Kindergarten October 23-27 Weekly News This Week’s Focus All About Pumpkins Literacy -Continuing to practice retelling key details -Ask and answer questions about unknown words from a text Writing -Continuing to practice writing all sounds heard in each word of their sentence. -Continuing to practice using proper sentence structure. Math Introducing and learning about 2D shapes -identifying shapes based on their attributes -Continuing to compose and decompose numbers -solving problems using pictures and objects Science/S.S. Investigating and understanding what it means to push and pull Phonics -Recognition of all uppercase & lowercase letters -Practice identifying and producing rhyming words -Identifying the first and last sound heard in a given word -Practice counting the number of syllables heard in a word (Please make sure you are working with your children on these skills every day!) Things to work on at home Tying shoelaces Using KIND words with our peers Writing their name Counting to 20 without any prompts Recognizing numbers 1-20 Recognizing all upper and lowercase letters and their corresponding sounds Sight Words (see our new list!) 10/23 – Scholastic Book Orders Due by 2PM! 10/23 – Field Trip Money Due Today: $12.50 *Don’t forget to send the extra $2 if you have not returned it yet. 10/30 – Pumpkin Patch FIELD TRIP! Upcoming Events REMINDERS: Please check your child’s folder EACH night and initial their behavior calendar. If your child is using a free dress pass on a Friday, they MUST bring the coupon with them to redeem the free dress pass. Don’t forget Field Trip Money is due Monday
