And the good news is… the only re-

quirement to receiving from God, is to

be thirsty! You can come to God when

you feel like you have no faith, or when

you are feeling happy and content. All

God requires is a thirsty heart.

Having our needs met is a wonderful

outcome of experiencing the presence

of God, but not the reason for pursuing

it. We have been created to enjoy God,

to delight in Him alone, to seek Him for

Him. Although God loves to meet our

needs, when we focus on Him solely

for that purpose, we are missing out on

God's greatest purpose for our lives -

to be in relationship

with Him. God wants us

to know Him, just like

He knows us - how

amazing is that!

I know that I have been

inspired to pursue God

for Who He is, for that

wonderful relationship

that is totally unique on

earth - between the Heavenly Father

and His child. And my faith has also

risen with it, to expect and enjoy the

wonderful fallout from this relationship

- abundant, overflowing life to meet all

of my needs, and through me, the

needs of the world around me.

Whatever we need we'll find in the

presence of God. This is a truth which

I've known in theory for years, but

which I am still constantly re-learning!

Dave reminded us again last Sunday

ab ou t t h i s ama z in g t ru t h .

Genesis 1:26-28 tells us that God cre-

ated us not because He needed us, but

because it gave Him pleasure. God has

no needs, He is entirely self sufficient in

Himself, and all sufficient for us. He is

constantly giving out of the overflowing

abundance of life that He is.

That means, that no matter what we

need, Jesus really is the an-

swer! That doesn't mean

that we will always get what

we want, but we can trust

that the God who loves us

will never fail to provide. But

it is not enough to simply

acknowledge this truth, we

need to believe it and re-

ceive it again and again. We

can continually be living in

the presence of God, learning to live

with an awareness of Him, "practising"

His glorious, powerful presence.

What are your needs today? Are you

feeling tired and drained of energy? Are

you lonely? Hurting? Anxious? In debt?

In God's presence, we meet Him face to

abundant life to wash over us and bring

“The only

requirement

to receiving

from God,

is to be thirsty!”
