She was built to Lloyds by Whangarei Engineering, New Zealand in October 1977 and has always been well maintained. The two main engines are Mirrless Blackstone ECSL8M turbo diesel engines which each develop 745 Kw at 1000 rpm. These drive forward to a pair of Schottel SRP 501/500 Z-Peller azimuth drive units that are electrically controlled. The main engines are air start and are monitored from control panels which are mounted on the main engines There are two JW 6 MA Lister auxiliary engines, coupled to 70 Kw alternators to supply ships electrical power. Two fire pumps are driven off a PTO on the port main engine. The engine room also houses the Hamworthy Trident sewerage treatment plant, Air start compressors and receivers, and all the ships electric pumps. A small single cylinder Petter diesel engine located in the forepeak drives an emergency fire pump. Fuel is carried in 4 tanks with a total capacity of 38.67 tonne. Fuel consumption is approx. 200 Litres/hour coastal steaming and approx. 100Litres/hour for harbour use. The vessel is a 28 tonne bollard pull harbour tractor type tug which features twin forward mounted “Z­Peller” Azimuth propulsion units with a deep aft skeg. Shewas built to Lloyds by Whangarei Engineering, New Zealand in October 1977 and has always been well maintained.

 

The two main engines are Mirrless Blackstone ECSL8M turbo diesel engines which each develop 745 Kw at 1000 rpm. These drive forward to a pair of SchottelSRP 501/500 Z-Peller azimuth drive units that are electrically controlled.

 

The main engines are air start and are monitored from control panels which are mounted on the main engines

 

There are two JW 6 MA Lister auxiliary engines, coupled to 70 Kw alternators to supply ships electrical power.

 

Two fire pumps are driven off a PTO on the port main engine.

 

The engine room also houses the Hamworthy Trident sewerage treatment plant, Air start compressors and receivers, and all the ships electric pumps.

foam monitors fitted on the monkey deck above the bridge deck. Approximately 6m3 of AFFF foam compound is carried in 2 tanks.

 

The wheel house is large and well laid out with good all-round visibility. The tug Master has a central operating seat with azimuth controls each side. There arealso secondary Schottel controls at the aft end of the wheelhouse.

 

Bridge Electronic equipment includes:

1 x Garmin 4017 screen network displaying radar, depth and chart plotting.

2 x Furuno FM 2510 VHF Transceivers

1 x Furuno GP 31 GPS receiver

1 x Motorola M120 Wireless intercom system

1 x Ships intercom

Extra equipment includes

Clock, barometer, Sestral Compass, and wipers on the forward and aft windows.

Two large enclosed panels house AC and DC electrical circuits.

 

The foredeck has a Hydraulic anchor capstan with twin gypsies. Both gypsies’ are loaded with the twin Stockless 275kg anchors on 1 inch stud link chain roads. Onthe aft deck are the hydraulic towing winch and the Knief type tow hook. A vertical capstan winch is also fitted to the port side of the towing winch. Substantialsolid rubber fenders are fitted fore and aft.

 

The forepeak on the lower deck is accessed from the foredeck only and has rope and general stowage and twin chain lockers.

The next area aft is the propeller room which has the twin “Z­drive” units and its associated machinery. Work bench and work shop equipment is also in this area.Access to this area is through a water tight door from the engine. An escape hatch is fitted in the deck head forward.

 

Next area aft is the engine room. This is on two levels with access to this area from doors fore and aft at deck level to a cat walk then stairs down to the lowerdeck.

The twin main engines are centrally mounted with the two power generating plants at the aft outboard end. The main electrical control board is situated at theafter end of the engine room.

 

At the aft end of the lower deck are two cabins, the port cabin with 2 berths and the starboard with 3 berths which are accessed down stairs from the mainaccommodation deck.

The main accommodation deck has the Master’s cabin and Chief engineer’s cabin forward to port with the galley and mess area adjacent. A central passage wayleads aft with access port and starboard to the main deck.

 

Aft of the galley is a washroom with hanging lockers, shower and washbasin. Aft of the washroom are the internal stairs up to the wheelhouse.

 

Further aft through a water tight door is the cat walk over the engine room and then through to another water tight door to a second ablution area to port with asecond head to starboard.

The bridge deck has access out port and starboard and internal access up from the main deck.

The cabins are tidy with Formica panelling and teak joinery and trim. The deck heads are Ceratone type panels.

 

The galley area is spacious and well laid out with a stainless steel sink top and basin and Formica work space. A Zip electric Hot water provides boiling water.

 

Domestic galley equipment includes:

Panasonic Microwave oven

Fisher & Paykel freezer

Elba refrigerator

Cook top with 4 electric hotplates and separate Moffatt oven

Range hood over the cook top.

The mess has a video/cd recorder and a small TV.

A phone/fax is also fitted.

The heads are all porcelain domestic type bowls with gravity flush. Black water is all treated with the onboard treatment plant.

The showers and vanities have pressure hot and cold water.

Electric panel heaters are fitted in all cabins and in the wheelhouse.
