The Brothers Grimm present:

Page 2: A Fairy Talley

Once upon a time, in a small Kiwi town, there was a happy family of business folk called the Talleys.

Page 3: A Fairy Talley

The Talley family had some spare cash ($300 million) so they decided to buy a meatworks company, called AFFCO.

Page 4: A Fairy Talley

AFFCO was also full of happy families from small towns who had worked for it for any years in good secure jobs. The

small Kiwi towns and the families relied on these jobs to bring up their kids.

Page 5: A Fairy Talley

But once Talleys bought AFFCO, the AFFCO families found life was a lot tougher. The Talleys wanted them to

work harder. They wanted to be able to but the workers’ wages whenever they wanted. They wanted to turn good steady family jobs into insecure casual come-and-go jobs.

Page 6: A Fairy Talley

The workers did like these changes so the Talleys told a thousand workers they could not come to work, and they would

not be paid until they agreed to what Talley’s demanded.

Meatworks should provide the sort of steady safe jobs where workers in small towns can afford to raise a

family and still have time to spend with their family. Yet, many of them cannot afford the lamb they themselves process.

Luckily, that is not the end of the story.

We still want a ‘happily ever after’. But for that to happen, we need your help. Call 0900 LOCKOUT or visit HelpTalleysAFFCOWorkers.com to find out how you can help.

So when you’re buying your next meal, make sure you think of the workers who bring you that food.
