Despite of the mental health care and psychotherapies progress over time, the image of psychiatry remains frozen in the past for a long time. The present time Today, CNP St-Martin totally fits in with modern psychiatry and takes up the challenge of setting up a consistent Mental Health Care system in a close network with the various healthcare workers. In this context, St-Martin Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (HNP) reinforces its collaborations with the psychiatric departments of general hospitals around Namur, the first-line caregivers and various shelter and support structures (drug addiction, intellectual deficiency, etc). HNP also actively takes part to the continuity of care through assisted housing programmes (IHP), psychiatric care houses (especially St-Martin MSP), Mental Health workers, care homes, etc. The future Through this network dynamics, CNP is involved in various innovative projects and confirms its commitment to the future of psychiatry : provi- ding specialised care that suits best to the patient needs. ■ Closed shelter ■ Isolation ■ Prison-like ■ Limited therapies 1901 St-Martin founding by the Brothers of Charity Congregation 1950 ’s Discovery of neuroleptics 1963 Hospital law 1970 Ministry authority transfer 1990 1st reform in psychiatry 2000 2nd refrom in psychiatry 2010 Mental Health care reform 2016 2 wards for young patients - L’Athanor (15 - 20) - Kalamos (18 - 25) ■ First open services creation ■ Psychiatric institutions are treatment places ■ The patient goes back to his family at the end of the treatment ■ Project 107 ■ Adapted care ■ Networking ■ Coherent healthcare circuit ■ Innovative projects ■ Partial hospital bed conversion into psychogeriatric beds ■ Patient reconnects to the world ■ Therapies enriched by psychotherapies ■ Pursuit of the adaptations ■ Rehabilitation of mentally ill patients into active society ■ Setting up of medical care structures for patients at the end of hospital treatment ■ Protected Housing and Psychiatric Care Houses bed conversion Asylum Treatment place Rehabilitation Specialisation Network Psychiatric institutions are under the responsibility of Justice Ministry Psychiatric institutions are under the responsibility of Public Health Ministry History and evolution Rue St-Hubert 84 ■ 5100 Dave (Namur) T. +32(0)81 - 321.200 ■ F. +32(0)81 - 306.479 [email protected] ■ www.cp-st-martin.be Fact sheet St-Martin Neuro-Psychiatric Centre comes under the non-profit association Oeuvres des Frères de la Charité.
