… the name was derived from the Yellowstone River going through the park… is the oldest national park in the world (1917)… is well known for its geothermal features… is home to many animal species, even endangered ones. On the other side, there are many recreational areas for people.

Mount Rushmore in South Dakota…

… is a granite sculpture with figures of

the heads of former American

Presidents, namely, Thomas Jefferson,

Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln

and George Washington. All the

figures measure nearly 60 feet.

The carving of Mount Rushmore was

started in the year 1927 and was

completed in the year 1941 with the

help of nearly 400 workers.

The Grand Canyon National Park……is located in Arizona in a valley with the Colorado River and is one of the oldest National parks in the US (since 1919).The area had been settled by Pueblo People before the coming of the Spanish conquistadors in 1540.

Las Vegas – Nevada…… a city built in the middle of the Nevada desert in 1905, is an international synonym for gambling, shopping, and fine dining.

There are numerous outdoor lighting displays on Fremont Street, as well as elsewhere in the city.

Thousands of visitors and gamblers are drawn to casinos and hotels day by day - or better - night by night.

Weddings in one of many of Las Vegas` chapels with only a little paper chase are world famous. You can meet “Elvis Presley” in the street.

San Francisco – California is… • …a financial, cultural, and transportation center• …one of the most beautiful and compact cities of the USA• …the area got its name from the mission station of Saint Francis of Assisi• …in 1906 the city was totally destroyed. Buildings collapsed in

earthquakes from the shaking, gas lines broke and a large fire spread across the city.

San Francisco One of the most famous joys of San Francisco is a ride by cable car which started running in 1873. Plzen Skoda Plants participated in the repair of cable cars and their maintenance in the past.

You can have a boat trip to Alcatraz and go through the building which was the toughest prison in the past.

San Francisco is famous for its hills.There are more than 50 hills in the cityand the streets are very steep. Fisherman's Wharf - is a famous area for its food, stores, views of the San Francisco Bay and sea lions relaxing on the piers.

Los Angeles - CaliforniaLos Angeles, known as L. A., is located in the area of the Pacific Ring of Fire. That means the city is a subject to often earthquakes.

It is a second most populous city of the USA.

In 1910 Hollywood was joined to the city and became the largest centre of film and television industry

In 1969 the city was a birthplace of the APRANET, a „younger brother“ of the Internet.

Sequoia National Park - CaliforniaThe park - established 1890 - is famous for its giant sequoia trees. The biggest tree on the planet, „General Sherman“ is 83 m tall.

The area is also rich in wildlife. It is home to foxes, rattlesnakes, ground squirrels and bobcats.

New Orleans - LouisianaThe city is named after the Duke of Orleans, Regent of France, as the area was a French colony in the 18th century.

Remarkable French Creole architecture in the French Quarter and in the famous cemetery of St. Louis attracts tourists to the city, especially in February to see the Mardi Gras festival.

The city is the cradle of jazz which is played all over the historic centre.

In 2005 New Orleans was totally flooded when Hurricane Katrina hit.

Kennedy Space Center - FloridaFrom this place all unmanned and human space flights have been launched since 1968

The Cape Canaveral Air Force Station was used as a base for Space Shuttles. The project finished in 2011 and the space stations are served by Russian rockets today.

Everglades National Park - FloridaAbout a million tourists visit the largest subtropical national park in south Florida every year.The most common ecosystem of this area are sloughs with flowing water which are home for the American crocodile. The park is a habitat for the Florida panther and another 40 species of mammals, 350 species of birds and 50 species of reptiles who have adapted to the subtropical environment

.The park contains the largest mangrove ecosystem in the western hemisphere
