Class CommentsThere was total unanimity between the judges on the golds, arrived at without discussion. The problem was to sort out the top wine, with wine 30 prevailing over wine 9 by the bearest of margins, leaving wine 20 (which received six gold medals ie unanimous by associates as well) in third place. A challenging vintage mastered by many winemakers, phenolics on the one hand, dilution on the other being the main problems for the non-medal wines.
