History of Q ueen SirikitHer Majesty Queen Sirikit is the daughter of His Highness Prince

Chandaburi Suranath (Mom Chao Nakkhatra Mangkala Kitiyakara) andMom Luang Bua Kitiyakara (nee Mom Luang Bua Snidwongse).She was bornon August 12, 1932. She attended kindergarten class at Rajini School, butsubsequently went to St. Francis Xavier convent school at Samsen District inBangkok. Her father later on became Thai Minister to France, then toDenmark and, ultimately, Ambassador to the Court of St. James in England.Her Majesty accompanied him and continued her general education in thethree countries and lastly in Switzerland.It was while her father wasstationed in Paris that she first met His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej,who was then studying in Switzerland but went now and then to Paris. Thechance meeting in Paris ripened into friendship and understanding. WhenHis Majesty met with a very serious motor accident in Geneva, Switzerland,and had to stay in a hospital at Lausanne, Her Majesty was a frequentvisitor. When His Majesty was well again and left the hospital, he wasgraciously pleased to arrange for Her Majesty to continue her studies atRiante Rive, a boarding school in Lausanne. On July 19, 1949, TheirMajesties were quietly engaged in Lausanne. On March 24, 1950, TheirMajesties landed in Bangkok by ship after a long absence. On April 28 of thesame year, the royal wedding took place at Pathumwan Palace.

Manyagencies have been trying to set up another date. But itwas not successful enough. And changed the dateseveral times. Later date is approved by the governmenton 15 April by starting from the year 2493, but had tostop again a few years later. The Ministry of Culturehas been disbanded. As a result, the National CulturalCouncil, which commissioned the Mother's Day eventsponsors.

The Catholic Teachers Association of Thailand.Mother's Day, the event again on 4 October 2515, buthas held only one year only. Until the year 2519 theBoard of Directors of the Council on Social Welfare ofThailand Nationals. Has set a new date for the exactdate. Day by taking his royal birthday of Her MajestyQueen Sirikit. August 12 is the day the Queen Mother.
