4 WAY TEST - Unique Midtown way!!! In my two years of Rotary , I have seen Rotarians emphasizing of 4 way

test and its importance, but @ EHACK- Rtn. Raghu & Chandrika Mami tried to co-relate 4 WAY TEST with every aspect / every situation of our life . The examples of advertisement of Fair & Lovely , Situation in Uttarakhand and many other real life situation . These questions made all the participants in

Ehack to get involved and interact, as these situations were real and they would have to deal with them on daily basis. The students were given a new angle to think about, Raghu Mama and Chandrika Mami have really given the due respects and made people think of 4 way test in every situation . As we have joined Rotary believing it's ideals, the 4 Way Test is “THE MANTRA” which we as Rotarians need to imbibe and spread the same to everyone we are in touch with. Thanks Raghu mam and Chandrika mami for shaking us up and reminding that we need to be better “HUMAN BEINGS”. - Rtn. Raju Baliga

After a flurry of installations Midtowners

gathered at RCL for the first time in the current

Rotary year. The first official meeting of “Hogirana”

was slated to share information on the ambitious

project of Midtown. After the meeting was called to

order by Vice-President Rtn.Harish, Rtn.Narendra N

took charge of the proceedings. He recognized the

contributions of many Midtowners before

displaying a series of videos inspiring members to

contribute. He informed the members the series of

these heart touching videos will continue. He then

shared the details of Midtowns mega project

“Hongirana”, a project which would enable sight. He

explained the background of the concept which was

radical and is catching up fast. The pioneer of the

concept Dr.Humayun has come out with a new way

of enabling vision to millions. Rtn.Narendra who is a

member of USC Vitterbi (University of Southern

California) is working in getting Dr.Humayun to visit

Mysore. The core committee headed by

Rtn.Sulaiman would include Rtn.Dr.Ravindranath,

Rtn.Dr.Prahlad, Rtn.Bhanuchandran, Rtn.Ramki and

Rtn.Narendra.Birthday boys Rtn.Narendra Babu & Rtn. Dr.

Raghu got a birthday song from the delighted

Midtowners and had to cut the cake sans candles.

Rtn.Narendra Babu hosted the evenings tea which

included delectable 'benne dosa' with damroot. Two “tall” personalities of Midtown Rtn.Harish

and Rtn.Dr.Prahlad chaired the meeting, Rtn.Harish

gave a glimpse of how he would appear when he

would lead the club. (@Rtn.Raghavendra – During

Charter night , you had visualized Rtn.Harish as

President, your wish seems to have come true too

soon, keep wishing and we could have Harish as

“Full time” President soon. Amen)

Meeting on Hongirana

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him

that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had

driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number

of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper

than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the

father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “you have done well, my son,

but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they

leave a scar just like this one.” You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many

times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. Make sure you control your temper the next time you

are tempted to say something you will regret later.- Author Unknown

PRACTICAL INNOVATIONKite Patch Hides Humans from Mosquitoes : The Kite Patch offers an

alternative to toxic sprays, and a new way to fight the spread of diseases, by using a blend of ingredients that make humans invisible to mosquitoes.

The device, which has already far surpassed its funding goal on Indiegogo, is a disposable square only 1.5 inches on each side and is meant to be worn on the clothing. The patch is embedded with a proprietary blend of non-toxic, FDA approved compounds that disrupt the mosquitoes' ability to track humans through exhaled carbon dioxide. Each patch provides 48 hours of protection once it has been exposed to the air. The team developed the patch with the intention of helping stop the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in remote areas, and pledge money is being used to send the patches to families in Uganda.
