You Should Know…

More than 2,400 pediatricians and other child health advocates throughout the nation have participated in this program.

Th e conference instills knowledge of the state and federal legislative process, helps participants develop advocacy skills, and introduces strategies and techniques for using the media to advocate.

Many past participants have become eff ective advocates at the national, state, chapter and local levels.

All conference participants will automatically become Key Contacts, a subset of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) members who elect to receive timely legislative updates and requests for action from the AAP Department of Federal Aff airs.

Now in its 24th year, the conference is sponsored by the Academy’s Committee on Federal Government Aff airs and the Committee on State Government Aff airs.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Th e AAP Policy on Disclosure of Financial Relationships and Resolution of Confl icts of Interest is designed to ensure quality, objective, balanced, and scientifi cally rigorous AAP CME activities. All individuals in a position to infl uence and/or control the content of AAP CME activities are required to disclose to the AAP and subsequently to learners that they either have no relevant fi nancial relationships or any fi nancial relationships with the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) and/or provider(s) of commercial services discussed in CME activities. All potential confl icts of interest are identifi ed and resolved prior to an individual’s confi rmation of service at an AAP CME activity. Beyond disclosure of fi nancial relationships, AAP CME faculty are required to disclose to the AAP and to learners when they plan to discuss or demonstrate pharmaceuticals and/or medical devices and/or medical or surgical procedures that involve “off -label” use of a device or pharmaceutical. Th e AAP is committed to providing learners with commercially unbiased CME activities. Th e content of this CME activity does not necessarily refl ect the views or policies of the AAP.
