OUR STORYSterling Athletics began its journey back in 1994 when an attorney, Terry Robinson, teamed up with his friend to create a ball company geared towardsupplying custom logo balls to local basketball camps. Terry is the founder of Pro Camps Ltd. and directed several camps for a variety of professionalbasketball players such as Mitch Richmond, Dominique Wilkins, Keith Van Horn, Mike Bibby and Nate McMillan. Disheartened by basketballs purchasedfrom other suppliers, the two men sought a partnership abroad with a ball manufacturer who could create a custom logo basketball program to fit theneeds of Sterling Athletics.

Once the Sterling brand was born, it began its daily operations out of the law office of Robinson and warehousing in the garage at Robinson’s home.The first overseas shipment of merchandise was received in 1994. Ultimately, Sterling Athletics began incorporating all other products that camps required.By 1995, as business and inventory grew, Robinson’s garage became a small remote warehouse in Sumner, Washington. Sterling set forth on a mission tobecome the industry leader in custom sports balls. By the end of 1995, its sales force doubled to two people. For two years sales increased steadily to a point that necessitated hiring a full time graphic artist to create the custom logo designs. In addition to this, Sterling researched and developed relationships to broaden its product portfolio by offering game quality sports balls and custom uniforms. By 1997, Sterling became a distributor for some of the most well-known athletic apparel companies in the United States. By the year 2000, Sterling was supplying team and camp products to over 120 NCAA Division 1 collegeprograms in addition to thousands of high schools.

In January of 2003 Sterling finally moved into its permanent home in Puyallup, Washington that includes a state of the art office space and 40,000 squarefoot warehouse. In 2013, Sterling served over 10,000 customers domestically ranging from churches, high schools, club teams, colleges, retail stores, cardealerships, restaurants, etc. The two current owners are Terry Robinson and Doug Andrews.

Sterling established the Bounce Back Program with the intention to aid children and communities that do not have the ability to obtain sporting goods. In the year 2010 alone, Sterling donated over 10,000 sports balls to children, schools, camps, orphanages and charities. We hope that our donations will help build a team atmosphere and encourage everyone to “pass it on”.

Before Coach Ryan became an endorser of the Sterling brand, he was a loyal customer ordering camp basketballs and apparel as head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. In 1997, Sterling Athletics and Coach Ryan started their strategic alliance with the ultimate goal of offering the highest quality and technologically advanced basketballs in the sporting goods industry.

Coach Ryan has been extraordinarily loyal and passionate about Sterling Athletics over the years and refuses to allow his team to play with any basketballs that do not have the Sterling logo. HEATHER TARRUniversity of WashingtonHead Coach, Women’s SoftballSterling and Coach Heather Tarr have strong roots embedded into the Pacific Northwest soil. They both share a mutual passion of spreading awareness to youth about the game of softball not only in Washington State, but across the country. In 2011, Sterling was fortunate enough to meet Coach Tarr through a mutual friend. Coach Tarr was impressed with Sterling’s vision and the superior quality of Sterling’s softball product line. After speaking to Coach Tarr in-depth, she brought up the idea of increasing Sterling’s softball brand awareness and the awareness of the sport by hosting an annual youth fall league where local clubs would be invited to participate. Sterling ran with this idea, calling it The Twilight Invite. Coach Tarr and Team Sterling teamed up to launch the HT22 game leather for high school teams. In 2004, Coach Tarr became the head coach of the University of Washington women’s softball team at age 29! In the last 10 years, Coach Tarr and company have accomplished a magnitude of milestones including winning the NCAA National Championship in 2009! Coach Tarr is a self-made softballer, a self-made Husky and a self-made coach. This supremely gifted leader walked onto UW’s softball team for coach Teresa Wilson during the program’s infancy in 1994. She then became a 3-time All-Pac-10 player and a professional softball player in Florida for a year. Credit terms will not be extended to any account with a past due balance over 30 days. Past due invoices will be assessed an interest charge of 1.5% per month, 18% annual rate. Should a billing matter be turned over for collection the prevailing party shall be awarded its cost and attorney fees.

WORKING WITH SUPPLIED COMPUTER FILESWhen a customer chooses to supply artwork in the form of a computer file, it must be compatible with our software. We can accept both Windows or Macintosh based artwork. We work solely in Adobe Illustrator, therefore we prefer Adobe Illustrator 9.0 formatted files. If you are sending via this format, the files must be vector based and must be saved as an .EPS file with a preview of “none”. For reference purposes only, we can also read the following file formats: Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, TIF, GIF, JPG, EPS, PDF, and BMP. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us for assistance.

SAMPLESSamples will be invoiced at regular price and full credit will be issued upon receipt of returned merchandise. Customer is responsible for returning samples in original condition.

WARRANTYSterling guarantees all merchandise to be free from manufacturing defects for a pre-dertermined period from date of purchase. Should you discover a defect in workmanship, call for return authorization and instructions. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. All shortages and damaged or defective merchandise must be reported within 15 days from receipt of order to insure that proper credit and/or replacement is issued. Sterling is not responsible for damage or loss during transit.

RETURN POLICYTo return merchandise, contact your Sterling sales representative(1-800-767-1765) for a return authorization number. Please apply this number to the outside of each package to be returned. Returned merchandise may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Special orders, custom merchandise and decorated items are non-returnable. Shipping instructions for returned merchandise will be provided to you with the return authorization number.

CUSTOM SPORTS BALLSAllow standard lead time for design, production and delivery to your location after date of signed confirmation. Expedited orders subject to additional freight and/or delivery costs. We need your PMS Color Numbers or actual color samples, because of the printing process, and the nature of rubber vulcanization, color match will be close but most likely not exact. Use the “UNCOATED” color selector for best color match for rubber, and “COATED” selector for all other materials and for the imprinting.

BACK ORDERSBack ordered items will be shipped when available. All back orders will be shipped F.O.B. shipping point. No deductions are allowed for freight, parcel post, or UPS charges. An order will be partially shipped if at least 50% of the merchandise is available, unless the order specifies “ship complete only” or the customer requests partial shipments. Partial shipments will not be considered a valid reason for return.

DISTRIBUTORS/CONSUMERSDistributors/Consumers are not employees of Sterling Athletics. TheDistributors/Consumers shall not represent itself to be an employee of Sterling Athletics. Distributors/Consumers shall not use Sterling Athletics logos or trademarks in advertising, retail ads displays, literature or e-mail correspondence without written permission of Sterling Athletics.

APPAREL DYE LOT & VARIATIONSColors may vary from piece to piece and Sterling shall have no liability for variations in color, dye lot or shade. Slight variances in color, texture and/or weave may occur. There may also be inherent imperfections in certain fibers or fabrics. None of the foregoing shall be considered defects.
