications:• Tank Storage• Well Head Manifolds• Off Shore Platforms• Gasoline• Kerosene.• Aviation Fuel Service• Diesel• LPG • Natural Gas (Pipelines)• Crude Oil (Pipelines)
