• The heart of God is that of a father. • We will become outstanding leaders

when we first become excellent fathers.• God wants to restore true paternity in

the family through the men, by having them take back their authority as fathers, who build relationships with their children which establishes their family’s destiny.

• A father led by God shows character qualities different from those learned in the world.

• A Merciful Father: Luke 15:20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.” • The father was waiting for you to come

home and take the place as His son.

• Mercy-compassion/forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish/harm

• A person wanting to love others must first receive love from the Father.

• God was pleased by the faith of Abraham and knew that he would raise his children in the fear of God.

• Father’s speak daily blessings over your children.

• An Exemplary Father• 1 Kings 9:4-5 “Now if you walk before

Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’”

• David was known as a man after God’s own heart.

• Psalm 15 is a great description of an exemplary father.

• An Exemplary Father• 1 Kings 9:4-5 “Now if you walk before

about anyone nor accepted gossip about others

• (vs. 4) He kept his word and never took it back

• (vs. 5) He was transparent concerning his finances

• A Substitute Father• Esther 2:11 “And every day

Mordecai paced in front of the court of the women’s quarters, to learn of Esther’s welfare and what was happening to her.”• When Esther became an orphan,

Mordecai, her uncle, cared for her and trained her up as his own daughter. • Like Mordecai, you can be a substitute

father to the fatherless.

• Galatians 6:7-9 “Don't be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he'll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. So let's not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don't give up, or quit. ”

• What you plant today will bring its fruit tomorrow.

Motivate them to be positive people• A positive person is someone that

has learned to speak the Word of God only.

Teach them integrity• Titus 2:7b “Let everything you do

reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.”

Help them spiritually• Motivate them to have a conquering

spirit

• Help Them to Have a Balance Self Image.• Speak words of blessing to them each day.• Honor them for their accomplishments.• Do not embarrass them when things don’t go

as planned.• Help them to see adversity as small steps

toward making them better people.• Help them to see that they are God’s special

treasures.• Help each one of your children to have a

proper self-image.

• Help them to follow rules• They need discipline as children.• If they learn structure as a child it will

follow them in their adult life.• Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the

way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

• Teach them how to relate to others• They must learn at a young age to be

able to interact with others correctly.• Be courteous, respect elders, and

communicate properly. Manners.

• Communication with your children• Set aside time to talk• Avoid raising your voice, blaming,

making fun, or complaining• Be positive, conveying faith and

motivation for them.• Create a good atmosphere for

communication • Don’t allow past hurts and open

wounds hinder communication.

• Communication with your children (continued)• Have recreational activities that involves all

of your children together and individually.• Keep them involved in important family

decisions. (This must be done within reason.)• Treat them like you treat your own friends. • Make them feel like they are the most

important people in your life.

• Honor Your Parents: Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”• A person’s success depends upon

how they treat their own parents; if they despise, hurt/curse them, their days will be shortened. If they bless & honor them, their days will be prolonged.

1. It will be well with you in all that you do.

2. Your life will be prolonged. Be obedient to them (Eph. 6:1) Listen to their counsel &

teaching Proverbs 1:8 “My son, hear the

instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother.”

• Bring joy to your parents lives.• Proverbs 10:1 “A wise son makes a glad

father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.”

• Care for them when they are old.• Proverbs 23:22 “Listen to your father who

begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.”

• Declare blessings over your parents, that their understanding will be clear and their lives will shine.

• Proverbs 20:20 “Whoever curses his father or mother, his lamp will be put out in deep darkness.

• God’s purpose is to establish priestly families and that each family member is to make the effort to evoke the presence of God in their homes so that God’s Spirit can keep our families in harmony.
